According to the Bolding FT Rebecca would be my great Aunt, sister to Sampson Powell (1818). His daughter Nancy married Henry Young Simpson (1831) who is my other ggrandfather. I am trying to trace Rebecca and Sampson's parents. Is this your lines? Priscilla

Interested in corresponding with anyone who is researching Lucy Bolding and children, Madison, Jefferson, Wiley and Elizabeth. It's possible there was another daughter, Caroline Bolding, who married Robert B. Hammock Jr and their son was James W. Hammock (the "nephew" listed in 1880 household with Jefferson Bolding).

Looking for more info on Missouri Elizabeth Bolding who married a Caldwell, then Wiley Dodd. Caldwell daughter married Brewster Smith County TX. Death records in Smith County TX list her as "Mrs. Bethe Dodd" burial Flint Tx.
Elizabeth Bolding's parents were Joseph A. Bolding and wife Sarah Williams of Pontotoc County Mississippi (1860 census shows widowed? Sarah with children in Verona; 1850 Hardin Co., TN census shows Joseph and Sarah with corresponding offspring.) Where do these people fit in the Bolding line--red, white, or blue? Does ANYONE have a date of death for Mary Agnes Caldwell Brewster (would be between 1900 and 1910 probably Smith County TX) She is buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Smith County TX. I have names of her four children and their offspring.

Hello everyone,
I thought I'd send you all an email and let you know there have been deaths in the family lately, so you could update your family trees.
As a reminder, my maiden name is Helen Annette Wolfe, daughter of Helen Arbutus Compton, daughter of Artie Ellen Corns who married Ellis M. Compton originally from the Russell County, Virginia area.
We lost my aunt Edith (Compton Keen Meadows) the other day (her funeral is tomorrow) :( Her sister, my aunt Gladys (Compton Bolding) passed away in December and shortly after that their aunt (my great aunt) Jettie Corns Vance passed away as well. I'm going to copy and paste the info from my tree and obituaries here to share with you all.

JOHNSVILLE: Edith M. Meadows, 78, formerly of Fredericktown, died Friday, March 28, 2008 in MedCentral Hospital Shelby, following a long illness.

She was born January 28, 1930 in Russell County, Virginia to Ellis and Artie (Corns) Compton and came to the Mansfield area in 1951.

Edith married Robert James Keen and when he died in 1955, at an early age, she was left to raise her children on her own. She then married Hobart J. Meadows who also preceded her in death in 1977.

A woman of strong faith and conviction, Edith was a member of North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church. You could count on Edith to be the first one there at every function, to open the doors and have things ready. She enjoyed revival services and gospel sings.

She was an avid quilter, having set a record of completing 100 quilts in a single year.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Edith is survived by her children and their spouses Carol and Woody Bailey, Wanda Wyss and Roscoe Brickey all of Marion, Glenn Keen of Long Beach, CA and Sonja and Michael Hoffer of Bellville; two stepsons Hobart Grant and Dee Meadows and Oliver Lee Meadows all of Mansfield; four grandchildren Heather and Shane Triplett of Marion, Michael Hoffer, II of Columbus, and Adam and Karly Hoffer of Bellville; three great grandchildren Coral, Crystal and Kendra Triplett; a brother and sister-in-law Roy and Charlotte Compton of Mansfield; three sisters Eunice Vance, Helen Arbutus Wolfe and Evelyn Sesco all of Mansfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a sister Gladys Bolding, and four brothers-in-law Hershel Keen, Golden Vance, Allen Wolfe, and Bob Sesco.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church, 6186 State Route 314, North Woodbury. Pastors Roger Fletcher, Jimmy Thompson, and Rob Ratcliff will officiate. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association may be made at the funeral home.

Gladys Marie Bolding, 79, of Fredericktown, OH, and formerly of Lexington, OH, died Dec. 14 in Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, OH.
She was born June 1, 1928 in Drill to the Rev. Ellis M. and Artie E. (Corns) Compton, and moved to Ohio in 1951.
She had worked in the disc department of Columbus Electric for 22 years, and retired in September of 1995.
She was a member of North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church, North Woodbury, OH.
She had a deep love for the Lord, and displayed that love through her words and deeds. She lived her faith, clearly evident through her acts of compassion, generosity and love.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Toni DeuIlius of Mount Vernon, Betty and Thomas Wolford of Galion, OH, Ruth and Tucker Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Mary and Jon St. Clair of Fredericktown, and Sharon Darby of Walled Lake, MI; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Eva Bolding of Butler, OH, Jack and Phyllis Bolding of Mount Gilead, OH, James and JoAnn Bolding of Fulton, OH; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Edith Meadows, Eunice Keen Vance and Arbutus Wolfe, all of Mansfield, OH, Annie Sesco of Ontario, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Charlotte Compton of Mansfield; aunt, Jettie Vance of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, Mansfield (419-884-1711), with Pastor and nephew, Roger Keen, officiating.
Burial followed in Shauck Cemetery.

