Came across this early Boneface [sic] reference: "Extent of the Earl of Gloucester's part of Jerpoint, 22 May 1289. . . by the oaths of ...William Boneface..[and 12 others]."
“William Boneface holds a cottage with 2 curtileges and 4½ acres of land, paying 4s 6d a year at the same terms, and owing suit of court and mill.
“John Iwenot holds a stang [rood] of land that William Boneface held before, paying 3d a year at the same terms, and owing suit of court, etc.
“William Boneface holds a cottage with curtilege. paying 2d a year at the same terms, and owing suit of court and mill as above.”
The above were situated in the village of Newtown Jerpoint, now long since derelict, in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
I am grateful to the Heritage Coucil of Ireland for allowing me to post this extract, contained in Heritage Plan No11 from the Council.

Can anyone confirm via marriage cert or other paperwork if Sarah Boniface born c1745 Sussex married Francis Booker (1749-1806)who was born in Eynford, Kent. One of their children was called Francis Booker(1787). I am interested in seeing the actual record if possible.

Harold George Francis

Hi,

I'm trying to find information on my g-grandfather Harold George Francis. I don't know much about him but I have his parents listed as Edward Francis and Mary Ann Vardy.

According to my aunt, Mary Ann died during childbirth (?). According to online resources Edward was related to the Boniface family via Elizabeth Francisco (nee Boniface) though I have not seen any official document that confirms this.

Harold served in WW1 and he married Lily Margaret Coral Genge (looking for the Genge family also). They had 4 Children, Brian, Valma, Mary(my grandmother)and Kenneth. All children are deceased though Brian is still living.

If anyone has any information on Harold or his family line, I will be happy to hear from you and to exchange info.

My wife is the grand daughter of Daphney Dora Bailey (nee boniface) who had a brother called William robert Boniface he would have been your grand father, his son Geoffrey would have been born c1930 and had a sister Dora k Boniface born c1928 both births registerd Chertsey . A relation told us of Geoff playing at the Atlanta .

OK my Bonifaces are from Beeding ,near Shoreham in Sussex.
I have only got as far back as George(died 1875) and Jane
The family seem to have all been Bargemen working on the River Adur into Shoreham Harbour.The river silted up, and Beeding hasn't changed much. I have a bit more info for you if these are the right Bonifaces.Thomas Boniface left bargeing for the railway in the 1840s or thereabout.

I have Frederick Boniface and his wife Mary Jane nee MUSTIAN.

They are recorded as being in Quebec...1911 They are there and shipping records have them arriving in 1903 from UK. Does anyone have this line in there records?

Frederick was born in 1843 in Epsom, Surrey, UK. Mary Jane was born in 1839 in Chichester, Sussex, UK. They married in 1864 in Croydon, Surrey, UK and had eight children that I know of.

Frederick was the son of Charles and Elizabeth nee Graham.
Mary Jane was the daughter of Merrick MUSTION and Ruth nee HAMMOND.

In Vancouver B.C. there are Boniface's derived from Sussex and my father who immigrated to Canada in the late 1950's. In Sussex we have a long family line.

I read your "relatives" and remember Maggie & Shadrach Jesson.
We visited them in 1972 while visiting England. Sadly it was only for the day and I never followed up with other relatives of theirs. If you are a long lost relative Email me and we can compare.Would love to see pictures of Ernest,Walter,Maggie which were grandads brothers and sisters.Ernest joined the army with Geoge W.H.A. but I couldn't find any more info on him. Did he and Walter return to England ?

Hello,
The furthest I can go back is George Boniface,Bargeman, and Jane from Upper Beeding.
Their son Thomas 1818-1898 and Esther also Up.Beeding who became a Railway Foreman in Brighton,my gg grandparents.
There seem to have been two George Bonifaces in Beeding born around the same time,each with similar families!

I have in my records William Boniface (1868) married to Kate
(1869) bpt. Paddington.

Children: Eliza Matilda (1888) William J. (1892) Ellen R. (1895) Horace G. (1899) Jessie V (1901) Ethel May (1901) Albert (1902) Kate (1906) and Ada (1908).

I have Eliza Matilda married to Thomas Alfred Morgan in 1909 at Hendon. They had 2 daughters Amelia Louise (1908) and Florence Maud (1909) and James Alfred (1910).

Do you think we are of the same family? I am researching the Morgan family.

