Good morning,

I do not have access to the UK records here on Ancestry. I am wondering if someone could help me with one. Under "British Commonwealth War Graves Register 1914-1918" there is a record of a William Bartlett Friskes Boothby. I have a William Bartlett Fiskes Boothby I am trying to find his parents. It is unlikely that these 2 people are not related, or even may be the same individual, however, the one I have was born in Ohio 10/18/1885 and died 4/1/1966 in Indiana. I am helping one of the grandchildren figure out where he came from.

If anyone could check that record out and share it with me I would be gratefull. Thanks alot,

You have a ton of relatives on my myspace, "boothby_reunion". I am actually working with Diane, daughter of Herschel to find information on your grandfather William B F Boothby. I now have a lead but I cannot access the record to see it.

On this Ancestry site, there is a record called "British CommonWealth War Graves Register 1914-1918". I have a feeling this may be the father of your grandfather, who might have come from England. Do you have any history of your grandfather talking about England at all?

100th Boothby reunion 2010

Good morning,

The reunion has concluded and it was a great day. The afternoon rains held off until almost all had left. We had a good meeting with 42 people present. There were several new faces I had not met previously, such as Dr. John Boothby and the family of one of our late historians, Dot Rounds. We have resolved some things for next year,

We will be doing a 20x30 tent as well as space for anyone wanting to camp or tent for the weekend. The t-shirts are a definate go as well. I am waiting on a quote to come back on the cost. Also, I plan on working on my book over the winter when things are slower so that will be available as well.

The last thing, I have a commitment from Bob Boothby for entertainment (banjobob). However, he stated we need a bass. He mentioned to me today that Mimi in Seattle may be of some assistance on that front. I would be interested in hearing any ideas. The banner was a big hit my brother bought. We thought next year we would take it down and have everyone present sign it, as well as have the Boothby Coat of Arms imprinted on it for next year.

As soon as I down load some pictures from today I will send them out. Thanks for coming today and the ideas that came out of it. Next years reunion will be August 22nd 2010 in imington, Maine where it all started. I did get an influx of recipes today and that seems to be something eveyone that participated in would still like to see happen even though there was not enough response this year. Thanks alot!

Whenever the men wavered he would grasp the colors, wave them in the face of the enemy, and call on the men to stand by him. 99th Annual Boothby Reunion

The reunion is held in August. This year my brother and I are collecting recipes from any and all family members to comprise a book to sell at the reunion this year to raise money for the 100th in 2010. It is held in Limington, where it began. I would like to have everyone participate if you would. The more recipes we collect the better and the goal is to have them by the first of June.

I hope you will participate and even consider coming. There is ample room for campers too and since most of the Boothbys from Florida to the west coast all originated from Maine at one point or another, we would love to have a massive showing and add to the wealth of genealogical data we already have. Feel free to write or email me. I would love to have you update family information that already exists as well as send me your addresses to add you to the mailing list early. My biological father was a Vinal Boothby. He was stationed in Wilmington Ohio in the late 1950's. He returned to Massachusetts before I was born. My mother recently passed which has left me thinking about my paternal family. Don't want to upset the apple cart but am curious about half-siblings.

Vivian, his WWII draft card provided little information except birth, employment and place. It was interesting to see he was missing 3 fingers from his draft card.

However, I looked at the 1910 census which shows a William Boothby, age 24, born about 1886 with parents listed. That may be a very strong lead in looking at that. If you cannot access the census records, or anyone searching him, feel free to email me and I will forward a copy of that along. Thanks alot.

I too am interested in William Boothby who was born in Ohio and died in Indiana. I think he had a sister Elizabeth and 4 half-brothers, Albert, JAmes, Fred & Elmer Hodge. And their mother was Hattie Mae or Hattie Jane Garrett from Ohio.I would love to have more info from you. Thanks. Judy

Benton Ami Boothby's mother is not Judith M. Thyng. She was his grandmother as is apparent from the 1900 Census where Benton is living in Shapleigh with Judith and Sewall Thyng, his grandparents.
His father was Ami Chellis Boothby and his mother was the daughter of Judith M Abbott and Sewall Thing: either Eldora (1860) or Roxanna B. (1858).
If any of Benton's living descendants could share information with me, I would appreciate it.

