Hello, I am reading the Borras board with great interest. My family name is Burros. We are Jewish and emigrated from the Russian Empire in the late 1800s, early 1900s. The family was in Spain prior to that, expelled in the late 1400s. I have some revision lists (census records from Europe), ship manifests, and many U.S. documents where the spelling is closer to Borras. There is reason to believe, that yes, perhaps our ancestors were indeed Spanish Jews, Sephardic. Although the spelling is slightly different, I am inclined to think this might be true.
