Thanks for the post on Dovie. My husband is a descendant of Leonadis Joseph Born, her brother. We had found conflicting information saying Dovie was his daughter and another source saying she was his sister. The dates you posted for her were able to clear up this matter, since it's highly unlikely a 9 year old boy would have been her father.
About the plantation, according to the 1850 Gwinnett County federal census Daniel Delaney Born was a farmer with land valued at $100. His father Samuel C. Born was also a farmer with land valued at $200. Since most of the neighbors land values were far more significant than these figures, and neither household had any workers other than the family, I think we're looking for the location of a small family farm, not a plantation.
Hope this is helpful.
Also, do you have any information on when Samuel came from South Carolina to Georgia. I found two listings for a Boring, one listed as Mr, the other as Joseph, in very early records but no Borns. Later when you can find the Borns, the Borings are gone so I'm wondering if it is a corruption of the name.
One more item...have you found any connection to the Delanie/Delaney family? I wondered if there is a connection. Daniel's middle name is Delanie and his son Joseph Leonadis Born married Harriet Delanie Moore. Any information you have would be helpful.
Let me know if I can be more assistance.
