From "History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 861.

Town of Greenfield

GREGORY BOSCHERT, farmer, Sec. 22; P. O.
My name is Tracy Boschert. I am the daughter of Mark E. Boschert in St. Charles, MO. My grandparents were Raymond John Boschert and Cleo Mae(Heck) Boschert. My grandfather was born in 1917 and died in 1993. If anyone has any clues or information for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I can be contacted at puddin_pops27@yahoo.com Thank you!

Mari
There is a book in the St Charles County Genealogical Society on the Boscherts, and this is where it is listed that Catherine's maiden name was Gaffney. It is also on the internet, so I am guessing that the source was the same book I mentioned. No documentation was provided. There is a letter in the files from a Randall Hull (your family, I asume?), that said her name was Carmody.
I would love to exchange info with you. I can give you info on Viola's line, and some on others. Of course, I am still trying to find Catherine's burial site. Linda

Francis (Frank) Joseph Boschert b. 09 May 1866 in St. Charles Missouri was my 2nd great grandfather. I have always known his wife's name to be Cathern Elizabeth Carmady and I am very curious about the name Catherine Gaffney because I have seen it many times before. Their daughter Roberta was my great grandmother.

Dear Debbie, My Grandfather was Lee Mark Boschert born 1880 in Carrolton, Missouri. His father was Frank Daniel Boschert born 1852 in St. Chareles. Frank had children in addition to Lee named Wallace, Cora, Authur, Lillian, Sam and Lolly. Maybe Frank was the brother of Thomas. I wonder if Anton was his father. Do you have a list of siblings?

Martin Boschert's parents

Debbi,
I came across some new info when I was re-organizing my files and notes. Celia had a younger sister who also married a Boschert. Here is their info. Franz Anton Boschert(b. 24 NOV 1851 d. 29 DEC 1925 Onsbach, Baden, Germany) married (25 JUN 1877) to Franziska Gerwitz(b. 28 FEB 1843 d. 19 JUN 1911 Onsbach, Baden, Germany). They had one child: Maria Barbara Boschert(b. 13 MAY 1878 d. 16 DEC 1917 Onsbach, Baden, Germany). She had thirteen children. The reason I think that there may be a link, is the fact that both sisters married a man by the last name of Boschert. If you are looking for the parents of Martin Boschert, perhaps they are the parents of Franz Anton Boschert as well. I have a contact in Germany. I will email him and see if he knows who Franz Anton Boschert's parents were. If not, he may be willing to do a lookup for you. Hope this helps. P.S. Onsbach is a small town in the province of Baden, near the French border in the Black Forest.
Ellen Gerwitz (compass@eznet.net)

Cecelia Gerwitz

Debbi,
My Cecelia was born in Onsbach, Baden, Germany on 26 NOV 1826. Her older brother
(by 2 years, emigrated before 1848, as that is when is oldest child was born in Erie Co, NY. Family history says she married and moved to Illinois. I have a death date listed for Cecelia as 1850, but that is very likely to be wrong. You see, many of these records came from family oral history and you know how confused and unreliable that can be. It seems that most of the male descendants records are accurate, but the female ones are not. Especially the ones who moved away. So, it is likely that the death date is wrong. Maybe it is the marriage date. You know of course that they were married before 1854. I believe that her older brother emigrated first. I know that three other siblings besides Cecelia followed him here in later years. The last one came in 1864.
I am certain that this is the same person. I have undertaken a rather large search of the Gerwitzes worldwide, and during those years, there were only two large groups of them. One in Germany, and one in Poland. The one in Germany seemed to spawn the most emigrants to the USA. Cecelia is the only Gerwitz I have that fits your description. I have records back to 1747 for Cecelia's ancestors if you are interested.
I am most interested in the complete list of her children and husband's name. And any dates you might have. Please feel free to email me directly at compass@mindless.com This will make our communication much easier and more direct.
Ellen Gerwitz

But no marriage dates, and none of her children's. Could you be so kind as to forward them. As for your search for Martin's parents, Cecelia was born in Onsbach, Baden, Germany and moved to the area of West Valley, NY with her two brothers, Lorenz and Gerhard Gerwitz. She married in this area, I assume and then went to Illinois with her husband. Hope this info helps.

Ellen Gerwitz
compass@mindless.com

Looking for parents of Martin Boschert who came to US and settled in Alton, Madison Co, IL. Married Cecilia (maiden unsure - could be Conn, Gerbitz or Gerwitz). Martin and Cecilia had 8 children: Edward, Cecily, Martin Jr, Mariam, Rose, Cacilia, Therese, and Frank. Know for sure that only four of these children lived to adulthood, married and had children of their own: Edward (Mary Ann Burg), Martin Jr (Bridget Convery), Mariam (Gabriel White) and Rose (John Girth). Martin had a brother Bernhard who was in Alton for a while and then moved to St. Charles Co MO.
According to census records my Cecilia Gerwitz Boschert was born about 1830 in Baden Germany. The location is right, but is the year. I'm hoping so, but then when did your Cecilia and her brothers come over. Martin and Cecilia's oldest son Edward was born 12 May 1854 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. Is this matching up with anything that could give reason to believe your Cecilia and my Cecilia are the same person? I believe that Martin came straight to Madison Co IL as there were other Boschert families living in St. Charles Co MO which is just across the river. Martin had a brother Bernhard who moved his family from Alton to St. Charles Co. Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks.

Debbi
