Hi All;
I'm new here, but I too am interested in the Bools surname. My Aunt Madeline O'Keefe married Frederick John
Bools B:Nov.10,1911(Lindsay) at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Lindsay ON Canada. Frederick's parents were: F: James Hardy Bools, M: Florence Mary Charlick.
Many thanks to anyone who can help in any way.
My email: bbriegel@cogeco.ca

My father is Harold Aubrey Bools, his fathers name was Frank, and he did die in TN. I think that Joseph was My Greatgrandfather, as my dad has said he served in the civil war. I would like to know your Mothers name, as my dad and his family had a falling out long before I was born. He refuses to talk about it, although he has regained contact with his children from his first marriage and has also gotten in touch with 1 sister, who is named Bonnie. I think his other sister may be named Phinnie, or some variation of that name, which is pronounced 'fee-nee'. Please feel free to contact me directly @"mikeysgrandma@yahoo.com". Thank You.

BOOLS family

Zadock Bools was my Great Grandfather!! I have been researching the Bools family for 25 years and this is the first posting I have ever seen. There were two Franks in the family, they both hopped a freight train together out of Chicago and were never heard from again. Zadock's son, Francis (called Frank) was born in 1876. If Zadock was your Frank's uncle then you may have some vital information that I have been desperately trying to find. Here is a summary of my info: My original ancestor came from France during the RW, I believe his surname was Boule. He settled in Worcester Co., MD. I have probate, land, military etc. records, but the name is spelled differently on every record (Bull, Bowle, Bowles, Booll)so it is hard to determine who is who. Several generations later, Zadock's father (George Henry)moved to Missouri. Zadock left home, went to Memphis, fought for the Union in the CW, married and moved to Chicago. I would love to hear from you (or anyone!) whose Bools family has French origins and I will be happy to share all information that I have found.

Just a brief posting to say that I am still out there in the UK trying, as time permits to research the name! I beleive it has Dutch origins and that the BOOLS came to Engaln in 12th Century to dig dykes or as captured prisoners of war. I have tried a mailing to a number of listed BOOLS in the USA but got no replies. I am interested in any info as to where the name originates in the USA.

Bools Family

What a surprise! Thank you for the message.You have far more info than I do. Through this site I recently discovered a cousin, who was born Brenda Bools. Her father is my mother-s long-lost older brother, Harold Bools. (It's a long story which I'll spare you for now. But according to this "new" cousin, our great grandfather was named Joseph. The family story ( from my mother) is that my grandfather, Frank, left Chicago when he was 8 or 9 years old because he didn't like his step-mother. He traveled the country and eventually met my grandmother in MS. They married and were going to move to Nashvill, but a friend offered them a place in Chattanooga, so they moved there (the family is on the 1910 and 1920 censuses. Grandfather Frank always said the family was originally French and was named D'Boule or something similar. My mother's brothers were Zadoch Benjamin (Jack) and Elmer (Ted). uncle Harold, now almost 84, is Harold Aubrey Bools and is in very poor health. No one on the Bools side of my family seems interested in genealogy, so I'm having a slow time at this. I hope you can follow this--I'm in a rush and excited to get the information. I live in Hawaii and have been ill so haven't been able to do much research in a while--kept hitting the proverbial stone walls. I am wondering when the "two Franks" went their separate ways...my grandfather never got in touch with his family in Chicago. He said he'd waited too long and was afraid that if he contacted them they'd think he wanted something from them. He was too proud and independent to let anyone think that. I recently found out, through my mother, that my ste-grandfather did contact the Bools family after my grandfather died...the Chattanooga branch was very unhappy that she went against Frank's wishes and did that). anyway, as you can see, almost all I have is hearsay. Would love to know more. My regualr email is: teeza@aloha.net

I look forward to hearing from you.

Theresa

I have yet to find any Bools who left England but I'm sure I will! My line of the family all seemed to grow cabbages in Lincolshire! although my brother, Chris Bools is now a doctor so there must be some brains from somewhere! Can we communicate direct or does it have to through this board?

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with info. on this surname. The particular Bools I'm seaching for is my maternal grandfather, Frank Bools, who died in Tn but was born in Illinois, probably between 1880-90.
I have found a Zadoch Bools in the Chicago census for 1880 and Zadoch was an uncle's name, so I think he is a relation. There's also a Joseph Bools who served in the Civil War from Chicago. I have no other info. on the family. thank you.
