I am looking for information on my ancestor Rudolph Bussard. I don't know who he was married to. I descend from his son Robert Rudolph Boshart (B circa 1759 Newberry District, SC D 12 Oct 1846 Marshall County, AL Revolutionary War regiment of Col. Baird). I don't know when or how the last name changed. If anyone could provide any information about either of them that would be great. Thank you.

Lindsay Brown

I have quite a bit on the Boshart family. If you e-mail me directly I can send you an outline descendant report, but it is too long to post here.
Robert Rudolph Boshart (abt. 1759-1846) said that he was a soldier in the S.C. Militia. He volunteered in 1781 under 1st Lt. Lewis Hogg in Capt. James Kelley's Co. under Col. Baird. He knew Gen. Greene and spent most of his enlistment at Bacons Ridge. He was not in any engagement while in service. He returned to his home in Newberry Dist. S.C.
Pension: R 1036. Pension rejected. No reason given.
According to "The Kennamer Family", Robert built the first mill dam across the Flint River, near Old Bell Factory. It was built of logs and brush. It is further claimed that he owned the Capehart farm in the bend of the Tennessee River, the finest farm in the valley, and sold it for one-half bushel of silver dollars, and then settled up the valley.
He and Sarah (1761-?) married about 1783 in SC and had 5 children that I know of: David (abt.1785-1868), Susannah (abt.1787-abt.1856), Sallie (aft.1790-abt.1815), Rebecca (1792-1821) and Little David (1794-1863).

I am looking for information on my ancestor Sarah, who was married to Robert Rudolph Boshart (B circa 1759 Newberry District, SC D 1846). I don't know anything about her except that her first name was Sarah. I descend from their son David L. or Little David Boshart. Any additional information on any of them would be helpful and appreciated.

Lindsay Brown

Boshart Family Name

My third gr-grandparents were Peter Witmore and Marigrieta Bushardt. Marigrieta Bushardt was born May 21, 1775, in the Mohawk Valley of New York. Her parents were Hendrik Bossert and Elisabeth Kitts. Marigrieta was baptised at the Dutch Reformed Church of Cagnauwaga in Fonda, Montgomery, New York on June 5 or 6, 1775. Her sister, whose name was Maragriet was born on October 1, 1772 and baptised at the same location. Maragriet, aka Ete, married Cornelius Wemple and they had several children with the same names of Peter and Marigrieta. The church often got them mixed up. The only way for me to distinguish these two women is that I know my great-great-grandfather was John E. who was born in 1802, and married Maria Wert. This information was from family records. Currently, I am looking for the burial sites of Peter and Marigrieta.

Do you have any information on the Revolutionary War service of Robert Rudolph Boshart of SC (abt. 1759 -1846)? I was told he enlisted in the SC Militia for 6 months in 1781; but served in no engagements and his pension was rejected. Have you seen any paperwork proving that he was in the Rev. War? I am trying to find something either "official" or printed in a book.

Your posting about the family Boshard. This is very close to Boshart, of which I have quite a bit of information. There are French Bosharts and German Bosharts. The German Bosharts came in 1735 to America on the English ship Mary from Rotterdam to Philadelphia, Penn. Heinrich Boshart (Possart) with female Anna and child Casper.
