My daughter in law is related to the Bonines and I was wondering how much it would be to get a copy of the Bonines in America book? I am doing her Family Tree. She is the Granddaughter of Frances Jean Bonine.

Thank you
Ruth Schneider

E-L-I-A-S Elias Bonine- Please help me,please??

( E L I A S ) Elias Bonine is, according to Ancestry.com and all of my own decades of personal research, my original American ancestor and appears to have come from France. I don't know what port in France he departed or name of the boat or port he arrived in the USA. I also don't know his DOB/DOD or
marriage[s]? I also don't know the names of his children, whether born in the USA or France?

My grandfather was Buford Bonine died in Cleveland OH, his father was Andrew Jackson Bonine, his father was Nathan bonine, his father was Andrew Jackson Bonine, THEN it gets confusing from this point until I reach ELIAS?? ALL those Bonine's I mentioned, except for Elias, are from Tennessee,
counties of Hamilton,Bradley,Meigs,McMinn,Rhea, cocke, polk, nearly all the counties were the in Southeastern TN section. Nearly all subsequent Bonine's ended up in the Chattanooga area[Hamilton CO]

If you can help, even if the detail seems unimportant to you could be exactly what I've been searching for all these years.

Thanks to all and I hope to hear some replies :-)

P.S. I started seriously researching my BONINE side nearly a decade ago and find my frustration has turned into clinical depression. I don't know why I've mentioned this except maybe that this is literally the only group that could understand my plight. Thanks AGAIN.

I have been working on my Bonine ancestry for about six years. No one has been able to prove the connection between Issac and the other families you are speaking of. His lineage just stops with him, as far as I know. I do believe I can trace him to my Bonine family that resided in Morgan County, MO. My gr-grandmother, Sarah Jane Bonine, was born there. I wish I could be of more help.

I have a pretty detailed letter from Maxine Bonine dated 1987 whose husband Charles was a direct decsendent of Jacob Bonine. I'll be happy to make a copy and send it to you. My line is from Isaac and Sally (Merritt. Maxine and I spent a lot of time searching for both Jacob's and Isaac's father but we never could find that missing generation. Isaac was married in 1826 in Maryville. In 1831 was listed on tax rolls in Roane Cty. Migrated to Versailles, MO (Merrit family members went along too) and first surfaces in 1850 census. His youngest son John Warren is my ggrandfather. He went to Texas. Have pretty extensive info but far too much to copy and send. My address is 1726 Gray St., Geneva Il. 60134.
My grandfather was 'buford bonine' married to 'OdialBell Keys'
His father was 'Andrew Jackson Bonine"
His father was "Nathan Kelly Bonine"
and his father was 'andrew jackson bonine'

I have a Birth and Death Certificate for BUFORD
And a Death certificate for the more recent Andrew Jackson Bonine. Many of these death certificates list unprovable names of parents or 'unknown' listed as father and mother's name.

Then I get messed up... A Father, of someone, named 'Jacob Bonine' then nothing else... no fathers, brothers, children or wives beyond the 1st 'Andrew Jackson Bonine'

Also, 99.9% of these people all lived in either Hamilton, McMinn, Meigs or Bradley counties in TN.

I do believe this all leads to some Bonine 'issac?' who got off the boat and lived for a while in Penn Cass Pennsylvania, and some other cities in PA.

There seems to be an unconnected link from Issac of Penn and my Bonine's in TN.

Can someone help me connect some dots and fill in some blanks??

thanks

I'm a descendant of Jacob Bonine also via his oldest son, William Lee,via Jacob(Jake),via Joseph Edward, via Joseph Frederick(Fred). I've hit a dead end with the elder Jacob also, although I've found some clues: In a document(dated Nov.1833) in Blount county I found reference not only to Jacob(then living in Knox county),but also to Moses Bonine, James Bonine(brothers? Is one his father?) and Henry Pesterfield(Jacob's father-in-law or brother-in-law). Also Jefferson county records in the 1820's l provide a clue, but I don't have them with me. I'll have to look it up when I get a chance. My name is Phillip Bonine.
I am new to this thread by a few years, but I have been trying to find out about "this side" of my family for a few years now. My mother was Vivian Bonine, Clarence and Alex's sister. I just made a rather large discovery that I thought you might be interested in. Castle Garden is the location immigrants came into before Ellis Island. There is a non-profit group that is going through all the old records and making a searchable database. I just did a search for the name Bonin and up came three names that I recognized. Winzenz, Maria, and Regina Bonin from Germany. Winzenz is the German spelling for Vincent, and Maria is obviously the German spelling for Mary. They came on the ship Columbus on May 10, 1873 from Bremen, Germany. I remember my mom telling me that Regina was born right before they made the trip, so the fact that she is listed as 11 months old makes perfect sense. I believe this is the entrance record for our great-grand parents.

