Family of Ralph Richard Boney and Ida May Roadybush, Armstrong Co., PA

Seeking information about the family of Ralph Richar Boney (1892-1974) and Ida May Roudybush (1898-1966) of Armstrong Co., PA. Robert and Ida had 13 children and I can reasonably document the 7 older children (all born before the 1930 census), but I am having major problems with the 6 who were apparently born after the 1930 census.

Robert W. Boney was a coal miner (1910); an RFD mail carrier (1930) and a farmer (1942). Robert and Ida (along with two sons, Robert W., Jr. and Frank) are buried in the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Center Hill, Armstrong Co., PA

The children are:

Ruth Martha (1917-2001), married Robert Clair Baum

Edith Jane (1919-2010), married John Charles (Chuck) Shields

James Richard (1921-2010), married (1) Rose ??; married (2) Elizabeth K. Bowser

Mabel (1923-2001), married William Levi Titus

Howard Frank (1924-1949), unmarried; U.S. Navy seaman in World War II

Robert William, II (1926-1951), unmarried; U.S. Army in World War II and Korean War (killed on active duty)

Ralph W. (1929- ??), marital status unknown; apparently living in Jacksonville, FL in 2010.

Carrie (aft 1930- ??), married Robert Dunn

Ida May (aft 1930- ??), married James Murphy

Lloyd R. (aft 1930 - ??), married Donna ??

Martha (aft 1930 - ??), married Kenneth Gray

Mary Elizabeth (aft 1930 - ??), married Lonnie Emile Fair

Norman Leroy (aft 1930 - ??), married Shirley ??

Seeking information about the birth date and place of the above; the same for their spouses; the parents of their spouses; children, etc.

This is part of an effort to trace the descendants of my 4 X great grandfather, Alexander Negley (1734-1809) of Pittsburgh. I trace my ancestry back to his son, John. Robert W. Boney is a 3 X great grandson of Alexander Negley, through Margaret Negley and Philip Burtner.

Willing to share information

Bill Muller
muller1938@gmail.com

Marguerite (or Margaret, or Margrett) Davis Boney, wife of JJ Futch

Hi, I'm trying to track down the ancestors of my several times great-grandmother, Marguerite Davis Boney. (She was known as "Davis".) Davis Boney was born in NC in 1867, and died in Burgaw, Pender Co, NC in 1956.

She was married to James Jacob (JJ) Futch, also from the Burgaw area.JJ Futch was born in 1862 in Burgaw, New Hanover (now Pender Co), NC to Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Futch, who later married a Rivenbark. The identity of JJ's father is unknown, but he almost certainly was NOT Mr. Rivenbark. JJ Futch died on 13 July, 1936 in Burgaw, Pender Co, NC.

Davis Boney and JJ Futch had numerous children, one of whom was my maternal grandfather, George Winter Futch, born in Burgaw on 2 February 1896, and died in a hospital in Fayetteville, Cumberland Co, NC. (Altho my grandfather lived his entire life in and around Burgaw, in Pender Co.) His date of death was 16 October (November??), 1962.

I have been told that my Marguerite Davis Boney was the daughter of a Samuel J Boney who married a Dicey Jane Herring, and that this Samuel was the son of another Samuel Boney who came from Sarecta in Duplin (or Sampson?) Co, NC to (then) New Hanover, now Pender Co, where he married an unknown woman whose maiden name might have been Rivenbark. I have been told that Samuel Jr's unnamed mother died at or just after his birth, and that he was reared by two "old-maid" aunts or great-aunts named Rivenbark. I can neither prove nor disprove this, altho some census records for Samuel Boney Jr and his wife Dicey show a woman in the household named Rivenbark, altho oddly enough it does NOT indicate that she is a relative!!

Sorry to be so long-winded, but this line is soooo frustrating and I seem to have hit a brick wall. I would also love to find out more about Dicey Jane Herring's ancestry--I have no clue who her parents were, although apparently they lived in New Hanover/Pender Co for many years.

I would SO APPRECIATE any help!!!

My email is orangeblossom17@gmail.com.

Thanks! :-)
Patti

Additional Information

Joel F. Boney, 63, passed away on October 12, 2010, ten years after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His wife and two daughters were by his side at his death In Fort Collins, Colorado.

Joel was a very intelligent man with a gentle soul and quick wit. Throughout his life, Joel's calm demeanor, quiet humor and his ability to tell a good story captured the hearts of family, friends and co-workers. His genuine enthusiasm toward how things works was reflected in his ability to explain simply the water flow of toilets and car engines to computer microprocessors. In general, he had a lot of fun engineering.

