You know, I really dont know much of anything about them. I just know that my Frank Stumpf who was born around 1828 was born in Germany, came to the U.S. around 1856 and his parents did not come to America.

He lived in English River, Iowa the rest of his life, and his death certificate says that his mothers name was C. Bopp and his fathers name was Silvester Stumpf.

In this same small town in Iowa, 3 brothers with the last name of Bopp came in the 1870's and 1880's. So i figure they were nephews or perhaps cousins x-removed, and their records show that they came from Mosbach, Baden, Germany.

The Bopp brothers names were John, Rudolph and Daniel. They were born in the 1850's/60's i believe. I dont know where John may have eventually gone to, but Rudolph and Daniel remained in the same area of Washington County, Iowa.

The 3 boys parents are listed as Felix Bopp & Anna Reichert in the 1925 Iowa census. I dont think that Felix or Anna came to America, as each of the boys came by themselves, one at a time.

I'm curious - my mom didnt realize they were related to the Bopps that lived there in her small community, but said that the Bopps pronounced their name "bupp". Do you know if this is the same way your Bopps pronounced their name?
