M. Helen Bopp, 97, of Sykesville, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Oakland Manor Assisted Living in Sykesville. Born May 24, 1912, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Christina Kleinsmith Manning.
She was the wife of George A. Bopp,
who died March 16, 1959.
She had been a homemaker for most of her life and a secretary for many years.
She had been employed by the Carroll County Bureau of Aging, until retiring at 86. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Community and a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Joseph Court in Eldersburg. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law M. Christine and J. Raymond Comes, of Sykesville; grandsons R. Keith Comes, of Sykesville, and G. Brian Comes, of Catonsville;
and a friend, Raymond Mitchener, of Catonsville.
She was predeceased by siblings Joseph,
Edward, Michael and Hugh Manning,
Anna May Carroll
and Lillian O'Malley;
and two nieces.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Baltimore.
