Old Born Tin-Type Photos from Rockdale County, Georgia

I have come into possession of some old tin-type photos taken in Rockdale County, Georgia. The old photo album has the name "B.J. Born, Sheffield, GA" on the front page. However, one of the photos, a boy, has the name “W.T. Aycock” signed on a piece of paper behind it. I know the Born, Lucas, and Aycock families were very close (there were several marriages among them.). In fact, many of them from the period are buried at what is called the Born/Lucas/Aycock cemetery in Rockdale. I'd appreciate any help you can provide in identifying these photos. I'll be happy to share them with any interested parties. Email me at r.aycock@comcast.net. Thank you!

Born/Sanders in Missouri

I am trying to find information on my Great Grandparents. I have recently found out that my great grandmothers maiden name was Born and she married a man with the last name of Sanders. My grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth Sanders, was born in 1904 in California, Missouri. That's the extent of my knowledge on my dad's side and now, unfortuneatly, everyone is long since dead. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

BORN back to 1600's in Moravia and Bern, Switzerland

So far as research allowed the Born name goes back to the 1600's. In Moravia, an other Austrian Countries, in these early times, there were many families that had emigrated there from Bern, Switzerland. There fore as early as the year 1600 A.D. the Berne district o Switzerland was the home of the well know, now Lancaster County and easter Pennsylvania families. Some years later these people were so religiously persecuted by the Swiss, that they were forced to leave Switzerland. They went to Morevia in Austria in 1617, ect....still percuted some fled to America... This Born i can tell you of: Samuel Frederick Born , born on Dec 16 1940, died Nov 13, 1911.
Wife:Mary Arminda Melissa Fraker.. Children: Anna Elizabeth (Lib),Jaunita Isobel (jennie), Mary Catherine (Kate), Harry, Alice Estelle, Forence Edn (Flo), James Leroy (jim),Carl. They also raised Nellie Dehaven, the daughter of Alice and William Dehavan.... This is all the hard work of my great aunt and her sister.. Greatest Thanks...

Albuquerque Journal - December 5, 2003

Robert Born, 77, lost his courageous battle against mantle cell lymphoma on November 23, 2003. He was born in Woodland, MI. A Veteran, he proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Employed in the construction industry, he worked in many states and Egypt. Bob never met a stranger, and he always had a story or comment to offer everyone. He was a decent, honest, caring man who lived by his word. He always called himself just a poor old country boy. He loved his wife, family, golf and Detroit Red Wings hockey. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Barbara; one brother, Phil and wife, Joyce of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Carolyn Brechiesen and Frances Reuther of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria; and parents, Robert and Vesta Born. The family thanks, for their outstanding and gentle care, Dr. Douglas Clark, the entire staff of NM Oncology Hematology Consultants, and the staff of 5B at Presbyterian Hospital. There will be a Prayer vigil on Friday, January 16, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the NM Cancer Center Foundation at NM Oncology Hematology, 4901 Lang Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
"Laurel Born Dead" newspaper article

From an unknown newspaper (probably The Morland Monitor, Morland, Kansas), Volume IX, Number 33:
"Laurel Born Dead
Last Tuesday, Armistice Day, Laurel Born played in the Foot Ball game between Morland and Quinter.. It so happened that he had been having boils and had at that time, showing that his blood was disordered. Laurel, not thinking of the serious results played and his right shoulder was injured during the game. Not however until Wednesday evening did he realize that his condition was bad enough to need a doctors' care. Dr. Logsdon was called and later an Xray picture taken by Dr. Riester. The shoulder was reported out of place but as he did not seem better after the shoulder was cared for Dr. Logsdon took a blood test which showed pus. Four other doctors were called but nothing could be done to save him and he passed away on Monday morning.
The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
We hope to be able to print an obituary next week."

They had two children, Ralph and Alfred.

The problem I seem to be running into was that Ralph (Sr.) was an orphan, apparently at some Lutheran orphanage (where all the records are in German), and not only that, as the story goes, his father was an orphan, too. Anything anyone knows regarding anybody I've mentioned would be greatly appreciated!

Lang
flatmop@yahoo.com

I am searching for the ancestors of Ann Born, who was born in 1592 in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales. She married Richard Bowen, also of Swansea, and they went to America, Settling in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Ann died in Rehoboth in November of 1648, and Richard died there February 4, 1674. They had two daughters, that I know of: Sarah, born in 1616, and Alice or Elinor, born bewteen 1616 and 1622.
Hi there,
I have not gone very far with research on the origins of my family. What I know is that our family were Hugenots (protestants) in France and they had to leave the land because of their religion in the 17th century.
My grandma said that they lived in the South French town of Arles.

Does anybody have the same trace?

A sister of my grandma emigrated to the USA in the 1920 (her name was Karola / Carol; married to Hans / John).

Hello distant cousins: My grandmother was Louisa (BORN) Ruh, b 1863 in Phila Pa.
where she lived most of her life. Louisa's mother was Maria (Heinz) BORN. Maria was
born in Germany in 1841, and migrated to Phila, Pa. in 1854. Louisa's father was John
Henry BORN, who was born in Germany about 1837, migrated to Phila. Pa. and became a
citizen there in 1854.

John and Maria BORN had 4 children, Louisa, (mentioned above) , John b1864,
Amelia, b1866, and Charles b1868. Amelia and Charles did not live long, however John
BORN (b1864) married Louise (Weber) BORN and had a family of 12 children in Phila..
John had a lifelong career in Phila as a policeman and in this later years worked out of the
police station at 4th and York Sts. in Phila.
Louise died in 1932, and John died in 1938.

Most of the children of John and Louise were males, so I am searching the BORN
surname to find any otf them or their children.

The last known owners of the cemetery lot where John and Louise are buried are
Edward S. BORN of Franklinville NJ and Francis S. BORN of Clayton NJ. These 2
names and addresses were current in 1936.

If you have any knowledge of this family, I will be most appreciative if you will
post it on this mail list, or e-mail me directly. I will be pleased to respond with full
information on the marriage and family of Louisa BORN.

Best regards, distant cousin or uncle. .
I am searching for any info. about my relatives on my fathers side. He passed away in Jan of 2000, and tried to find his biological family with no success. He was born on from what he was told June 1, 1942, somewhere in NJ. He was given the name Wendell Charles Born, and adopted by Helen and Charles Born. What I thought was odd is on his death certifcate said he was born in 1944. 2 years is a big difference, but back then they had his records destroyed. If you have any ideas on how I would find any info. please let me know. Thanks in advance, Charlie
