Karl,
My multi year quest of tracing the Bornemans continues. I noted at the bottom of your post, a son named Ludwig born in 1873. My great grandfather was Lewis Borneman born about 1871-1873 (the date varies by record he left). Supposedly he was born in Indiana, but no records of him or family. His parent were born in Germany. Do you have more information on Ludwig to share. Family history is the second "n" was dropped by 1892. In advance thanks,

Jim Borneman
shellmarketer@yahoo.com

My grandmother was a Bornemann in North Orillia Township, or Muskoka. I know she had a brother named Julius Bornemann. I think she was born around 1886. If you have any information I would greatly appreciate your help in learning more about my ancestry. I'm wondering if this Karl Bornemann may have been my great, great grandfather.

Darla

Hello;

After digging a little I found the following in the 1930 Census. They were living in the same house in College Point

Henry Bornemann b. abt 1871 married to
Bertha M. Konzet b. 1872.
Their children were Edward, b. 1896, William H b. 1901 and Adele S. b. 1903.

Also, Edward Bornemann b. 1896,  m. to Marjorie (?)  had children Edward, b. 1915, Marion, b. 1920, Adele, b. 1920 and Herbert b. 1925.

It's a little confusing with two women in the same branch named Adele, isn't it? Who is whom to each of you?

My grandmother was Adele Bornemann (nee Hildenbrand) when she married Edward Bornemann of College Point. Their children were Edward, Adele "Tootsie" Clough, Marian Cox, and Herbert (my father). My grandmother remarried a Herman Billings who had grown children of his own. I don't know their names. It may be coincidental that your mother and my grandmother had the same names, but I could find out more family information if you have an interest.

MY great grandfather was named Louis Bornemann and died around age 65 or so in 1918. He was a German-born (?) tobacco importer who grew up, I think, in Philadephia and worked in New York. He lived in East Orange, New Jersey. I don't know anything about his parents or ancestores. Possbily the same man? The dates would work out, if not the location. Any futher information?

Bob;

This family had many branches so it is possible ours connect at some point. My line descends from Jacob Bornemann, b. 1775, Fleeste. His wife was Anna Boeschen, b. 1767, They had a son Claus who was born in Borgfeld (all of these places are in Hannover) and lived in Pading-buttel, near Dorum.

My direct line is through Regina Bornemann (Claus' daughter born 1826 in Pading-Buttel). Regina's brothers were : Eide, Henning Friedrich, Herman Hinrich, Johann Heinderich, Henning Eide, Eibe Heinrich and Ernst August. She also had a sister Margreta. Ernst was the one who had a confectioner/ice cream store in Manhattan.

I suppose it is entirely possible that somewhere further back in the line your branch and mine are connected. How far back have you been able to trace?

maggie

My Grandfather, Carl Friedrick Bornemann, came to the US from Muenden, Hannover, Germany in 1851. He was thirteen years old. His parents, Ludwig and Suzanne Bornemann came to the US later with his sister Augusta and brother, Ludwig. They lived in the area of 26th St and Broadway in NYC and I believe part of thei family had an ice cream parlor somewhere on Broadway probably in the area of 26th St. also.
He may have had an uncle named Friedrick but I'm not sure.

Any of these names familiar to you ?

Bob Bornemann
