Tom,
I am searching for information on Glasers. I am looking for Franz Glaser who immigrated to America from Jetzles, Austria in the late 1890's. The name of his wife is unknown. One of his sons Charles, was a young boy when his parent came to America. According to verbal family history, Charles was between 8 and 10 years old at the time.
Supposedly the family went first to WI then headed to Nebraska. Oral history also states that Charles Glaser met and married Anna Bernt in Spalding, Nebraska.
One of Charles Glaser's sons was Louis Glaser. Louis married Alice Marie Davis of Spalding, NE. They had six children: Robert Louis, Eleanor Marie, Charles Vernon, Thomas Paul, James William, John.
Three of the sons, Thomas Paul, Charles Vernon, and James William (TomPall, Chuck and Jim) began to perform music in and around Spalding, NE. They were later "discovered" by Hillous Buttrun the lead guitarist for Marty Robbins. After performing with Marty Robbins for several years they moved to Nashville, TN and began to perform on their own as "Tompall and the Glaser Brothers." The group became well known and were honored multiple times by the CMA, Grammy Awards, Academy of County Music, etc. They were also named International Vocal Group of the Year by Billboard Magazine, etc. The awards were received both for their performances and their songwriting abilities.
Interestingly, while all their personal information has been fairly well documented, they have very little information on their family backgrounds. I am married to Louis Glaser (son of Charles Glaser). I am trying to help the family find any available information on their family history.
