Hello Bookmans,

I am not a Bookman but I am African American, I know that my family the Bogany's of Polk County Texas, have long been associated through marriage to Bookman's. I have reason to believe that Bookman's and Bogany's were slaves on the plantation of HW Augutine in Polk County and San Augustine Texas, after moving from Autauga, Alabama after moving from Fairfield South Carolina.

There are a lot of African American Bookmans in South Carolina,

Jacob Bookman of SC owned a large number of slaves.
