Bord family

Hi! I was born Jennifer Bord in Youngstown, Ohio, 2/15/58.

My grandfather, Harry Bord, was the 10th child and only one of his siblings born in the U.S. (Monessen-sp?, PA). His family came over from a village in southern France--outside of Marseilles, I think. They mined coal in France, and mined coal in Pennsylvania, too.

A couple of my relatives have actually been to the village in France, two or three years ago, and have seen the name Bord in the church records there. We had always guessed it was a shortened form of some other name--not so!

Harry moved across the state line to Youngstown, Ohio, and ran a coal yard. I don't know where the other 9 siblings went, but I'm sure some of my aunts or uncles do.

We never heard of any Bords in other areas of the US. Is your family also of French descent, or is it your name from a different ethnic origin?

Harry Bord served in WWI, died in 1971. Had 4 kids, 12 grandkids, now a bunch of great-grandkids. We're spread all over the place.
