Has anyone heard of a Julius Bona originally from Budapest? He was a Hungarian soldier in WW2 and posted to an Austrian farm as labourer for 4 years approx. He would be around 91 years of age?

My grandmother was born Elizabeth Bona in 1893. I don't know very much about that side of my family but I do know that her family was from the area of Myrtha Tydfil. I don't know her parents name or if she was born in Wales. Has anyone come across Bonas in that area. I'd love to find out more about that part of my family.

Possibly the same family all the Bona's I have researched came form Glamorgan or Carmarthenshire My granfathers mother was Maria Ann Bona born 1855 her parents were Henry and Margaret Henry was a shoe maker I have gone back to Thomas 1714 Carmarthen who had a brotheer William and sister Martha and the surname given then was Bonaventure they obviously changed it to Bona William was acopyist and translator of old manuscripts. My understanding is that Bonventure is of French or Italian origin depending on the spelling

Only details I have is that she married William Evans b1789 in Cardiganshire and they had 7 children Roderick b1833 & Margaret b1836 in Cardiganshire and John b1837, Thomas b1842, Mary b1844, Catherine b1848 and William b1851 in Breconshire. It is an unusual name so I was just wondering if there is any connection?

I am excited to learn more about the Bona's from Wales. My great grandfather William Bona was born in Glamorgan in 1838 (wife Mary Jones), his father was David Bona born in Carmarthen in 1793 (wife Anne Bowen), his father was John Bona born in Carmarthan in 1772 (wife Elizabeth Jones), and his father was Edward Bona whose birthdate is about 1746 (wife Mary?). I was interested to see that they probably came from Italy, we have always felt that is where they originated.
Thanks for your info.

Ive just been browsing the web and discovered your message.
My name is Michael Bona and i was born in Pendine West Wales and christened in Carmarthen.
My dad (Michael Bona Snr) has told me that the family moved to Wales from Italy possibly in the late 1500's, i think there is evidence of this at St Davids church in Carmarthen as there is a record of a Bona being Christened there.
He believed they may have been cobblers by trade, not sure if this is any use to you but may help.
Mr. Viola....

My Mother's maiden name is Bona, and our family tree extends out of Northern Italy..I believe the Assisi area to be specific. There has been talk in the family that at one time our family migrated through the Alps from either France or Austria. Names also inclusive in this family are Pache and Brattessanni. Have been attempting to locate other family members...specifically, a lost cousin by the name of Robert Bona.

George R. Bona WW2 Army Airborne

Hi. I am looking for him or his family. (He would have been born probably between 1915 and 1926)

He was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He started out in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion, HQ & S or medical.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Battalion and would like to have him contact me. If he is no longer with us, I'd like the family to touch base with me to give me a summary of his life since the service. This also will be in the book.

I have also succeeded in getting these WW2 Heros to touch base again with their comrades after not seeing each other for almost 60 years. Their reunions have been wonderful.

This project is so important because 17 million personnel files were destroyed in the 1973 file in St. Louis MO. I want to make sure that these men will never be forgotten and will be put in the history books for generations to come!

Thank you for all leads to help me on this tribute to our WW2 Heros.

Sincerely,
Tammy Paynter

Just noticed your message of last year and the mention of Pache. I'm looking for a connection with Emile Pache (my G Grandfather), a butler, married London England 1883. Father John Pache a Tobacconist. Trying to confirm if Emile was in fact Swiss as family history says. An Emile Pache born Swiss has a relative shown, on the IGI, of Rose A L Snyder. Do these names mean anything to your records? Any help greatly appreciated.

Kandy,
I'm an idiot. My information was a bit skewed. My great grandfather Harry Milton Bona married Mildred Maye Bousquet in New York and came out to Washington by 1910. There first son Harry Milton jr was born in New York city in 1909 and his two siblings( one being my grandfather,Lester, were born in Tacoma. I mixed my great grandparents up while in a web cruising stupor. you do this for hours on end everything starts to look the same! Also Harry Milton Sr.'s father,Henry Bona, was born in germany. I am stil trying to locate his wife's maiden name and other siblings. Thanks for the inquiry. Cathy Bona Cornett
