James C. “Jack” Bootes, age 55, of Erie,County, PA,
passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 3, 2009 ,
He was born in Erie on September 24, 1954.
Jack was self-employed as a sub-contractor.
He was very gifted as a jack-of-all-trades.
Jack was a lifetime active member of the Star
where he served as Secretary.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam Era.
He loved riding motorcycles,
drag racing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Vicky Bootes;
three sons, Josh Bootes (Jenn), Dustin Fohner (Danyelle) and Jonathen Bootes (Danielle); four sisters, Barb Cruz, Lori Meisel (Rick),
Joni Weidenfeller (Brent)
and Janice Gorski;
one brother, Michael Gorski;
one grandmother, Freda Shaffer;
seven grandchildren, Kayleigh, Ashlynn, Kalena, Gio, Paige, Kyanna and Wyatt;
many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews
and cousins .
and was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy “Pete” Bootes and Joyce Gorski;
his grandparents who raised him, Gert and James Bootes;
and other grandparents whom he loved dearly.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Thursday at 11 a.m, conducted by Rev. Rich Pearson of Lawrence Park United Methodist Church. A full military service will follow conducted by American Legion Carl Neff Post #571. Private interment will be held. Trying to find my family

My name is Courtney Bootes, I am using my mother's Ancestry account, and I am trying to find my family.

I am almost 18 and know nothing of my dad's side of my family. Absolutely nothing. I have no contact with him or my grandmother, so I have to try and find this out for myself.

I can give a little information, but not much.

My grandfather was Carl Bootes. He [possibly] came from California to Portland, Oregon where he married my grandmother, Mary Zoe d'Autremonte (I think that's how it's spelt...it's now Bootes), sometime between '50 and '57. My Grandmother said he was a chef, but we honestly don't know. He was last known to be in San Francisco, California. He had two children, Gregory and John.
He died sometime in (we think) California.

This is all I know.
