I need some Canadian help. Looking for information regarding Gilbert Bordeleau, born in 1842, my great-grandfather. The family was in the St Stanislas area of Quebec. He was listed on the Canadian 1881 Census, and wife, Basilice was listed as widow on 1900 American census. His family came to Lowell, Mass. in 1890. Don't know if he came with them or died between 1881 and 1890 or between 1890 and 1900. I would appreciate if anyone out there could find out anything on him. Thanks Elaine.

Paul E. Bordeleau WW2 Army Airborne

Hi. I am looking for him or his family. (He would have been born probably between 1915 and 1926)

He was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He started out in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion, HQ & S or medical.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Battalion and would like to have him contact me. If he is no longer with us, I'd like the family to touch base with me to give me a summary of his life since the service. This also will be in the book.

I have also succeeded in getting these WW2 Heros to touch base again with their comrades after not seeing each other for almost 60 years. Their reunions have been wonderful.

This project is so important because 17 million personnel files were destroyed in the 1973 file in St. Louis MO. I want to make sure that these men will never be forgotten and will be put in the history books for generations to come!

Thank you for all leads to help me on this tribute to our WW2 Heros.

Sincerely,
Tammy Paynter

Re: Yves Jean Bordeleau (Brittany, France--->Newfoundland)

Hello Carly,

I saw today your query from yesterday regarding "Yves Bordeleau" for which you arent't sure of the name spelling. In the following web page:

http://www.genweb.ca/nfdata/093/parish/sgb/marriage/sp_rc_m8...

in his marriage document from Feb 20, 1868, he is listed as "Yves Bourdoulon" from France. This spelling looks OK to me even though you mention having seen it different. However, I can assure you from my extensive database on the Bordeleau family that he is definitely NOT a Bordeleau. In fact, early on the 19th Century in France, there are no records of any Bordeleau family. This surname only survived here in Canada, and may now be found in may other countries, with the U.S. having the largest number outside of Canada.

Best of luck in your research of ancestors!

Claude Bordeleau
Kingston, Ontario
Yves Jean Bordeleau (Brittany, France--->Newfoundland)

Looking for any information and/or other descendants of Yves Bordeleau* (sic) born in Bigue, Bretagne (Britanny) France and immigrated to Newfoundland. He married Delphine Benoit (d/o Louis Benoit and Ursula Marche) in February 1868.

Children:
Florence 'Flora Anne" b. July 1869
Levi John b. Oct. 1870

*the spelling of this name seems to be very inconsistant where records are concerned. Have seen it listed Lebordelaux, Bordelau, Bourdoulon, Bourdoulous, Bourdeloup, etc.