Jettie Pearl Corns Vance
Jettie Pearl Corns Vance, 93, of Mansfield, OH, died December 30, 2007 in a Mansfield nursing facility.
Born June 12, 1914 in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late John and Martha Dye Corns.
She was a member of the Methodist Church. She had been raised in Swords Creek and had resided in Ohio since 1987.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Duvall; second husband, Curtis Miller; third husband, Howard Vance; four brothers, George, Jessee, Roy, and Floyd Corns; and two sisters, Susie Corns and Artie Compton. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. January 3 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Eugene Miller and Rev. Carter Wells officiating.
Interment followed in the Plaster Cemetery at Swords Creek.

Both Armintha and William died within 1 day of eachother. Can't find obit or COD...wondering why they died so close.

Sam Bolding and Adeline Edwards are my gggrandparents. I still live in Marshall County Alabama. I have a copy of the patent where Adeline homesteaded 80 acres on Georgia Mountain. I can find no evidence of Sam coming to Marhsall County with his wife and children. Some say that he died during the War of Northern Aggression. If this is true I have a problem since my ggrandfather, John Thomas Bolding, his son, was not born until 1869.

I only recently foun your messages (Ashley and Phillip Smith) regarding Joyce Bolding. She and I have the same Grear GrandFather, Andrew Pickens. His daughter, Caroline Armendia was my Grand Mother. I knew Joyce back in the 1940's when she lived in Madera and I lived in Fresno. I lost touch with the family wheen I went into the service and stayed In Georgia(not Joyce;s sister) I have s small amount of family history of the Boldings. It is very interesting. Baldwin,Maine - Beverly M. Bolding, "Shawman Pee Mee," 83, of Goffstown,N.H.,died September 9,2005 ,at her Maine residence after a lengthy illness. She was born November 7,1921,in Manchester,N.H.,the daughter of Knute and Muriel (Hamlin) Nelson and was a Goffston resident for more than 50 years. Mrs.Bolding retired as a bookkeeper for New Hampshire Pallet Co.,of Goffstown. She was part Mohawk and Abenaki by birth and followed the Apache ways of of her late husband,"Chief He Who Walks Tall,"who was head of the "Boldwing Apache Clan," of Virginia and New Hampshire.
Mrs.Bolding was medicine person and elder of Boldwing clan.
Bishop Bolding was ordained in the Mother Earth Church. In 1980 she founded and was minister of the "Native American Earth Church" of New Hampshire and was made Bishop in 1985. In 1984 ,Mrs.Bolding helped pass a law for protection of Native American burial sites,and for re-interment of Indian skeletal remains.She was instrumental in securing seven acres of land in northen New Hampshire for that purpose.She worked for 20 years to accomplish this achievement. She was a volunteer Native American chaplin at the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord for many years and also served that capacity at many nursing homes and other facilities for the elderly. Mrs.Bolding was a singer with the Bolding Warrior Drum group,a member of the New Hampshire Indian Council,the Intertribal Council and LIHA of Sanbornton,the New Hampshire Archeological Society and Past Master of Junior Grange 150 Grasmere. She was predeceased by her husband,William L.Bolding in 1994,widow of Winburn Eaton of Weare,and former wife of the late Bernard Phelps of Weare,N.H.. Family members include three sons,Bernard "Larry" Phelps of Dunbarton,Ronald Phelps of Goffstown,and Nelson Balding of Goffstown;a daughter,Muriel (Eaton) Gentley of East Baldwin;and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.French and Rising Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

woman is Susie and what physical build is

Hello, I am looking for anything on emma Katie Bolding, may have been Bolden. She was born in 1878, married Albert Henry, and died in 1938. Emma is buried in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Texas. In the listings from the cemetery, they have her as Emma Katie (Bolding) Henry. Emma and Albert's children are: David William "Will" Henry, Alma Florence Henry, John Henry, Thurman H. "Cap" Henry, Norman A. "Nig" Henry, Ola Mae Henry, Alice Henry and Allie Henry. Alice and Allie were twins. Please, anything would be great!! Thank you.

