ie Bay, Barry County, Mo. July of 1872 at Berryville, Ark.

At the Alice Carr homeplace Tennie married George Henry Muse Jr. on Ju
ly 6, 1879. She was 23 years of age. They had a son George Henry Muse J
r. they called him "Sogg". On August 4, 1880 George Henry Sr. died. Sogg w
as 5 months old.

George Henry Muse Jr. "Sogg" was 2 years and 9 months old when Tennie marr

ue Springs Congregation and was very active in his church.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Stone in 2000. He is surviv
ed by his daughter Joy Lynn Davis and husband Allan, Independence, MO; s
on Joe Ben Stone and wife Violet, Bates City, MO; grandchildren Michele Fi
elds, Todd Stone, Eric Davis, Stefanie Luttrell; and nine great-grandchild

Brothers Furniture. For many years he was credit manager of the Bradley
Furniture Company and for 23 years he was bookkeeper of the Wallace meat

Nettie Jewel Stone was blind since I can remember. When I was little we used to visit her and George Elbert in the Christian Nursing Center in Edmond Oklahoma. She would take mine and my brothers face in her hands everytime we came to visit. She mostly sat quietly listening to everyone talk during the visit.

I really felt bad for her the night Grandpa Elbert died, as she was blind, she knew something was wrong and called my grandmother Flossie in the room. My Grandmother immediately called my mom Francis and had her come by the house. We lived not far away in Tulsa on N Utica.

My brother Danny and I knew something was wrong and went to the house as it was on the way to school. I am glad we did because we were able to talk to G Grandma Nettie and say goodbye to G Grandpa Elbert.

George Elbert Potter used to make small wooden wheelbarrows for me
and my brother when we were small. He also made wooden tops, small baseball bats, and pencil holders. Even after retiring to the Christian Nursing Center in Edmond, OK he continued making things out of the basement, in a small wood shop. He never would cuss.

My Grandfather Willis Willard recounted a tale of him getting kicked in the chest by a mule, getting up and saying AW SHAW. He would never cuss to my knowledge.

He died quietly on a Sunday night in his sleep the night after the Stone / Potter reunion in Tulsa Oklahoma at my Grandparents home on North Trenton in Tulsa OK.

The original Potter homestead in Disney, OK is still in the family. The old house is gone but some flowers GG Nettie planted still bloom there. Aunt Bertha and Uncle Garland lived on the property next to the old homestead and G Willis lived on property that adjoined both properties. My father GL Potter recently sold Grandpa Willis Willard's old property and kept about 1/2 acre ajoining the old homestead
.
My Aunt Judy Swaim Gibson and her husband own part of the original homestead also.

WILLIS WILLARD POTTER
DISNEY, Okla. - Willis Willard Potter, 88, of Disney passed away Sunday, S
ept. 30, 2001 in Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa. Mr. Potter, the son of G
eorge Elbert and Nettie Jewell (Stone) Potter, was born in Flat Creek, Mo
., on May 23, 1913.
Funeral services for Mr. Potter were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the S
outh Grand Lake Christian Church, north of Langley, with Dr. Bob Weiziel o
fficiating. Interment followed in the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Dan Po
tter, Chris Potter, Steven Potter, David Gibson, Darron Gibson and Frank P
flueger serving as casket bearers. Honary casket bearers were Bernard Po
pe and Bob Hamill. Funeral service arrangements were under the care of Gar
ner's Jim Green Funeral Home, Pryor.
Willis was born and raised in the Flat Creek community of Stone County, Mo
., where he attended public school. At the age of 25 he moved with his fam
ily to Disney during the construction of the Pensacola Dam. He married Flo
ssie Viola Morris of Salina on February 16, 1939 at Muskogee. They shar
ed over 53 years of marriage until her death in May 1992. A carpenter by t
rade, Willis drove to various work projects in Tulsa. His union carpent
ry skills were put to use in high rise buildings as well as at the Utica S
quare Shopping Center. Willis was a charter member of the First Christi
an Church (Disciples of Christ) in Langley and a member of the Carpenter
's Union Local 943, Tulsa. He had served as a church Elder, Deacon, Sund
ay School teacher and member of various building and pulpit committee
s. He became a charter member of the South Grand Lake Christian Church a
nd was active in assisting in the church growth. Willis was an avid fisher
man and rock hound and enjoyed making jewelry from his rock finds. He al
so enjoyed traveling the western states.
Mr. Potter is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Fran Potte
r, Pryor; grandchildren, Daniel Raymond and Rhonda Potter, Longview, Texa
s, and Steven Byron and Debra Potter, Moore, Okla.; great-grandchildren, J
ames Christopher and Renee, Ashley Renea, Steven Byron II, Joseph David a
nd Kassandra Lynn; a great-great-granddaughter, Rylie, and other relativ
es and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Flossie, his parents, and his siste
r, Berth Edith Dinkins.
