Peter's father was John Bodders/Borders c173X PA or GER, and he was in 1756 Bucks Co PA for Peter's birth and in 1786 Rowan Co NC where he moved his family before the Rev War and later obtained a NC Land Grant. I was aware that they are in the 1920 census in St. Louis as are Beulah's parents.
By 1920 Glenn and Beulah do have two chiildren but they are not listed in the 1920 census with their parents or grandparents - kind of a mystery. Much more information if you want. Ed

Thaddeus Glenn Borders 1890 NC-1825 & his wife Beulah Fisher Borders 1897 NY are listed in the census of 1920 St Louis City, Ward 23, without children. His Borders line runs back to Clarence A Borders 1856 NC, to Thaddeus Glenn Borders 1831 NC, to John Borders 1809 SC, to Michael Borders 1781 TN, and to Michael Bader/Borders 1751 Germany.
The family story is that the mother of Thaddeus Glenn 1831 NC was a Roberts who died at child birth, and John Borders 1809 NC acknowledged the child as his son. Wanda Ledwell of Dallas TX provided some of this data--nothing on your Glenn Borders/Miller.

Glenn Borders

I am searching for information regarding Glenn Borders, s/o Thaddeus Glenn Borders and Beulah Fisher. His father died 1925, AZ, and is buried in his hometown in Cleveland Co., NC. His mother remarried to a Russel Ray Miller. The son Glenn assumed (supposedly not legally) his stepfathers name and usually went by Glenn Miller. He supposedly married a Geraldine. I have no idea when or where this Glenn was born, died or married. His parents married in 1915 in NY, he has a sister Beulah born in NY in 1916. I suspect the son Glenn was born sometime between 1915 and 1925 when his father died.

In my 1989 book, The Borders Families, I have a pretty good rundown on his descendants. His parentage at that time was not clearly established. Recently I found one of his male descenants who would provide the identification of his male Y-chromosome. The result was that this male family line was proven: Matthias Bader 1707 GER, Michael Bader/Borders 1751 GER, Michael Borders 1781 TN, Henderson Borders 1820 NC, Elzie C Borders 1857 NC, Wiliam M Borders 1890 NC, & Henderson F Borders 1921 NC. Michael Borders 1751 GER was also my ancestor, and he died in 1807 Jackson County GA.

Edward Lee Borders 1930 IL was the son of James Franklin "Frank" Borders 1897 IL & Edith Keeling 1903 IL. His line runs back to James L Borders 1852 OH, to George Borders 1805 OH, to Nicholas Borders 1766 PA, & to Nicholas Border 1733 (GER?), the latter moved from Bedford Co PA to Loudoun Co VA, where like many Pennsylvania Germans his name was altered from German names such as Bader/Badder/Bodder to Border/Borders. He returned to Bedford Co PA and lived & died as a Border. Many of his descendants, as my line did, kept the name Borders. See 1930 Saline Co IL census for the families of James L Borders age 78, Frank J (James Franklin) Borders age 32, and Charlie M Borders age 24. I was in Korea too & flew F-86's against the MIGs from Suwon Air Base.

Living male descendant of Joseph D Borders 1850 KY does not have a male Y-chromosome that matches those of record-proven male descendants of Peter Borders 1756 PA, even though some records seem to indicate that Joseph could be a descendant also.
Re: Joseph D Borders of Allen County, KY

My best guess was that John Borders 1805 SC & his wife Rachel 1806 TN were the parents of Joseph D Borders 1850 KY, and thus they belonged to the family of Peter Borders 1756 PA. Our Borders Y-DNA-12 Test Group knew the 12 numbers that identify the male Y-chromosome of Peter's male descendants, so we needed a male dewscendant of John D Borders to prove the relationship. Unfortunately, the descendant we found proved otherwise. Of his 12 numbers only 2 matched those of Peter, 7 were off by 1 number, 2 were off by 2 numbers, and 1 was off by 3 numbers. Any relationship would have been much closer to that of "Adam"
than to that of 1756 Peter.

Michael Borders 1781 Greene Co TN is a descendant of Matthias Bader 1707 Jettenburg Germany. It has been so proven by the male chromosome of a NC descendant. His father was my ancestor Michael Bader/Borders 1751 GER-1807 Jackson Co GA & his wife Mary Hopton 175X VA. Their other sons were Isaac Borders 1776 TN, John Borders 1779 TN,& my ancestor Stephen Borders 1784 TN.
POW/MIA Korean War BORDERS

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Saline County, Illinois as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: EDWARD LEE BORDERS
Born: 1930 Caucasian
Date of loss: Feb 13, 1951 POW

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The **** family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (78 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Thanks very much for your kind reply. I think the Borders you mentioned may well be connected to the Borders in my allied family.

The William Franklin Borders I mentioned was born Jan 1865 in Williamson Co., Tex.; he is the first known child of John Borders (b. 1847 in Pike Co, Ga.) & wife, Rachel Louisa Smith. Other children of this union were:
Sarah Ann Borders 6 May 1866 Williamson Co, Tex
John Monroe Borders 1869 Williamson Co, Tex
Nancy Borders abt 1871 Williamson Co, Tex
Lena Arminta Border Feb 1874 Williamson Co, Tex
Charles Borders Jan 1876 Burnet Co, Tex
Lew Borders (female) abt 1878 Burnet Co, Tex
Fannie Delzia Borders 29 Dec 1884 Runnels Co, Tex.

The William Franklin Borders whose descendants I seek was married 20 Sep 1890 in Runnels Co, Tex to Rachel Kerby (daughter of James K. and Martha Kerby). This W.F. Borders and family remained in Runnels Co, Tex. at least until Rachel's death in Feb 1905 and his second marriage to Madie Powell (in Runels Co, Tex) in 1906.

Given the descendancy you mentioned born 1876 Ga. and 1897 Ga., I have to wonder if those Borders are a collateral line to the ones I'm seeking. It's certainly possible there were two William Franklin Borders born in Texas in 1865.

Your offer to send me the charts you have is very gracious and I appreciate it. However, I would hesitate to put you to the trouble unless we can determine a definite connection.

I look forward to hearing from you again. If you would prefer to contact me directly via email, please send it to Penny "at" povertyhill.us

Thanks again!
Penny

On p. 149 of your book, you show Marvin L. as son of James Washington Borders and Elizabeth R. Lane. Is there an update of information here, or do we have 2 families confused?

Billy, I would love to look at a copy of your chart. We are supposed to have a Borders in Ky or Tn connection about 1845. I have so far been unable to find anything. Thank you. Marie in Seattle

Miss / Mrs. Tommie Borders, Llano Co, Tx.

I am still looking for info on a Miss or Mrs.Tommie Borders , listed in the Llano Co. history book entitled "Gem of the Hill Country" as being a school teacher in the area of Llano County known as Moore's Chapel for school term of 1901-1902. Would like to learn anything about her , her family or friends while in Llano County , as well as what became of her. Would also like to know who the students were in her class that term. I have a photo of her , she was a very beautiful lady and apparently played the guitar as she is holding one in the photo.

Does anyone recall her or what became of her?
