Bose Family In Bremen

My Bose (Boese) family originates from the Bremen area in Germany. My grandfather, Louis Karl Bose, emigrated from Bremen to Durango, Mexico, in 1909 and, then, immigrated to San Antonio, Texas, at the start of the Mexican Revolution. I have received valuable information regarding my Bose family from Die Maus, a genealogical society in Bremen. Please email me at Susiesearcher@att.net if you want contact information for the society.

I am researching Stapels that came into Milwaukee in the 1860's, moved to Illinois, and then finally down into Kansas. My grandfathers great grandfather was August Stapel of Braunschweig Germany. I am sure he would have had brothers who came over as well, would like to find there descendants. Perhaps you have information ? Thank you for your time.

Sincerely
Malcomb Stapel

Hi,

I find you doing research on "Bose family from India" for nearly two decades. I am really impressed.

My name is Manas Kumar Bose. My grandmother used to tell us that we belong to Dasghara Bose family of Hooghly District of West Bengal. My great great grandfather migrated from Dasghara to a village Telua (also known as Telo) also in Hooghly District, West Bengal and my grandfather migrated to Kolkata early in 19th century. I am listing below the name of eight generations including me:
1. Manas Kumar Bose - Self
2. Haralal Bose - Father
3. Rakhal Chandra Bose - Grand Father
4. Trailokya Nath Bose - Great Grand Father
5. Prem Chand Bose - Great Great Grand Father
6. Ram Mohan Bose
7. Mukunda Ram Bose
8. Radha Ballabh Bose
I am inquisitive about my ancestors and to which lineage I belong.

Reply from your end will be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Manas Kumar Bose

Just read your message today, because I am working on extended branches of my family tree. Would your Henry Bose be a child of Charles Bose and if so do you know what Charles Bose' mother's name and date of birth is? I am looking for Adelheid Helmers born 30 Sep 1869. I found a bit of information on a tree that someone put out there that shows Adelheid Helmers as the wife of Charles Bose. Traced that to a Charles Bose on the census with a wife name Ella (could be a nickname for Adelheid). They had children Jessie, Henry, Mary E. and I believe Harold.

I just came across this discussion and found it pretty interesting, it would be great if I could figure out something about my ancestral history. I am from Gujarat. I believe my great grand father Amritlal Bose came and settled here. I don't know for sure which place in Bengal he belonged to. I will just provide you with some details so maybe you could place where my family orginated.
Debashish Harold Bose
Father: Harold Dennis Bose
Grandfather: Dennis (Manoranjan) Bose
Great Grandfather: Amritlal Bose
Great great Grandfather: Khetar Mohan Bose

Thanks,
Debashish

Hi, I note with interest, you are looking for any information about the Bose family from Hanover (Bremen)
My great Grandmother, Geshe (Jesse) Bose was born in 1845 in Benkel. Geshe moved to New Zealand as a young bride in 1870 with my Great Grandfather, Freiderick Wilhelm Sauer from Winkeldorf. The family Bose still live in Benkel and have visited us here in New Zealand. Our daughter Karyn, visited them about seven years ago. We keep in touch but the don't speak English, although the young ones in the family do. It would appear that you may be related to this family. My great uncle was also Johann Bose and we have a family history documented back to 1626. There is also a link with the "House Of Hanover" and we all know who they were. I hope this information is of interest and if you require any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.
Regards
Ivor Jones (My German grandmother married a Welshman)

Tom,
I am searching for information on Glasers. I am looking for Franz Glaser who immigrated to America from Jetzles, Austria in the late 1890's. The name of his wife is unknown. One of his sons Charles, was a young boy when his parent came to America. According to verbal family history, Charles was between 8 and 10 years old at the time.

Supposedly the family went first to WI then headed to Nebraska. Oral history also states that Charles Glaser met and married Anna Bernt in Spalding, Nebraska.

One of Charles Glaser's sons was Louis Glaser. Louis married Alice Marie Davis of Spalding, NE. They had six children: Robert Louis, Eleanor Marie, Charles Vernon, Thomas Paul, James William, John.

Three of the sons, Thomas Paul, Charles Vernon, and James William (TomPall, Chuck and Jim) began to perform music in and around Spalding, NE. They were later "discovered" by Hillous Buttrun the lead guitarist for Marty Robbins. After performing with Marty Robbins for several years they moved to Nashville, TN and began to perform on their own as "Tompall and the Glaser Brothers." The group became well known and were honored multiple times by the CMA, Grammy Awards, Academy of County Music, etc. They were also named International Vocal Group of the Year by Billboard Magazine, etc. The awards were received both for their performances and their songwriting abilities.

Interestingly, while all their personal information has been fairly well documented, they have very little information on their family backgrounds. I am married to Louis Glaser (son of Charles Glaser). I am trying to help the family find any available information on their family history.

If you think that you may be able to help us in this search, PLEASE contact me via the message boards OR at my personal address:
Candyce.Williams.Glaser@integrity.com

BOSE FAMILY, Marssel /Bremen, Germany

My great-grandfather, Johann Nicholas Bose (1806 - 1884) married Johanne Juliana Weinrich (ca 1820 - ca 1908). I am descended from their younger son, Louis Karl Bose, born in 1855 in Marssel, Germany, and his second wife, Johanne Caroline Wehmeyer, daughter of Wilhelm (1833 - 1900) and Emilie Hollmann (1840 - 1904) Wehmeyer . Louis and Hannie married February 1900 in Bremen. Louis owned a large store in Durango, Mexico, but he was forced to move to San Antonio, Texas, at the start of the Mexican Revolution. Johanne's diary 1909-10 has been published. I am interested in sharing research with possible descendents of this branch of the Bose/Boese family.