I realize your post are quite old, however, I am just coming into the loop on my study. I do know that James Pleasants Bolding had a son named Harrison b 1822 m a Louisa Caroline Walls. Harrison and Louis had William H Bolding who married Mary A Rollins. They had Elbert,Mamie, Minnie, Alvie and Dewey (my ggrandfather). So imagine my delight to find James Pleasants Bolding listed in your post.
Any other info you have on this bolding line would be so appreciated!

One more thing:

Ibbie Melvina Bolding (5 Jul 1890) divorced William Lee Dailey (26 Feb 1887) in the 1930s. She then married Frank Foster.

In her twilight years, she parted ways with Frank Foster and lived with William Lee Dailey for the rest of his life. She passed away about three years later in 1982.

William Wesley Bolding (1825) married his fifth wife, Melvina Ann Williams in 1888. They had three children:

1. Ibbie Melvina (born: 5 Jul 1890; married William Lee Dailey

2. Wesley W. (born: 13 Oct 1892; nickname "Fester"; Married daughter of John Roberts Dailey and Josephine Black, Oma Dailey)

3. Julia Mae (born: 7 Jul 1899; married Tobe H. Johnson).

I descend from Elizabeth Florentine (Betty) Bolding, my
grandmother who was m.to William Wiley Stone. She was a
daughter of Andy and Ailey Bolding, both b. Alabama and both
d. Shady Grove, OK.
What I have NOT GOT is a picture of her, nor do I have a surety as to where and when she was born. I think Texas.
I know she died in the area of Checotah, Ok probably 1907-8 and is said to be buried in Frozen Rock Cemetery, though a physical walking of that cem. was to no avail and I have never found the sexton .. record keeper .. for that cem.
Would you just happen to have information about her?

I am from Guntersville Alabama. My Mother was Mildred Nell Bolding and her Father was Zee Bolding. I have a cousin named Bernice Bolding She is the Daughter of John Harris Bolding that lives on Georgia Mountain in Guntersville. It is possible she was named after a "Bernice". She isn't old enough to be the relative you are refering to but it could be a place to start. The Bolding family was large and stretched out. Good Luck

I saw in your response that you had information regarding Seaborn Sargent. He was my great-grandfather's uncle. I am assuming you are referring to Seaborn Humphrey Sargent, who was in the Civil War. Hi my ancestor Thomas Godbey came over on the Deliverance May 23 1610 in Jamestown, Va
I looked up Jamestown on mapquest and it tells of the sea adveture shipwreck and when the Deliverance arrived in Jamestown. It also has a list of names of the 1st permanent settlers. it's possible yours are on that list ( census )

Could you check to see if you have anything on a Sallie Boldin(g). Born about 1827 Tn. Living w/dau. Virginia on 1880 census in DeSoto County, Ms. Sallie also had a daughter named Janie Phillips.

Sarah A. BOLDING age 1 b. MS

1860 Mississippi Census, Pontotoc County
lists Sarah with children and no husband.

Could you check to see if you have anything on a Sarah BOLDING born 1820 MS. She had two daughters that I know of, Frances Elizabeth b. 1872 married James KELLY NC and Janie born 1858 married a PHILLIPS.

Daniel Lynn Bolding b. 1951 in Houston, TX

Hi, My name is Wally Caviness of Bellingham, Washington and I am looking for relatives of a Daniel Lynn Bolding.

I believe that his grandfather Arch Humphrey is the brother of my grandmother Sarah Etta Mae Humphrey Evans. So that means we are cousins.

Arch Humphrey b. 1894 in Pilot Hill, Fulton Co. AR. -died 1973, married a Ollie Arnetta Bryan b. 1900 sometime in the late 1910's. I have them living in the household of my greatgrandfather Francis Marion Humphrey in the Henrytownship in Olmulgee, Ok in the 1920 Federal Cenus. Also, living in that household was a brother of Arch's name Charles Crow Humphrey b. 1890.

They had a daughter Bonnie Elizabeth Humphrey b. 1921 in Henrytownship, Olmulgee, OK

Bonnie married a Forest Alexander Bolding b. 1918 sometime in the late 1930's or early 1940's.
Bonnie and Forest had four children:
1.Mary Ann b. 1943
2. Carol Elizabeth b. 1946
3. Benjamin Forest b. 1948-1969
4. Daniel Lynn b. 1 Dec. 1951
