BONDURANT Leroy T. Bondurant, 60, of Yellow Springs, Oh., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at 5:30 a.m. in Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del. He was born February 27, 1938 in Columbus, Oh., the son of Thomas and Grace Bondurant. He enlisted in the active military service in 1953 and continued in civilian service, first as a postal employee, then as a Program Manager for the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a GS-16. Roy retired after 33 years of dedicated service. Roy obtained an Associates Degree in Business from Sinclair Community College in 1968, a B.S. in Computer Science from Wright State University in 1972 and a Masters Degree from the prestigious Air Force Institute of Technology in 1982. Roy will be remembered most through his great contributions to the Soccer Programs in Yellow Springs. He established the SAY Traveling Soccer Squad for boys and girls in 1972 and the Yellow Springs Soccer Team in 1975 where he coached through the 1980 season. Roy accumulated numerous awards and accomplishments, most notably the 1978-79 squad that finished the regular season ranked second in the state, Dayton area Coach of the Year in 1977 and he produced 11 All-Dayton, two All-state and 1 All-American (his son, Tyson) players. He was also a member of the Pride of the Hilltop Lodge #110, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, Columbus, Oh. Roy leaves to cherish his memory, his son and daughter-in-law, L. Tyson and Rhonda M. Bondurant of Ashburn, Va.; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa M. and Leontist Wagner Jr. of Dover, Del.; 1 granddaughter, Tyne' Marie Bondurant; 2 grandsons, Ameer Jaraad and Ahmad Ali Wagner; step-mother, Adele Bondurant; brothers, Elder Ronald (Charlene), Paul (Elnora), David (Lydia), Richard (Wanda), Thomas (Sherry) and Rev. John (Leisia) Bondurant, all of Columbus; sisters, Judy (Louis) Harper, Geri Clanton, Patty (Charles) Harris, June Evelyn Hurd, Carmen (Charles) Hill, Linda Turner, all of Columbus, Barbara Bondurant and Kathy Cohran, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; cousin, Alexander (Thelma) Bondurant of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian Marie Bondurant, whom he married in 1959, his parents Thomas and Grace Bondurant, sister Roberta L. Bondurant, brothers-in-law Jack Cohran, Larry Turner and Emmanuel Hurd. His body was entrusted to the PORTER-QUALLS FUNERAL HOME, 823 South Yellow Springs St., Springfield, Oh. Friends may call Saturday, January 23, 1999 at Central Chapel A.M.E. Church, Yellow Springs, Oh. from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at which time funeral service will be held with Pastor John Freeman officiating. The funeral procession will form at the church. Interment will follow in Glen Forest Cemetery. The final tribute is a service by PORTER-QUALLS FUNERAL HOME, INC.
