I'm in Kansas... My grandfather and most of the Bonecutter relatives of mine are in Missouri. My grandfathers relatives are in Indiana.

Idk if you will read this, as long as it has been since you posted, but I was researching Bonecutters for a friend and found your post about your branch having crossed with the Mayes in WV. My line comes through the Mayes, and I was wondering if you had any additional informaiton about your ancestor's first wife?

I know the last post on this subject was 2 years ago, but maybe the right people will read this? I hope.

I have some Buncutters that I am related to.

Roland L. Buncutter born abt 1878/79
I found him in the 1930 census for Stonewall, Frederick, Virginia. His last name is written Buncotter in this census.

His son, Harry Lee Buncutter (b. 4 Aug 1914 in Albin, Frederick County, Virginia and d. 4 Jul 1976, buried in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia) as well as a daughter born abt 1910/11 (since she could still be living I am not listing her name).

I also have Eva Elizabeth Buncutter (b. 12 May 1874 and d. 16 Nov 1916)daugther of Mathew and Katherine Buncutter. She married Clarence B. Barrett 17 Apr 1904 in Frederick County, Virginia.

We are rather distant relations as I connect to the Buncutters through the Barretts (Clarence B. Barrett is my 1st cousin 3 times removed).

Does anyone have any information on any of these Buncutters or their relations?

ASHLAND: LaDonna M. Lotz, 85, of Ashland, Ohio died December 16, 2010, at Brethren Care Nursing Home in Ashland.

Born June 10, 1925, in Shelby, Ohio she was the daughter of Homer and Gladys (Kissel) Bonecutter.

She retired from White Westinghouse as an administrative assistant, was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Westinghouse Girls Club and volunteered at the Renaissance Theatre. She was a very family orientated person, and was especially cherished by her son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Darlene Lotz of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Shelle (Joe) Knyszek, Lori (Terry) Shaw and Brent (Brenda) Lotz; great grandchildren, Jessica and James Jones, Colton and Peyton Shaw, and Brandon Lotz; a sister, Lavonne Raike of Florida; and two nephews, John and Terry Kelly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, James Thomas Lotz on October 10, 2010; and her son, James C. Lotz.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the funeral home conducted by Chaplains Gerald Gess and Chris Wilson.
Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Richland County, Ohio

Thank you. I did see this link, but I was hoping to find something a little more concrete. It seemed to be somewhat of a guess. I looked into it some more and tried to do some research on Martin Bonecutter, but could not find anything to link him to Elizabeth. I was hoping someone else might have some more information.

I am researching a Bonecutter line that includes a Christopher Bonecutter but he doesn't tie into the Bonecutters I see in your thread. He was born in Ohio about 1816 and was married to Charlotte Hefley. Their children as far as I can determine were Mary E. (1840), William (1841), Sarah and Leah - twins? - (1844), John (1 Jun 1846), Lydia (1854), Sidney (1848), Susan and Lucinda - twins? - (1849), Jesse (1852) and Pheber (1856) all born in Ohio. The line for which I'm interested goes on down through John who m. Rebecca Delilah Manville 16 Feb 1879 d/o George W. Manville and Mary Ann Rogers. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am actually working on this family because my daughter is married to Brett Bonecutter so am searching for his family information for my grandchildren. I see that some people have listed Martin Bonecutter (b. 1775) and Elizabeth Loy (b. 1792) as Christopher's parents.

The George Bonecutter that I know of is buried at the Bowen Cemetery in Wayne Co. WV,next to his wife,Rosa Kendrick Bonecutter. George died at his apt. in Huntington,WV.

Certainly you should post anything you find out.

I am the GGG grandson of Levin and Sarah Ann (Bonecutter) McFarland. Sarah Bonecutter was born ca. 1775 probably in Frederick County, VA, died after 1850. I do not yet know her father.

As I indicated earlier, I think that all the Bonecutters should assume they are related, the name being so rare. I am in contact, directly or indirectly, with other bonecutter researchers, we should try to share our finds to establish the connection.

Sarah's father is reported in one biography of a grandson to have fought in the Revolutionary War - I will be checking for any Bonecutter records at the archives this week, will let you know if I find anything.

My guess is that it was George Bonecutter, b. 1856 but so far I only came up with that name through the process of elimination. We should be able to figure out the mother's name from an earlier census.

Bonecutter-Allen Marriage

There was an Alice J. Bonecutter who married William F. Allen in Adams County, Ohio. They obtained their marriage license in October of 1877. I also posted a Martin Bonecutter (b. abt. 1789) who married Betsey Whaley elsewhere, they were also married in Adams County. I am not a direct descendant, I just have some of the family names in my tree as very minor offshoots :)

There was a Martin Bonecutter who married Betsey Whaley on Jan. 5, 1810, by Rev. Jos. Moore. This was in Adams County, Ohio. I read somewhere that there was another Martin Bonecutter. Perhaps if you compared the ages, it would help you to narrow down the correct Martin. Also, many of the Bonecutters moved just north of Adams County into Highland & Clinton counties. Happy Hunting!