You must be descended from George Boniface and Lucy Verrall. My husband's family also descend through their son James Boniface who came to Riverton, New Zealand about 1848. He had nine of a family. Your ancestor Elizabeth was one of his sisters. You may contact me on rn-le-boniface@xtra.co.nz

My mother was Rose Ellen Boniface b. 1917 at 17 Denton Road,
Willesden to William Jospeh Boniface b. 1892 in Paddington & Alice Jacob also b. 1892 in Paddington. They had another daughter Ellen Rose b. 1913 in Willesden of whom I can find no further trace. William Joseph was the son of William Boniface b. 1867 in Brighton. Moved to Paddington between 1881-1891. William Joseph's siblings were: Elizabeth Mathilda b. 1889, Ellen Rosina b. 1895, Horace b. 1899, Albert b. 1902, Kate, b. 1906 & Ada b. 1908 presumably all in N. London. If you think you have any info whatsoever on any of the above I would love to receive it.

Hi, my family lived in Willesden. My great grandfather, Albert George Boniface married Alice Rose King in Hampstead in 1896. They had 8 children, and I know that they lived at 1 Goodson Road, Willesden in 1903 when Alma, my grandfather's sister was born. Albert was born in Iping, Sussex in 1873. Does this help at all? I think that Thomas Boniface's parents were George Boniface, another bargeman on the Adur,who was born 1798 died in 1875 in Beeding, and his wife Jane.I went to the Sussex records office back in the summer, Dave and I went to Beeding later in the year, it hasn't changed much!will

Charlotte's parents were John Boniface (son of John Boniface and Elizabeth Farrendon) and Elizabeth Boniface (daughter of George Boniface and Elizabeth Tregoose). If Elizabeth was Charlotte's mother, what was her maiden name - you say that she was the daughter of George Boniface??

Charlotte's parents were John Boniface, son of John Boniface and Elizabeth Farrendon; and Elizabeth Boniface, daughter of George Boniface and Elizabeth Tregoose. All baptised in Eastergate with perhaps the exception of Elizabeth Tregoose have no baptism for her.

Amos Boniface descendants L.Beeding and Norwood

My great grandfather was Amos Boniface b.1853 to James and Elizabeth in Lower Beeding. He was the 9th child.
He married Emma Haynes 1878 in rectory Place Chapel Woolwich. He was an itinerant worker (a saw sharpener)at the time, her father was the inspector of water works in Charlton.
She died giving birth to Winifred Emma Boniface. The baby was taken to the country and brought up in her early years by his sister Fanny in L. Beeding.
Later he became an engineer ,remarried an Elizabeth Snelling, a widow with 5 children. They had a son Amos James. Winifred returned to her father's house when she was about 2 years?
Amos James (1886)married Edith Lilian Percival 1908 and had a son Percival Amos 1908. Amos James had an horrific death at the age of 26. He became an electrician and was severly burned whilst on a job in Southwark and died in Guy's Hospital.
Winifred Emma Boniface married in 1913 to James Hendry Barkus in Edmonton North London. They had 7 children including a set of twins and triplets ,one of whom died.
There are about 73 descendants from this family at the last count.
Most live in Shoreham by Sea Sussex where Winifred Boniface Barkus moved to during the war. Winifred died in 1963 at the home of her daughter Winifred May one of the twins. Others live in Eastbourne or Surrey.
One son and 4 of her grandsons emigrated to Australia and lately a great granddaughter and a greatgreat grandson.
There are about 18 descendents living in Sydney and Brisbane.
I would like to know what happened to Percival Amos Boniface
and Fanny Boniface and her family.

Sorry Terri but I don't know the names of my father's
parents. I never knew them as they were killed in the
London blitz which cleared both sides of Ogilvy Street
opposite the Royal Artillery barracks in Woolwich London.

I only know the names of my uncles on the Boniface side
George Edward and William they married sisters of my mother
allfrom the Nixon family.

Mary Ann Boniface born 1843 in Beeding,was my great grandmother.

Her father was Thomas Boniface 1819-98 born Lower Beeding,

(Bargeman on River Adur, 1843,
Railway Foreman,Brighton, 1861 census.)

I believe that a James Boniface was Thomas' father,but apart from an entry in the 1841 census as Lighterman,born c1789, have had difficulty getting any further back,

I am new to this site so please forgive any mistakes. I found via GRU site and this site the above subject tree.I found my brother and myself and I nearly fell off the chair when my Father Douglas was married according to the tree before my mother. May I put the record straight that Douglas Arthur Boniface/Bonington(name changed by deedpoll in 1955) Married Maureen Davies in 1955 and was not married to Kathleen Elizabeth Geurin. The Douglas that was married to Kathleen was Douglas Alfred Boniface on 10th Sept 1948. His father was Robert Alfred Boniface a motor fitter who was living at 5 Pembridge Mews, Pembridge villas London W11.They had a daughter Christine born in 1949.I have the marriage certificate in hand if it is of any help to anybody or helps with their tree. I went to Kensington registry office to put my inqusitive mind at ease. I look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in this thread
