I was wondering if you might have had any
insight to Rutherford County, TN BOLIN families.
My great grandfather, James Madison Boling,
was born 12/25/1858, along with a twin sister Mary,
in Rutherford County, Tennessee. His parents
somehow died within the following two years
and by the 1860 census they were not enumerated
although the infants appear to be enumerated
on neighboring farms.
Going back to the 1850 census, in the same
geographical area, I found only BOLIN family
members, including a couple of bachelors on
nearby farms that looked like they were the
same age, maybe twins.
The courthouse apparantly burned down there
during the Civil War so getting official records
is a problem.
One thought is that marriage records, if any,
might reveal a BOLIN/BOLING marriage prior
to 1858. (Slightly earlier since there was
also an older brother named Frank, perhaps
only a couple of years older.)
On James Madison Boling's death certificate
his father is listed as "A Boling" where the
character could be a G instead of an A. The
fellows I found on the 1850 census, one was
Alexander Boling I believe.
Sorry to just dump all this data out but I
hope that something might connect with existing
research.
