You haven't provided much information to guide a search; however, there was an Edwin F. Boring, born about 1876 in Georgia, who was enumerated in the 1930 census of Demorest, Habersham County, Georgia. This man is probably too old to ahve been your grandfather, but he may well be a direct ancestor. He had only one son, Samuel F. Boring, born about 1915. Do you have any additional information, such as your grandfather's birth year?

He adopted Effie Bell and Charles Monroe Stombach. Effie (Grandmother) Married Arthur Edward Raver and had Ruth, Margaret,Walter and Paul as well as Ethel and Addie both who died in childhood. Winfield S. Boring was named after General Winfield Scott. He did have a shoe repair shop on Main Street in Groveport (picture of this and others).

I haven't been into the genealogy for awhile. Because Scott Boring and my father & mother all live with Effie Bell and Arthur Raver in Groveport I know more of that side of the family. I t seems we would be cousins of sorts because your ancestory stems from Franklin P. Boring and mine from Winfield Scott Boring his brother. Of a note also is that Arthur E. Raver, named after our grandfather Arthur E. Raver passed away in 2005. Paul S. Raver passed away but his wife, my mother lives with me in Indiana.

At one time he had a shoe/harness repair shop by the Higgin's house on Main St. then later behind the Raver house at 169 college St. The other adopted child Charles M.
I am the G. Grandaughter of Winfield Scott Boring. I have no idea of the accurate circumstances of Effie B. and Charles M. Stombach's adoption other than W."Scott" Boring went to an orphhanage and saw Effie and how cute she was and adopted her and Charles. If true don't know why he went to the orphanage in the first place. Glad he did. They both were wonderful people.

My father was the youngest of the 6 children of Effie Bell And Arthur E. Raver. Arthur owned the grocery store across from the Methodist Church on Main and College St's. Scott Boring was my G.Grandfather who was the adopting father of Effie. He reared both she and her brother Charles. So the lineage would go from me to Paul S. Raver to Effie to Scott Boring. I now live in Indiana but my entire growing years in Groveport, graduating from Groveport High in '61. My sister lives in Ohio just a few miles from Groveport. When we visit we always go around the town and do the memory things. We lived 2 houses away from Blacklic St. where th old Inter-urban (3-C's) Railroad line was.

This is so neat...Scott Boring stayed with our family and passed away in the house at 169 College St. The alley in the back of the house is now "Raver Alley",(Not bad for the blacksheep of the Raver's)grin. My mother Adelaide P. Raver(now Hoppes)took care of him during his last days. He was crippled from an early age. I have heard several stories how this occurred. At any rate he use to propel himself around the house on a dining room chair on a platform with casters on the bottom and chewed Red Horse Tobacco. He had a wonderful nature always singing as he came out in the morning.

I am really wanting to know if anyone knows anything about my father or his relatives--I don't necessarily want to know him, I just want to know who my relatives are.

My father: Hai Tan Boring (possibly 38 years old)
his father: POSSIBLY William L Boring
POSSIBLE RELATIVES OF HIM: Dangoc BORING, Xuan Boring
his mother: My mother said they called her "Kim" but didn't know her real name--she's from Vietnam-we think

I need to get in on this because Winfield and Franklin were my Great Uncles. They were brothers to Clinton Elmer Winslow Boring, my Great Grandfather. I believe Olivia is a sister to all three. My Grandmother was Roberta Boring from Hebron, Ohio. I've been to alltheir graves in the past year and know where all of them are buried, one thing I don't understand is Winfield's wife is buried in Lockbourne and Winfield is buried in Carroll Cemetery in Carroll, Ohio.

I knew Carl Boring quite well as he used to come to Hebron to visit his sister Roberta known to all as Bert. I have started going to the reunion the past 3 years to recapture my relatives. Carl Boring's wife Vera just passed away about 2 months ago at the age of 82.

Just last weekend I went to the museum in Groveport to find where Winfields business was located and low and behold it was right across the street. Are you familiar with the book (Images of America)go to google and punch in Images of America, Groveport,Ohio,Madison township and there is a picture of Winfield's store in there.

Later

Tom Hanna
Just Another Cousin

That is great. We must be some kind of cousins. Ida Raver told me that my grandmother (Olivia) had a happy house with lots of music. My father liked to sing and had many favorite songs. And my children tell me that I sing when I am happy. It must run in the family (joke).Do you still live in Groveport? Are the Borings related to the Shoemakers? I am related to both but I don`t know about others. My grandmother (Olivia) raised Franklin Pierce Boring after his mother died when he was 3 years old. Ida Raver called her Aunt Livie.I have pictures of Grandmothers' brothers and sisters. Would these be of interest to you or do you already have them? Your name is not familiar to me, what part of the family are you?

I have some Boring family information and pictures that I will share if you tell me what you are interested in. My grandmother, Olivia Boring was Uncle Scott`s sister. I went to Groveport to look up family there. As you may know, my grgrgrandfather, Abraham Shoemaker, was the first mayor of Groveport in the 1840`s. There is a two-story brick house that is still lived in built by that Shoemaker on Shoemaker Alley, near the middle of town. Let me know who you are. I like finding family.
Christina - This s a Little confusing as there are two William Frederick Borings (Father and Son). First, I assume that you are talking about William Frederick Boring b. abt 1881 married to Minnie O'Dell Welch. He had a brother named James Franklin Boring b. 2/2/1882. James Franklin Boring died 4/2/1964 in Masontown, W.V.

The Second William Frederick Boring (The aboves son) is AKA James William Frederick Boring b. 5/19/1907. The only brother that he had that I am aware of was Harry Edward.

I have never heard the alias "Alfred James Boring" referring to either of them. You can contact me direct at biloxitj@yahoo.com for more info.

I am going out on a limb here, but I "believe" that I have seen this picture before and it is James Franklin . . .
