I'm searching for William J BONES,(born abt 1899) from Barking, Romford, Essex, do you have any connection? He married my gt aunt, Emma Elizabeth Goddard (born 1902), in Romford, Essex in 1922, Emma Elizabeths' sister is Florence Nellie Goddard (my grandmother (born 1898). Their parents were Alfred and Caroline Goddard (nee Howlett). They lived in Barking, Romford, Essex, in the early 1900s. It was basically, "a shot in the dark", re: Bones family from Essex, I don't know anything about them, only the fact that my gt aunt, Emma Elizabeth Goddard, born 1905, in Romford, Essex, married William J BONES, about 1922, in Romford, Essex. Further to my previous reply I have just found Horace George Bones marriage to Elvina French. It was in 1900 in Wormingford. So Horace must have returned to England during the interim years. How do you know about Horace and his emigration to Canada. Are you related to the Bone's family. I am a Bones by birth.

Hi Barbara, I'm searching for my grandmothers brothers and sisters, they were from Barking, Romford, Essex. My grandmother was Florence Goddard, b. 1898-1987. Her sisters are Winifred, Mary, Emma, and brothers were Alfred and Albert. I know that Mary Goddard married, Thomas G Fisher, about, 1925, and Emma Goddard married, William J Bones, about, 1922. I think Winifred married William Wright, about 1913. Then later married Alleyn Hattley, about, 1917. I would like to know of any children they may have had. Do you have any connection with this family, if so I would be very grateful, if you could let me know, many thanks, from Joan Harvey, from Erith, Kent.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I hope that I am able to contact you through this web site, because I am Jacqueline Kay Bones' (now Hennig) daughter!!! Yes I too am descendant from Richard & Ellen and would love to hear more & see your old photos of them.
I am descendant from there oldest child George Leeves B 1840 (brother Of Esther) he married Mary Ann Bellingham and had a son Edwin Leeves my great great grandfather who married Amy ELiza Hutson and had my great grandmother Ethel Beatrice Leeves who married a chap Thomas Dyer from Damerham, Wiltshire and here we are.
I have pictures of Amy Eliza Hutson and husband Edwin Leeves if you would like them I can email them to you.

This seems to be quite an old thread, but I've only just come across it, so hopefully some of you are still checking back for updates!

My great grandmother x3 was Ellen Bones, born in 1818 in Wadhurst. I have a photo of Ellen, taken when she was middle-aged, and also one of her husband Richard Leeves, taken around the same time. I also have a photo of one of their daughters, Esther Leeves, from whom my line descends. Unfortunately I've not been able to get back further than Ellen, so have no idea who her parents are.

Would love to hear from anyone here who might be a distant relative!

The Bones and the Leeves that you are talking about are part of my history too!

My Nan was Yvonne Lavender (Nee Leeves), her mother was Annie Leeves (Nee Baitup) who married Charles Leeves in 1913. They had the following children; Yvonne, Nancy, Cecil, Derek, Gerald, Donald, Dennis. Quite alot of the Leeves are buried in Warbleton Church cemetary.

I know that I have Ellen Bones & Richard Leeves as Great x ? somewhere as they are parents of my ancestors. Percy Potten Leeves is apparently in my family somewhere and I am trying to piece them all together.

The Leeves that I am tracing are all from Heathfield, Warbleton, Waldron areas of Sussex.

Can anybody help me with further information?

Esther I am really gobsmacked that you have Ellen Bones death certificate. I don't suppose anyone has any old photos from the Leeves side of the family? I would love to obtain some as we have none at all from the past.

I know that Charles Leeves is in a book somewhere as part of a football team.

I would love to hear from anyone with any further info.

Ewell Eugene Bones

Toledo- Toledo's only barber for many years, Ewell Eugene Bones, 73, died at his home in Toledo, Thursday, Sept. 15.
He was born Dec. 27, 1903, in McMinnville, Ore., and was also a rancher. Mr. Bones lived in the Toledo area for 48 years, coming from San Francisco, Calif. He was a member of the Baptist Church in McMinnville, Ore., Centralia-Chehalis Elks and the Lone Yew Grange.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda, at home: a daughter, Bonnie Prebula, Honolulu, Hawaii, and three grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel, Toledo, with the Rev. KEnneth Killan and Brother Bob Clark officiating. Interment will be at the Toledo Cemetery. Pall bearers are Wilfred Smith, Arlan Lyon, Leonard Enger, Howard Strout, All Mattson and LeRoy Cox. I have just found the Bones surname in my tree.

There is an Alfred Bone in the 1861 census. He is 4 years old.
Do you know who your Alfreds father was?

Just found your message posted on the web. I too am descendant from the Ellen Bones & Richard Leeves. Their first son George B.1840 Wadhurst is my 3x grt grandfather, so I believe as trying to find a his registered birth is a problem! But in 1901 Ellen & Richard were living him and his family. The census has them down as 'Teeves'. Some of the spellings they have!!!??!!

George B.1840 married Mary B.1843 and had Frances Harriett, Polly, William, Edwin, Emily, Esther Faith, Albert, Rosey & Eliza. Edwin is my great great grandfather he married Amy Eliza Hutson in 1895 Strood Kent. And had 8 children (Eveline Frances, Edwin Daniel, Ivory Amy D, Leslie, Roy Edward Amos, Mabel Annie, Violet) & Ethel Beatrice B.1895 who is my grt grandmother. She met her future husband Thomas Dyer at Shorne Kent when he was injured during the war. And then moved back to damerham, Wiltshire after they got married in 1920.

It was sad to read that Ellen died in the Tonbridge Poorhouse.

Where do you fit in? Any information on the above would be wonderful. My Gran & her brother (son/daughter of Ethel Beatrice Leeves & Thomas Dyer) are alive and kicking into their 80's now and find it as fascinating as I do. My gran has photos of Edwin Leeves & Amy at 3 Robins Cottage at Shorne, as well as various cousins who visited.

Are John Bones and Ann any relation to Delilah Hickerson, who married John H. Bones? They were married in Washington Co, KY and moved to Boone Co. IN. Delilah was in the IN 1850 IN census with a daughter Susan Anna McMillin and son, Leonidas, living with them. Would love any info you had on this family!