Hello,

My name is Tom Bonine. You may have seen a couple of my posts from past years. I don't know how much infor you have on Jacob. Twenty years ago I had corresponded with Maxine Bonine, Chatta. Tn, who was married to a Charles Bonine. He's is descended from Jacob. I am descended from the Isaac Bonine-Sally Merritt union in Blount Cty., 1826. My line is Isaac/John Warren/William Thomas/James Abner/William Thomas...and then myself, also a William Thomas. The great mystery is the missing parentage of Isaac and your Jacob. Maxine and I thought it was possible that they were brothers. No one has ever been able to find the link.

I have all of that info about James and Viana and their children. However, it is info on my gr-grandmother, Sarah Jane Bonine, that I can't find. I know where she was after 1902, but can't find anyone who knew of her prior to that.
I still have not connected Issac to any parents, either. That is a dead end! Thanks for responding.I may call you again to just visit.

I have lots of info on James M. He was my gg-granduncle. His younger brother, John Warren, is my gg-grandfather. I have been to Versailles, visited James M. grave and site of Bonine home. Other siblings were William Thomas, (my name is same), and sister Permilia Ann (Crosswhite). James and Permilia stayed in MO. William married Sarah Bond. He died during the Civil War (not in battle). John Warren left for Texas around 1860-61. The big problem for our line is that know one yet kind find their grandparents. Parents Issac and Sally (Merritt) were last known to be alive in 1857. Who Issac's parents were is a huge missing generation link.

Tom Bonine

Re: Charles Bonine of TN, m. Fannie Davis

Hello there! I may have a partial answer to your question about Fannie Davis as I believe she was married to my granddad (Charles Bonine, Sr.) of Chattanooga, TN. As I understand the story, my granddad was in the U.S. Army in France during the Great War when his wife, Fannie, died. I believe the newborn child also died. Anyway, my granddad was born in March 1888 in McMinn County, TN near the town of Athens. My granddad remarried (to my grandmother, Dora Blair Bonine) and they lived most of their lives in Red Bank, TN, a small town outside Chattanooga. They had three children, Robert, Charlotte, and Charles (my dad). My grandmother died in 1968 and my granddad in 1973. I would be glad to get you in touch with my dad, Charles Bonine, Jr., as he can tell you much more than I can about my granddad and his first wife, Fannie. Please email me at geoengr001@msn.com and I will send you his email address. Kindest regards, Terry Bonine, Knoxville, TN.

Bonine Family

I have Isaac's parents as David Bonine born 1785 n Pennsylvania and Prudence Williams born abt 1790 married Blount Co, Tennessee abt 1808, will have to go thru notes to see where I got that info from,
Some of the Bonine's went to Oklahoma and Texas.
I have William Thomas(1863-1948) and Minerva;s first 3 children, John William, Minnie, and Martha born Brown Co, Tx, with James , Grover W, Synthia, Lucy, Ernest, and Mary being born in Oklahoma, Greer Co. and Emma born Roswell, Chaves Co, NM.
I did find John W Bonine in Greer Co, Oklahoma in 1898 and 1899, John R Bonine in 1899.
Census of 1900 Chaves Co, New Mexico, William T Minerva and 9 children, has Minerva and her parents all born Tennessee, and all their children born TX,
Census of 1910 Chaves Co, New Mexico, William T, Mervy, 6 kids, with John W, being born TX, other children being born either OLA or ALA, neighbors John R Bonine, wife Emma and a boarder Frank Williams, listing John R as being born Missouri and both his parents
Found William Bonine and second wife Mary "Molly" lived Weed, Otero Co, NM 1920.
Norman Bonine, son of John William -->William Thomas-->John Warren, recalls that in 1929 or 1930 Grandfather William and his father John William and 3 uncles, Warren, Abner and other one he couldn't remember all went to Wickenburg AZ, and bought a ranch to raise the Angora goats, soon the neighbors all had them, they went broke.

Papa Norman also says that the Bonine's from Oklahoma were Cherokee Indian, I have yet to find support for this. And he thinks possibly Minerva had some Indian blood also,
I believe John Warren was the only child of Isaac who went to Texas, I also show that his daughter Mary Ida died in Martha, Greer Co, OK 1891, that goes along with William Thomas and Minvera being there.
I have John William marrying Jessie Shipley, Pottawatomie, OK, 1910,

Charles Bonine of TN, m. Fannie Davis

I am working on my FIL's Davis history and trying to fill in some blanks for aunt's and uncle's he never knew.

I have nothing to go on except that I am told Fannie Davis (middle name may be Faro), married a Charles Bonine. And that she died in childbirth in 1918. I don't know if they had any children prior to that. She was born about 1883.

Most of the Davis siblings lived in the Chattanooga area during that time, but I cannot find a Charles Bonine on the census with a spouse with that name. She was still with her parents on the 1900 census at age 17, so I am thinking she may be on the next census with Charles. However, I am unable to even find her parents on any census after 1900, so I am still looking into that.

If these names sound familiar, please let me know.

Sandy