Carol L. Boothby, age 74 of East Springfield, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, March 21, 2008 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa. Carol was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Harry Brown and Hattie Clara (Ostrowski) Wadding.
She was the last of five children.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Carol graduated from high school and became a very dedicated wife to the late Warren "Boots" Boothby who passed away on September 15, 1996.
She helped him on the farm in the vineyards tying grapes and whatever else needed done.
When she wasn’t helping with the farming and the grapes, she was canning, baking bread
and raising her two surviving sons: James Paul Boothby ,
and Samuel Edward Boothby
who have always been by her side
keeping the farm going. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed crocheting, reading, bowling, roller skating,
and would get lost in painting pictures.
She was a member of the Federated Church,
and Past President of the Springfield Service Circle and was also a member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary of which she helped every year at the carnival baking pies and helping out selling car tickets. Family
and Friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening, March 25, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa. and are invited to attend Life Celebration Services there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastors, Barb English and Rick Plucknett, officiating. Searching for information to confirm a vague family story that Joseph and Samuel BOOTHBY were murdered sometime after the 1880's in Nebraska, circumstances unknown. They were descended from the BOOTHBY's that lived in Cherokee, Woodbury, Plymouth area of western Iowa in the 1880's. These BOOTHBY's had come originally to Clinton and Jackson County, IA in the 1850's from Appleby, Lincolnshire, England and then in the 1880's moved to western IA. They intermarried with KITCHEN, BRYANT, MATTOON.

Hi Tom, Your search for Laura Boothby draws my attention as I have a Laura A. Boothby b 22 Jan 1841 in Maine who married Benjamin Nevers on Nov 29, 1866 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine (His middle name may be William) Benjamin died in 1880 Sweden, Oxford, Maine. He was a farmer. Benjamin's father was William Nevers who married Hannah Holden, both born about 1820. I have that William and Hannah were born in Massachusetts.
The second Laura Boothby b Mar 28, 1898 in Sweden Oxford Maine. She married Harold M. Thomas. She is the daughter of Roswell B. Nevers and Cora May Abbott.
Roswell B. Nevers is the son of Benjamin Nevers and Laura A. Boothby.

Benjamin Williams Nevers father is William Nevers, mother Hannah Holden (we have a problem with their birth year - on line it says they were born in 1720- I don't think he could be 120 years old when they had Benjamin W. Nevers.It has to be a misprint, intentional or not. According to census, William Nevers was born in Massachusetts and his father is Samuel Williams SR who married Anna Wyman.

Hello,of course I have two Married names, but I am Inda June Boothby, my mother was June Boothby and she maried Carlise Boothby they were both from Marietta, and Macksburg and Harrietsville, Ohio. I had one brother Tony C Boothby that have expired some time back. My age is 56, I know my mother was born 1927 in Marietta. If this helps, let me know. William BOOTHBY was born 1760 in Scarborough, Maine, the son of Joseph BOOTHBY and Susan McLELLAN. He married Elizabeth WINKLEY, 1782, in Scarborough and died in Limerick, Maine in 1828. Elizabeth died in 1848. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and his widow received a pension for his military service. I found a record that contained their gravestone inscriptions, but the name and location of the cemetery were not given. Can anyone tell me where William and Elizabeth are buried? I am trying to trace back the parentage of Roby Randall Boothby, Sr and found his parents Sylvester and Sarah (Roby) Boothby in Michigan. It has stopped there with no further records. The 1910 census appears to show that Sylvester may have died young as it listed only Sarah and Roby. If anyone has further information Iwould greatly appreciate the assistance. Thank you

I am also looking for the same information. I am trying to determine if Josiah or James Boothby is the father of Rachel Boothby. I have found that both men married Rounds sisters. Josiah married Mary Rounds on Sept. 3, 1802 and James married Abigail Rounds on May 1, 1802. Either couple could be the parents of Rachel.

Rachel is my 4th great grandmother. Would love to hear from you or from anyone else researching this family.

She marries Truman Strong in Hamilton County, but I believe her father may be the James Boothby in the 1820 Williamsburg Twp, Clermont County, Ohio Census. I have a decendant, Samuel Boothby from Ulster, Ireland. His wife's name was Ester. I have info that he had 6 sons and 1 daughter but I only have the name of Josiah, born 14 Nov 1736, Baptized in Scarborough, Maine; died Dec. 1804, Clermont, Ohio.
