Hi,

I am researching William Bolivar & Ruth Ann Stafford (New York , early 1800s). They had one child: Albert Bolivar born in 1835 in New York. Albert married Sidonie Collette on Sept. 8 1870. They had five or six children.

I am trying to find out where William Bolivar and Ruth Ann Stafford were born or where they came to NY from.

Thanks!

Hello I'm a Bolivar who's family is also from Cuba. Supposedly related to Simon. 11th great grandfather. My father and family came from the Dominican Republic when he was 10 years old and settled in Tampa.I had heard family say we are from Simon's brother's blood line. Not sure, I also know that Simon had a girl friend in the Caribbean that he visited often. There is a movie being made about him coming out soon. I think starring Denzel Washington. Anyway, I'll ask my father about what he knows about the family and try to start documenting it.

I am running into a brick wall with both these names, which is surprising as AJL was a wounded and decorated CSA Colonel, commander of the Hancock County Pierce Guards. Please reply to my email address if you want descendents' information.

Are you having any luck with the Margaret Bolivar brick wall?

Whitney

They had three children: Rubbie, Jasper, and Effie. Rubbie was my great-grandfather. I have looked at ellisisland.org and found two Bolivars of Columbian ethinicity who resided in Paris before coming to the states, but have not been able to find specific information about Louis. Can anyone help me?
Rubbie's surname was changed to Boliver when he joined the military.

My Grandfather was a Bolivar

My grandfather was I believed "Jacob" Bolivar. He immigrated from Amsterdam and my Father was told he was German. According to a 1920 census report my Grandmother Ola Bell Bolivar(Jones) reported my GGrandfather as being born in Germany. I do not believe this to be true because the name is Hispanic and we, our father and the 8 kids have olive skin.
My GGrandfather and his Father settled in Indiana and somehow moved to Mississippi where he is on record as being buried in Greene County.
Family stories, which I'm finding are sometimes changed to protect the innocent, mentions cousins, don't know if these are on GGrandmothers side or not. Cannot read death certificates because of the writing over and crossing out, this is why I'm not real sure if it is Jacob or if it is John as was always told.
My GGrandmothers name was Mary Frances and they had three girls, Virginia, Ola and Gertrude and one Boy John, it is Johns death certificate that I have gotten most of the information from but he died in 1935 and it was marked over and Mary's last name is not clear, nor is My GGrandfathers first name. is also spelled Bolever, which I have never found that as a common spelling or in any other data base.
Any help ?? I appreciate it in advance.

Fran

My Bolivar relative is Margaret Bolivar, who is somehow related to El Libertador according to family legend. She married George Lane (b. Roanoke VA) and their descendent in my lineage was Col. Andrew Jackson Lane b. 1822 VA, d. 1886 Hancock Cty, GA. I've tried to research via Latino databases, but between the Spanish and the Latin name lineages, I wasn't successful. Any info at all would be appreciated, on Margaret or Simon (who I understand died childless).

Hi. I saw your posting. My name is William Bolivar, I was born in "Bolivar City", a small town, but very rich in gold, platinum, coffee and emeralds located in Colombia, S.A.
It was founded by Fernando Bolivar, nephew to "El Libertador" and who happens to be, according to my family tree line, my great grandfather. Simon himself, had no children with his young wife, for she died just 4 months after their marriage. However, he was reputedly a sort of promiscuos individual, and according to "the people's history" many countrymen, were honored by having their daughter "stay" with El Libertador. There are uncorfinmed accounts that Simon Bolivar, actually gave his name to some of the children he had during his era. There is also, one account (Unconfirmed) that Manuelita Saez, his mistress, did actually bear one of his children. The only known true is that Simon Bolivar's brother, had a few sons, one of them been Fernando, who was also a Lietunant in the liberation Army and
Simon Bolivar's personal "escriba". To this date, the only descendants proven come from his roots. Fernando Died in Bolivar Town and Simon Died in Santa Marta, both in Colombia.

I know my great-grandfather Donato Bolivar was from the Phillipines. He was born on: August 13, 1886 and died in March of 1972. He has many children, one of them my grandfather Camillo Bolivar who died in the mid 1950's. Most of the family moved to Ookaia, Hawaii. Donato Bolivar lived there for a short time, but then moved back to the Phillipines to a island called cibu? (New Washington) I recently ordered a copy of his death certificate and should have the names of his parents or other family members soon. Anyone with information about my grandfather, please e-mail me! Thanks, Lisa

Dear Fritz, my father was from the Phillipine Islands. Our last name is Latin, I always wondered how it came to the Island. I know a long time ago, the young men would leave their homes to travel the world in hoping to find a new life. Please write me, we may be related.

Hi. My father Floro Bolivar was from the Philippine Islands, and resided and died in California. He used to say that he was one of five children, and the only one to emigrate to US (through the Japanese-Philippine war). He said our name was South American. Any ties to Bolivars in Philippines? I know records were destroyed during the war in a church fire. Looking for family and history.
