Tracing Indian Heritage in Bonds Family

Looking for info on a William Riley Bonds who married a Cherokee Indian by the name of Sarah Bradberry. Marriage would have been in the South (i.e. Carolinas, Georgia or Alabama)in the early 1800s. Warren, PA – Ethel H. BOND 88, of Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of 11 Arlington St., W. Ellicott, NY died at 8:40 PM Thursday (Aug. 18, 1988) in Kinzua Health Center, Warren, PA. She was the widow of Frank J. BOND, whom she married June 28, 1927 & who was accidentally killed 11 weeks after their marriage.
Living in the Bear Lake, PA area for several years, she was born July 4, 1900, in Harmony, a daughter of Willis B. & Ellen COOK HAWKINS.
Mrs. BOND was a graduate of Lakewood High School & Edinboro State Teachers College, class of 1923. She was employed as a teacher in Columbus, PA, where she began her teaching career & later taught in Bear Lake & Corry, PA. For 35 years, she was employed by Jamestown Public School System in Fairmount Elementary School. While teaching there, she was awarded a life membership in Parent Teachers Assoc. She attended Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ & was a member of Southern Chautauqua Co. Retired Teachers Assoc., NY State Retired Teachers Assoc., Jamestown & National Assoc. of Retired Persons, Marvin House, YWCA, Panama Union Cemetery Aux., Antique Study Club & Fenton & Harmony Historical societies.
Surviving is a sister, Edith E. HAWKINS with whom she made her home & who is now a resident of Heritage Village, Gerry, NY.
The funeral will be at 3 PM Sunday in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Arthur J. Vrooman, retired pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Panama Union Cemetery.

Mr. Bonds died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in Clinton. He was born October 5, 1924 to W.M. Bonds (9/23/1901-1/19/1986) and Gladys Clark Bonds. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a machinist, and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester D. (10/4/1926-7/19/1986) and Frank.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara (Roy Dean) Dempsey of Clinton, and two brothers, Ed of Magnolia, TX, and Bill of Baton Rouge, LA.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7 at the Roller-McNutt Chapel with Bill Saxby officiating. Interment was at Holley Mountain Cemetery (located in Van Buren County on County Road No. 93, north off Highway No. 16 East).
Pallbearers were Ralph Ring, James Clark, Bill Bonds, James Beavers, Robert Dempsey, & Don Hensley.

Great Great Grandmother was Nancy M. Durning nee' Linzy, who was born in 1855(Cass, Franklin Co., AR) Her father George W. Durning died in 1857, and I highly suspect that her mother Margaret died before 1860 since she is enumerated with her grandparents in Franklin County.

In 1870 the mystery begins. Nancy by then is listed in the census with a J. Clark Bonds family in Dover, Pope County AR. (Page 25 of the Dover Township) Listing is as follows:

He married Ellen Brush (dau of William Brush and Elizabeth Burden) in Calloway Co Kentucky on March 10, 1827. The children from this marriage are, Pernicia Ellen (born Sep 3, 1845 died Feb 22, 1934), William (born abt 1828), Sarah(abt 1830), Elizabeth (abt 1835), Zachariah (abt 1836), Rebecca(abt 1840), Martha (abt 1842), and Hester A (abt 1846). I am not researching the BOND name, however I have reason to believe that John (Jack) T. and Sarah (Sallie) A. BOND
ANDERSON both born in TN, are my gr gr grandparents. I have not been able to find the parents and siblings of my gr grandfather John Eli ANDERSON, born 1851, KY died 1909, KY, but in doing my ANDERSON research I have found that William F. ANDERSON married my gr grandmother, Matilda KEELING ANDERSON's sister Sara C. KEELING. According to William's death certificate his parents were Jack ANDERSON and Sallie BONDS. In the 1870 Census for Graves Co., KY these parents have a William and John of the right year born. Can anyone help me on this ANDERSON/BOND problem? I am also searching for a Thomas BONDS. However, I have a middle name as being Meredith. His first wife, Ada COWART, died in childbirth. Together they had 14 children. It is known that Thomas abandoned this family and started a new family, but it remains a mystery.

Ernestine Bonds, age 74 of Austin passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004. Ernestine had been a resident of Austin since 1963. She was co-owner for a property management company, Bonds and Dotson. She enjoyed her pet fish and watching Tiger on TV. You could frequently find her eating breakfast at Dan's hamburgers. Ernestine's greatest love was for her friends and family. I am the ggranddaughter of shug bonds. My grandfather was his son.He was married to Rosalee Johnson.My mother has a paper which my ggreat aunt wrote she was born dec.13,1903 in Calhoun Falls SC. She passed away July 26,1999 in Buffalo,NY. Ther were five children born to him and his wife. Names were :Floyd Sanford[1895],Callie Mae[1897],Lucius W.[1900],Robert L.[1902],Willie[female]1903. Seeking information on Anzada Bonds who married Asberry Gay and lived in Terrell County Georgia. I believe she was from South Carolina and probably born about 1810. Her first child was born in about 1840. In 1850 she is in Randolph County (later bcame Terrell) Georgia with husband Asberry and two children. I believe she may have married in Georgia but haven't found any record.

Sarah Ellen Bonds/Fondren is my gggrandmother, I know only that the 1900 Census shows that Theodore and Nellie were her Brother and Sister, my aunt says that Sarah was married a couple of times, or more! and that her name when she married John Albert Fondren was Mathis. So,... they had Aggie Lou Fondren b. 8-26-1900. Sarah died (1904/5) when Aggie was 4 or 5 and he remarried. If anyone out there has any information on this family it would be GREATLY appreciated.

In the will of Charles Little of Laurens Co, SC, dated 1831, he mentions his "beloved wife, Ann; Henry Bonds; Caroline Bonds, and children of Ann and Mary Bonds, now residing in Georgia."

Charles Little's wife was named Ann Eckert. They had one known daughter, Ann Mary Bonds, born about 1813. I think there was a transcription error in the will, and it should have read "children of Ann Mary Bonds."

According to records, Dudley Bonds married an Ann Mary Van Bibber and moved to Gwinnett Co, GA. I think she was originally Ann Mary Little, and the Ann Little living next door to Dudley Bonds in 1840 and living in his household in 1850 was Ann Mary's mother, Ann Eckert Little, the wife of Charles Little.

I am the wife of Tommy Bonds who is the first cousin of Russ Bonds of Atlanta. Russ and I have been working on the Bonds genealogy for several years. I have most of my genealogy in a GEDCOM format. Russ has done everything the old fashioned way... paper and pen.

The dates for Frances Meredith's birth and the age in the 1790 and 1800 census do not match. The age would be more correct to be the sister of William Meredith. According to the census, both Dudley and his wife were over 45 in 1790. I would like to see a marriage documentation.