Dianne, to my knowledge, my Boses don't seem to have had a relationship to the Boses in Texas--but, who knows? My grandparents Bose, father, and aunt emigrated from Mexico to San Antonio in 1910; but the only relatives in Texas that my father ever mentioned were distant Hollmanns (my great-grandmother, Emilie Sophie Hollmann, married Wilhelm Wehmeyer; however, Emilie and Wilhelm never left Bremen) I'll contact you by email re. the tree. Unfortunately, I have no documentation re. my BOSES beyond my great-grandfather, Johann Nicholas Bose. However, I do have a rudimentary drawing of the Bose Family tree, our family treasure that traces our family goes back several more generations. They did scatter! Hopefully, we can connect your Henry to my BOSE line. Please send me your email address so that I can forward the tree to you.

My maternal grandmother's maiden name is Anna Marguareta Dorothea Bose (b.1885), last child of Henry Lutge Bose who came to the US in 1868. He was born February 21, 1842, in Germany and had been conscriped twice into the Prussian army (during his first tour he lost his fiancee, but later married her sister...my greatgrandmother). He followed two cousins to America, because he was "tired of fighting wars", but left much of his family (who was said to be of wealth...he was the third or fourth son down however). I do know that he bought a large farm in Otoe, Nebraska, built a large home for his family, donated property on which to build a Lutheran church and saw his children profit nicely. His only daughter, my mother's mother, was given extensive music lessons and later taught voice, violin and piano. He traveled out to California with her over long periods of time conducting business, but I haven't a clue as to its nature. In the mid -1930's, my grandmother was going to make a trip to Germany, but her husband advised against it due to the political changes beginning to take place. To my knowledge, after Henry Lutge Bose came to America, nobody ever revisited the Bose family descendents. I am the first to open this chapter.
Thank you for any information as one day I would love to visit and see the place of my ancestors. Dianne

Hi Sue! This is all so new and very exciting to me. I would love to see the family tree. I came upon a "Bose Castle"...very interesting. My email address is diannekinn@msn.com Are you part of the Texas Bose family? Are you in Germany? I have so much to learn. As a young adult I took a class and gathered some info from my parents who were alive at that time. Going back to it now, I have so many more questions. While I am curious about my great-grandpa Bose and his family, I am also amazed that his wife (maiden name...Scheinabusch) came over from Germany alone at 22, leaving her family so far away. Although she returned to visit her family in Germany three separate times, the last time staying for five years and my great-grandpa had to go retrieve her! -so the family stories go... Looking forward to hearing from you again. Dianne

Debashish,

I have an update and a correction. (I have no way of telling the accuracy of this, as it was so long ago and this is based on reports handed down in my family.)

Khetar Mohan would be of the Mahinagar lineage. He was the son of Prankrishna, son of Bhola Nath. Bhola Nath is a common ancestor of yours and mine, since I am descended from his other son Navakrishna.

Good luck with your investigation.

Hi Debashish,

I wasn't aware of the lineages either, but a relative of mine had the family tree as given him by his grandfather, and then I started googling about it.

I'm afraid I have no info on Khetar Mohan, because the chart I have concentrates on our lineage.

Good luck with your research. You could try asking around in your family, especially older people, and see if someone kept track.

My cousin recently gave me a family tree which goes back to the 10th or 11th century. It includes a Khsettra Mohan who I guess would have lived some time in the 1800s. According to that tree, he was the son of Prankrishna, son of Bhola Nath, son of Anandi Ram, son of Jagdish Chandra, son of Gajendra Nath, son of Parvati Charan, son of Kalidas (and so on for many generations).

If it's the same person (and of course in Bengali, Khetar Mohan = Kshetra Mohan), then this would be the Baganda lineage.

Hi, I'm Rupa Bose and though I currently live overseas, I'm from India. A cousin of mine recently sent me a very detailed family tree. It looks like the Boses split into three major lineages about 5-6 generations down from founder Dasarath Bose. (BTW: Bose, Basu, and Bosu are essentially the same name.) These were the Baganda, Mahinagar, and Bangoj lineages.

I believe I'm from the Baganda lineage. My family (i.e., my paternal lineage) moved to Lucknow about 200 years ago, in the time of my great-great grandfather.

Hi Sharasvati,
Thanks for your query. In the absence of any details of your father it is very difficult to trace out the lineage. There are numerous lineages of Bose here. I do have a lineage of the Bose family of India as it originated. However,it is impossible to trace the origins until and unless one know's the area from which one hails. For example ,I am a Bose of Mahinagar.Similarly,The Great Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose also hailed from Mahinagar,etc.etc.I suggest you try to find some more details from your father's side and then contact me.
Hi Pradip,

My name is Sharasvati Bose. I was born and raised in the United States, but my father is from Calcutta. I would like to know more about the lineage since I did not grow up with my father, I do not know much about this side of my family. i do know he was born in calcutta, has one brother and two sisters, i do not know any of their names. Do you have any information of the genealogy of the name in general or is that too complicated?

Thank you!
