My Wife is related to Lizzie D. Borden but we don't know the exact connection. Her Great-Grandmother Bertha Maria Crane married a Andrew ?. Borden of Westport Mass. on Jun 5, 1897 and my Wife's grandmother Beatrice Melior-Borden born 7/9/1901 was their daughter.
Lizzes Dad was Andrew Jackson Borden born 1822 and died Aug 4, 1892 by the axe. We think he may be the name sake of my wifes g-grandfather. Unfortunately this connection was not a happy one to remember for those closely involved. Further the Borden's duplicated names (made namesakes) a lot so it's hard to search for the right person. The direct line down to Lizzie is well treated (no surprise) but her relatives are sparsely found (perhaps to avoid the scandel).
We know that Lizzie had no Borden uncles that lived past the age of 10 years and therefore no Borden first cousins. Lizzie had no children and no brothers either. It is possible she had a illegimate brother a William S. Borden but this is just a rumor to research on another day.
Lizzie did have 7 grand uncle Bordens one of which we believe my wife is related through. The names Thomas b. 5/1/1800, Richard b. 12/22/1805, Cook b. 1/18/1810, Ladwick b. 3/14/1812, Zephaniah b. 7/18/1814, Andrew Jerome b. 12/28/1816. We know a reported Jerome Borden (maybe Andrew Jerome Borden?) was a pal barer at Andrew Jackson Borden's funeral and it was stated he was a first cousin in that report.
Can you help us realized what the line is between these grand uncles of Lizzie's and the Andrew ?. Borden that married my Wifes great-grandmother Betha Crane is? This Andrew (middle?) Borden would likely be born in the 1870's to marry in 1897. Bertha and he divorced in 1914 in San Francisco.
