I believed the bollig's immigrated from germany under katherine the great, and settled in Graf, russia, which is along the volga river. Peter Bollig Sr. was married to Barbara Grier, was widowed and then married Barbara Herman. I do know that peter Bollig, Jr's sister margaret (birth and death dates unknown) stayed in russia. It could be that my great-great grandfather, peter bollig, sr. and your ancestor were brothers. You may want to ask your father if he recalls the names peter or margaret bollig. If they are I can give you the information on the united states bolligs, becauase they all come from peter bollig, Sr, who moved to graf, russia before moving to the united states.
