There is much confusion on this John Couch...there are TWO different John Couch in two different locations.
** John Couch who married Eliz Besty Campbell Dec 1783 in Orange Co NC is different than the John Couch of Kentucky.**
John of Orange mother, a widow, was Mary (nee unkn) Couch & she married John Patterson in Orange Co 1777. The will of Mary unkn Couch Patterson of Orange names children of John & Besty (deceased)as Mary, Letitia, July, Eleanor & Elizabeth. All under 18 yrs of age.
Executors of will are: worthy friends Robert Campbell, Roger Daniel & John Couch.
Witnesses: Robert Couch & Roger "X" DanielOrange Co. Oct. 25, 1799 widow John Couch marries Susannah Smith d/o Martha & John Smith.
July 1823 in Mecklenburg Co NC John Couchs' WILL mentions a wife Susannah. Children as Polly, Letty, Julia, Ealinor & Elizabeth & John S. Julia married twice. She was a Civil War spy & Lived & Died in Ga. She was the only one of the girls to marry!
As you can see the John Couch & Elizabeth Campbell marriage in Orange CAN NOT BE KY JOHN COUCH.
***Ky John & Orange Co John both have the same DNA, but that is the only connection!***
Ky John married Mary Polly Boon & a QUESTIONABLE 2nd MARRIAGE TO ANOTHER ELIZABETH CAMPBELL OR CAN anyone prove there was even a marriage to Elizabeth JAMES?
Ky John also documented in Ashe Co NC.
Common sense should ask yourself, "How does a 500 lbs man survive today?"
500 lbs was the weight or size of the wagon, he drove, could carry. like a 3/4 or 1/2 ton truck of today.Ky John was not German,as stated, as today the DNA says English.
The connection of Orange & Ky Johns could be in England!
Mary Polly Boon parents are still questionable. Either a niece or cousin for sure.
***MUCH THANKS TO RUTH COUCH COUCH OF NC for finding & sharing this information***thank you,
lets talk!!!
