John Bongard was my great-grandfather. The brothers, I believe there were more than 4, mined in Calaveras County where John was killed in a mine cave-in. My mother and I have a bit of information that would be happy to share. Know a little about the other members of the family but have lost touch with Victor Bongard's descendents.
