I have 2 photographs, one of Ed and one of Albert from probably 1900 or before. Sedgwick, Kansas might possibly be the location or else several areas in Illinois like Monticello. These are in a White/Davis/Conard photo album. Does someone know of a friendship or relationship?

Jacob Bollinger Born 1802 in PA

I am looking for any help someone can give. I've been hitting brick walls for 3 years now on my Great Great Great Grandfather's Parents.

My G.G.G. Grandfather is Jacob Bollinger Born in 1802(PA) and he died in 1882 (Ohio). He was married to Christina Bolig (sometimes I see is spelled Bolich). They were both pioneers of Venango County, PA. Jacob being a farmer and a Pastor traveled back and forth from Venango and Summit County, OH.

Now most people on Ancestry have Jacob being born in Union County, However Union was not established until 1813 from parts of Northumberland County. So he couldn't have been born in a County that didn't exist until 11 years after his birth.

Another ancestor of Jacob has a copy of his Eulogy and it reads "The subject of this sketch was born in Northampton County in 1802." Now that could have been a mistake/misunderstanding and maybe it was supposed to be Northumberland County which parts of turned to Union or he could have been born in Northampton.

In 1800 I can see on the US Census a Henry Bollinger in Allen Township in Northampton and again in the 1810 US Census I believe the same Henry Bollinger is living in Moore Township Northampton County. They only list # of household members and not names but the 1810 census would have a son in the age range of Jacob.

I have been unsuccessful in finding any information on this Henry Bollinger or if he is the Father of Jacob.

I have found many information on Jacob and his decedents but I have found zilch of his parents except in one of the US Census' Jacob listed his parents "Not of Foreign Born. So if that information is correct then they would of been born in the USA. If anyone has any info or can at least kick over a pebble of information I'd much appreciate it.

Thank you,

John Bollinger

Re: Daniel Bollinger of Cape Girardeau CO MO. (son of Heinrich "Henry")

You can access on-line information on the procedings for determining if these land grants would be approved by the US government at the reference listed below. You can see what testimony was recorded in the procedings by persons attempting to substantiate friends/neighbors/family members claims. Sometimes quite enlightening.

Land grant (SUR 316) for 640 arpens of land apparently was approved Dec 1810 to Heinrich's son Daniel Bollinger Sr after at first being recommended that it be denied. I think you can find it as SUR 316 on left edge of the Missouri Plat Map for Cape Girardeau that you can access at website http://digital.library.umsystem.edu/cgi/i/image/image-idx?c=...

Daniel Bollinger, son of John, had a much more difficult time getting his Spanish Land grant approved by the US and there are a number of entries in the records where he kept re-applying over the years to get his grant approved. They eventually granted him only 250 arpens of the 700 arpens he claimed that the Spanish had granted him. It was located at the top edge of Bollinger County adjacent to a grant SURVEY to a Henry Bollinger (probably this Daniel's older brother).

There was a Daniel Bollinger, son of Matthias, who also made a claim for a Spanish Land grant to the US Land Commission holding hearings in 1811 but I do not know if he received a grant. I think he might have been under 21 in 1803, and therefore not considered legally eligible to receive a land grant.

The proceedings of those Land Commission Hearings are recorded at the following site:

American State Papers, VIII. Public Lands, Vol. 2. 1809-1815 and Vol. 3. 1815-1824, part of the Congressional Records found under link Public Lands at website http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/amlaw/lwsplink.html

There were two Daniel Bollingers who received Spanish land grants in the Whitewater area of Missouri between 1800-1803: The older one was the son of Heinrich Bollinger and the other was the son of Heinrich's oldest son Johannas "John" Bollinger. In other words, the younger Daniel was the nephew of the older one.

Samuel Whybark was the son-in-law of the younger Daniel Bollinger (d. 1843). The children of the younger Daniel Bollinger were the ones you listed: Sophia Whybark, Joseph and Levi Bollinger, Fanny Asherbraner, Mary Bollinger, Maria Stacy, Andrew and Anna Bollinger.

French & Spanish Land Grants:
The French and Spanish governments ruled the St. Louis area before the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Both the French and Spanish governors provided land grants to the early settlers. The 1838 Dupré Atlas outlines of the grants.
This index provides the name of the grantee and the book and page number of the recording. Many of these property owners had to defend their claim with the Board of Land Commissioners in St. Louis. Of the claims heard, about seventy percent were denied. The French and Spanish Land Grants are available on microfilm at the Missouri Archives and St. Louis County Library Special Collections.
Missouri Archives originally compiled this list, and it was prepared for StLGS by Mary Berthold. The index first appeared in the 1975 St. Louis Genealogical Society Quarterly, volume 8, number 3, pages 53–68.
Bibliography
American State Papers, Volume. 8, Public Lands.

Looking for 'any' information on Daniel Bollinger (b.ca 1755, PN, d. ca. 1843) in Cape Girardeau CO MO. He was a son of pioneer Heinrich "Henry" Bollinger.

I'm looking for "proof" of him living into the 1840's. I cannot find him on the 1830 or 1840 census. There are plenty of Daniel Bollinger/Bullinger/Bolinger..etc. around Cape Girardeau CO, but none match the age he would have been.

My ancestor Philip Bollinger, Sr., who died in neighboring Wayne Co. MO., in 1857 is said to have been his son. I would like to find proof of that as well.

I wonder if Daniel Bollinger's will is recorded ?

Thanks,
David Bollinger - said to be g-g-g-g-grandson of Daniel Bollinger

I have been lookking and looking for people related to my grandfather GC Bollinger of (I think born there) Tyrone or Altoona, Blair county, PA. I don't know if he is part of the Bollingers who went to MO or not. Up to now, I have not pursued the possibility. I think the G=George and the C=Claire. He was related to Fannie Bollinger whose family lived in Baltimore around the turn of the century or earlier. This is my Mother's side of the family. She was born 1909 in possibly WV.
Re: Joseph "Joda" Bollinger

I think we may have corresponded in the past, but not sure. My mother-in-law, Inez Tippett Kokal, is the granddaughter of Joseph A. "Joda" Bollinger and Etta Goodman by their daughter Nettie Bollinger Tippett who married Oscar Tippett. Have you proven the parents of Joseph? I have worked on trying to place him with parents for several years, but no success. Inez, age 97, is still living, but confined to a wheelchair and in a nursing home. Her son and my husband Gary passed away last year, but depending on where and when your reunion is in MO, I would consider attending. If you would like to contact me, please e-mail me direct at bdkokal@att.net. Thank you, Betty Kokal
