Hello Albert,
Well, interesting about your Borer line. We may tie in somehow. My maiden name is Borer. My grgr grandfather is Remegius Borer b. 30 Oct 1833, his brother Henry Borer b. 28 Oct 1828, sister Rosa Borer b. 7 Aug 1837 and bro Urs Joseph Borer b. 14 May 1831. So far. Parents were Johan Borer b. abt 1797 Grindel and mother Anna Maria Sauer/Saner b. abt 1797 Kleinlutzel.
Also, my Remigius named a son Albert, as did his son, as did my father. (I have a brother Albert Borer/Bohrer).
Interesting what you said about Black Boys Country because my grgrhrandfather, whom I have a photo has very dark features. Not that it means for sure, but your story makes some sense. How could I find a birth record for my Henry and Remi? I don't know where to write, or if you know anyone who can obtain one for me that i can pay?

name fits but not location. I grew up in the country so my guess is that the deer legs could have been used as part of a decoy stand, maybe makeshift a body to lead on etc.

Ditto on all you said. My Henry had no known ties to Canada. He was born in Switzerland in 1828. If the knife is earlier than 1878 which is when he passed..no chance. He was a carpenter /painter. His son was John Henry Borer. Also my Borer, Bohrer stayed in OHIO. Mine all tie to Switzerland, Germany, OHIO.

Do you know if you are related to a Henry Borer who was born in England and lived in Canada?

I found a very old handmade butcher's knife in a house I was cleaning out the other day in Guelph, Ontario and it has the name "HENRY BORER" stamped into the side of the blade. I'm looking for any information on whose it might have been and the only Henry Borer I have located close to where I live is a Sgt. Harry Henry Borer who fought in WWI in the 58th Canadian Regiment. He apparently enlisted in Toronto, Ontario.

Here is the webpage with the info I've found on him... http://canadiangreatwarproject.com/searches/soldierDetail.as...

I found it with some random hunting things - a fox pelt, and 4 stuffed deer legs (no deer, just the legs so I have no idea what that would be for)

Do you know if your Henry fought in WWI? Did he ever live in Canada? What country was he born in? I'm looking for information right now... If I find anything solid linking this knife to you then I'll let you know. I could also send you pictures of it if you wish?

Until I find some more info, I think I'm going to keep it because it's very cool and I collect blades so this would be right at home in my collection until I'm sure of who this belongs to.

I need help badly. About 8 years ago Mercer Co Gen Society published their newsletter in it stating that my GRGRGRandfather served in the militia of Civil Way. I do believe that to be true and they posted his name. However..there was never any other reference given and later..the record was "not found" so...I desperately need someone who has skills in the Civil war rostering area...to see if they CAN find him..His name is Remigus Bohrer/Borer. He lived in the MERCER County at the time, around Granville. Also on the liste was his brother in law, William Leifeld. Anyone????

Hello-I have a photo of a man named Frank Borer. He is in a photo with his wife Emma and three children. He looks SOOO much like my grgrgrandfather Remegius Borer, they could pass as twins. I am almost certain that they are brothers as well, because the photo was passed on to me, from a group that contained a photo that is 100% Remi's brother Henry and his wife Sabina Borer. So..I now believe this Frank Borer IS in fact a brother to Henry and Remigius Borer. I need help proving this though. Does anyone know of this Frank Borer and wife Emma? Photo taken likely between 1850-1890

Hello,
I am a Borer from Albert Borer, son of sen. Albert Borer Kleinluetzel. My birth certificate 2 years ago though came from the "Zivilstandsamt" in Olten. That is the place where all papers are now. Indeed it is called the "black-boys-country" because ages ago a tribe or group of people came to settle at the french border. They say that they came from Marocco over to Spain and from there to France because of the inquisition in Spain. After they had settled down there, the following generations were quite dark tanned at the other side of the border and not looking swiss. Indeed the name is written Borer, not Bohrer.

Good luck!
Re: Jerry Borer

Good Afternoon Susan!

This is probably one of the most random emails I've ever written but I believe we may be related! I was searching google for some information on my cousin Jeffrey Borer and found a link to Ancestry.co.uk where you posted a message looking for Jerry Borer.

This may get confusing but I'll try to explain the best I can!

My dad is Steve Frank, who is the son of Roz Adler & David Frank. My Grandmother Roz was Viola (Adler) Borer's sister and they all lived in Cincinnati, OH. My dad Steve and Jeffrey Borer are first cousins. I believe Jerry Borer was the owner of a successful business in Cincinnati called King Tire where my grandfather and other siblings worked.

Roz and Viola were 2 of several children of Minnnie Waxman and Louis Adler. As far as I know, there were 4 or 5 children - Roz, Viola, Mervin, Suds and one more whose name is escaping me. I believe it was another sister who married a Drazen from Binghamton, NY.

Is there any specific information I can help you with?

I am 31 years old and currently living in Chicago. My dad is an only child and both of his parents are deceased. The family tree on that side is much bigger than my moms side and somewhat confusing but I can always call and ask him for any information you may be looking for.

I hope this finds you doing well and look forward to hearing back from you!!

Regards,
Emily Frank

I have made some headway on this family line:

I made a contact with a Samuel Graber (d. 1859, lived in Wayne & Holmes Co., OH) descendent who copied for me a page in his lengthy Will that shows the spellings of the Bohyer children. Some had Bohrer and some Bohyer surname spelling in Will.

John's wife's name was Mary Elizabeth Graber ; she went by Elizabeth. After John died she married John HALEY in 1882. Her children were (as listed in the Will): Adaline "Adele" Houtzer, Samuel Bohrer, Caroline Hochstetler, Mary Armstrong, Phillip Bohrer, Rosalie Wagers?, David Bohrer, Alex Bohrer and John C. Bohrer. Selestine Conrad, Elizabeth Houtzer.

I have a doc. with Samuel signing his surname Bohyer, I have an obit for Jacob (who moved to Bloomington, IL) showing he changed his surname to Bohyer, when Elizabeth signed documents regarding her father's trust left to her, her surname is spelled Borer, Adalines surname was spelling Boher in Allen Co. marriage book.

The Houtzer family info is at :http://www.geocities.com/houtzer_2000/

Hi Sarah

You may have already found all the info you wanted, but I have a Jabez Borer (b 1832) from the Sussex / Croydon area in my family tree (my great-great-grandfather). He married Anne (surname unknown). They had a child George who went on to marry Henrietta Nye.

Please contact me at aliciaogrady@yahoo.co.uk if you would like more detail.