Joel grew up in the hills of southern Ohio along the banks of the Ohio River with his mother and father, Herbert and Berneda Boney and his two older brothers.
His mother was a graduate from Marietta College, and his father a WWII veteran and grocery store owner.
The hills and hollers in his backyard and his chemistry set provided all the necessary resources to inspire a young mind.

During his teenage years, his family moved to Sarasota, Florida where he attended high school, enjoyed clown school for PE, and created a lifetime of fond memories as a young employee of Dairy Queen. He continued his education at the University of Southern Florida with a degree in engineering and later received his masters in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin.

Joel loved running and hiking in the outdoors. His adventures took him bicycling and traveling to Peru, Canada, Mexico, and Europe as well as hiking in his own backyard of the Rocky Mountains. He liked to work hard, and play even harder.

His ability to communicate and to put life into perspective using humor allowed him to write with another coworker about a fictitious customer site visit that after getting a number of marketing memos describing what extraordinary features customers wanted in an upcoming microprocessor. The humorous take of the memo helped some his coworker engineers to view the corporate world a little less seriously. And, of course he helped coworkers and friends to take up bicycling as a lifelong hobby.

As a member and manager of several hardware performance teams, Joel was a calming influence that kept a diverse group of people going in the same direction. His quiet leadership left quite a mark on those organizations and the individual team members. They have and will continue to miss him greatly.

In Austin, Texas in the 1980's, Joel was a lead architect on the Motorola 6809 and 6805. He was a key contributor to the design of most of the early Motorola MPU's and MCU's, several of which are still in production (after 25 years!). His keen attention to details made him an excellent hardware architect and designer. He was a master with floating point numbers and did some nifty cryptography. Aside from the many engineers he's led, Joel helped implement and document the standards for how numbers and exceptions in the use of numbers can be implemented in hardware (IEEE 754-1985 and others). These ideas are part of every computer you use. Joel's work accomplishments will outlive us all.

In the early 1990's he worked for Solbourne Computer in Longmont, CO then he moved on to Hal Computer (Fujitsu) in San Jose, California into the mid 1990's. Joel finished his career at Hewlett Packard in Fort Collins, CO.

He is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Gloria Ackley with whom he shared many wonderful adventures; his daughters, Robin and Gena Boney; (Steve Meehan) with his former wife (Rebecca Hill) and his grandson, (Declan Joel Meehan). Also, he is survived by his brothers, David (Kathy) Boney, Edwin (Susan) Boney and his nieces and nephews. And his friend of 48 years, Roger Myers.

Alzheimer's disease stole the last ten years of Joel's life, but his faithful companions – his golden girls, Maggie Mae and Dakota helped make each day more bearable with their unending love and devotion, and ensuring his safe arrival home after each run or hike around the neighborhood.

His family wants to acknowledge and thank all of the staff of Brookdale Senior Living (Claire Bridge Alzheimer's Care) and Pathways Hospice for their excellent care and for their warm and caring hearts.

Joel's ashes will be taken back to Marietta, Ohio for a family service. A future memorial celebration will be held at his home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Larimer Humane Society, or the Food Bank for Larimer County in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.

I did not recognize the names you listed but I know the Boney's of Upshur County Texas did come from Louisiana. Believe my Alsead parents were Norval Bonin and Coralie of St Martin Louisiana. 1850 Census Petite Ance, St Martin, Louisiana lists, Norval Bonin 35, Coralie 30, Elizabeth 14, Telesphore 12, Oneziphore 10, Zepherin 8, Evariste 5, Alcide 3, and Offelia 1. I believe they later went by the name Boney. Have found both Boney and Bonin.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Boney family from Kimball, South Dakota

I am seeking information regarding Mary (Ryan) Boney and John Boney of Kimball, South Dakota. They had a farm near Kimball, South Dakota. This family is related to mine through the Ryans. Mary and John married in Tipperary, and moved to Allamakee County, Iowa, with other family members. Later, they spent a short while in Nevadaville, Colorado, in a mining camp before settling in Brule County, South Dakota. We have lost track of the Boney family and would be interested in early family history and a picture of Mary and John, if available. We also have a baptismal record of Mary in Ireland. Thank you.

Amy: Just saw this old post. There is a Jacob Boney in the 1790 census for Craven Dist. SC. Is he your ancestor? Trying to place him. There are so many Jacob Boneys. Thanks, Martha
