Leona Fanchion Moore Bombard was my maternal grandmother. She died in April, 1971 in Manchester, Connecticut, and is buried next to my grandfather at St. James' Cemetery (?) in Manchester. (I am out of town and don't have my family tree files handy.)
Would love to know your connection. I note you have some Godbey ties? Elizabeth (Bettie) Godbey was Leona's paternal grandmother, if I am not mistaken. Her som was Leona's father, Thomas Jefferson Moore.
Interesting family. I found out circa 1996 that Leona's mother's father, Pierce Butler Bohannon, had been in the Confederate Army and had in fact died in the Confederate Soldiers Home in Pewee Valley, KY, ca. 1923. No one in the family professes to have ever known that. And of course Leona married Clifford, whose father and grandfather were Union soldiers!
Please contact me so we can share information. Joan Mustard, Hilton Head Island, SC

John, I'm sorry if it appears to say you are a grandson of Harold instead of saying step grandson. but I didnt write the obit, it is in its original form as it had appeared in the PressRepublican. The obit however does list your father as a stepson. Sorry for the inconvience.
Lori

I would like to state for the record that while Harold was a very nice kind decent man, he was only related to me through my grandmother. I am NOT his grandchild and would like to please not be referred to in that manner. I bear no ill will towards the man nor to whoever decided to supply this information without consulting with me on this, but I have already been emabarrsed by someone reading this article and asking me if this was my grandfather, subsequently I said no of course, and then I was informed that this was listed on the internet that way. I t was a total shock to me that someone would just print this infromation believing it to be factual. If this article could please be amended not to show me my brother or sister as Harold Bombard's grandchildren it would be greatly appreciated. If my father his brother and sister do not wish to have thier names amended in this article so be it. Again for the record I am not offended I just wish for me to be listed as grandson from Edna Bombard, no relation to Harold, I apologize if this appears to be petty and thank you for your attention in this matter,

Jonathan L Votraw Jr.

P.S. my grandfather was Albert (Nip) Votraw for the record.

In the 1920 census they also have anna marie age 1 !/2. In the 1930 census he is married to Elizabeth Bosley and now they also have Harley. I don't know if Lena died or what. Any info appreciated.
