Jeremian Bolen - Brown County, Ohio

I am seeking information on my g-g-g-g-grandfather, Jeremiah Bolen, born in Ohio in 1822/1823. In the 1850 census, Jeremiah is found in Brown County, Lewis Township in Ohio. I have found no info on any other Bolens in the area that might give clues to his parentage, but there is a large Bolender family that would be the right time. Therefore, I am pursuing the possibility that Jeremiah may have shortened his name from Bolender to Bolen, and eventually took the form of Bohlen. Of particular interest is Stephen Bolender, whose father (also Stephen), moved the family from Lancaster Penn to Brown County around 1803. Therefore, I am looking for a complete list of Stephen's children to determine if Jeremiah may have been a son. Any info would be appreciated.

John W. Bolander/Bolender.

I'm not quite sure why I'm posting this here, in the Bolender message board section, other than the fact that doing the same on the Bolander board has done nothing, and that I'm also quite sure the name probably changed over the year and probably WAS Bolender at one point. Anyway...

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

I'm looking for any information at all on the parents of this guy, one "John W. Bolander," my great-great grandfather.

- The census states he was born in Texas, yet I have not been able to find any kind of record at all of a John W. Bolander/Bolender being born in the state. ALSO, on the 1900 census it says his father was born in Germany and his mother Missouri...and yet in the next census, circa 1910, it says his dad was from Pennsylvania. Erm...

- Then there's the damndable family legend, bane of the family researcher. According to THAT, his father came down from Canada and they were blacksmith/blacksmiths somewhere on the Goodnight trail. Also, the family might've been, you know, cattle rustlers or something, but they can't be sure. Thank you VERY bleeding much.

- There IS a 64-year old John F. Bolander living in the same settlement as John W. on one of the later census; if this is his father one can only guess.

So as you can see, this is a very tangled, skewered, annoying mess of a family line. If anyone's interested in a good puzzle/mystery to work out, I would be very happy for the help, as my brain is fried trying to query it out myself.

Cheers.
