Hi,

The Thomas Bosher in question above is in Hanover County. The info I have from the Hanover County Marriage register gives Sarah's name as Sarah Martin, age 30 and a widow in 1867. Her parents are given as William Wright and Franky(Frances?) Tucker.

Sarah Ann Lowry married Thomas Bosher of Cumberland County.

These Bosher families share a Common ancestor in Charles Bosher, Jr. ca. 1731-1806.

Michael Tyler

Boshers in VA

I have been looking into my Bosher line, and I think that it must somehow connect to Gideon Bosher and the other well-known Boshers of VA. I have a guess based on a user-submitted file from familysearch.org but no actual evidence as of now.

Here is where I'm stuck:

Thomas Bosher born abt 1816 in VA, married (1) Nancy ??? and (2) Sarah ??? (I think, based on census records)

In 1860, Thomas and Nancy Bosher are listed as having several children, a few who are ages 16, 14, and 10. But in 1850, the family disappears. If the children are that old, they should be roughly 6, 4, and newborn in 1850.

The (user-submitted) file on ancestry.com has Thomas as the son of William Bosher, son of Thomas Bosher, son of Gideon Bosher.

Has anyone who has been researching this family come across any information that could help me make the connection? Thanks in advance.

George M. Bruce is my third great grandfather. He is buried in the Tyreeanna Chuch graveyard in Campbell County, VA. His daughter, Emily Bruce, married Hezekiah Carey Falwell, my great-great gf. I believe he had a son named Richard who is buried beside HCF and Emily Bruce Falwell in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA. You should visit the Jerry Falwell Museum at Liberty University. It has information about George Bruce being in the stagecoach business with a partner named Extra Billy Smith, a governor of Virginia. I believe George M. Bruce's father, Richard, was the owner of a very significant amount of land in Albemarle County during Thomas Jefferson's life.

I agree with you that is the best idea.
Louise Watkins

Carol, I would very much like to make contact with you. My father (James Bosher) died last week and he was my last link with any information on the Boshers. His uncle was Sidney and I would very much like to exchange information with you as to that generation before it is all lost. I await your reply. Thank you for your time.
Louise

I now have the marriage and birth/death certificates for 'our' Boshers. Going back to 1849. I look forward to you replying to me as I want to ask about Sidney and any other family members that you knew. My father had no contact with many of his family. Georgina was the informant on her father's death certificate. I know nothing about Georgina? catherine.obrien@ntlworld.com
this is my friend's email until I can sort out mine.
Louise
Dear Catherine,
I am so sorry to hear about the death of James, for you he was family and the last link, for me he was a relative I never knew even if indirectly.
A message was sent to the e-mail address you gave me with my address on,could you let me have yours to send copies of the photographs I have , albeit they are back possibly WW1.
I am a bit unhappy about putting to much information about myself on-line, I have found it is not always secure, even on this site.
Please keep in touch, I am sure that between us we can fathom out the family, and I am happy to go to the Berkshire records office and rummage for more details, ( my favourite hobby). It probaly won't be in the next few months as I want to fit in my elusive Hampshire relatives at the same time.
Despite everything I am glad that at least I have found a member of Sidneys family. I will tell him I have found you the next time I go to the cemetary! ( you will understand when you read the previous e-mail).
Again,I am very very sorry James had died, but memories of him will always be with you.
Carol

I have been to the Museum and I had emailed Jerry previously. He sent me a picture of Emily Bruce Falwell which I believe is an older picture of her in my GGmother's album. George M. Bruce had several more children and I have seen most of their graves. I also found Richard's grave near the Falwells grave and a clipping about his death. How do you know that George's father is Richard? I have been looking for that information for quite a while.

Are you in Lynchburg?
Bosher family in Bristol/Gloucestershire c1750-1790

My 3x gt grandfather Thomas Bosher was born in 1792 in Bristol. A wood turner by profession, he moved to Shoredtich London.

However, I now know that his parents were John Bosher (c1755), also a wood turner, and Hannah Gabriel. They married at St Michael's Bristol in Nov 1779 and had five children in addition to Thomas. These are:

John Bosher (c1780)
Mary Ann Bosher (1782)
William Bosher (1785)
Sally Bosher (1787)
Sarah Bosher (1791)

All the children were baptised at either St Philip & St Jacob, Bristol (Pip n Jay) or at St James. All, that is, except my 3x gt grandfather who had an adult christening in London in 1815...

Some of the other children may have migrated to London or other cities. Or they may have emigrated. If anyone has a Bosher on their tree who could be one of the above, I'd love to hear from you.
Grateful for any leads on George Bosher, son of Thomas Bosher and Mary Ann. He's present on the 1841 census, living Kings Head Court Shoreditch, but disappears after that.

Two of his brothers John and Samuel headed to Australia in the late 1840s, so I'm wondering if George emigrated too.

I'm a descendent of George's younger brother Charles Bosher.

Libby Norman

Elizabeth J. Bosher married Fabius Waller Hicks

In compiling my familytree info I have gleaned as much info on the central Virginia Bosher family as I could. Somewhere along the way I have picked-up that Elizabeth J. Bosher was wed to Fabius Hicks on June 23, 1853. This same source had her listed as the daughter of George Bosher and Mary Elliott with her birth given as @ 1825. The problem I have is that all the census info I can locate regarding Elizabeth Bosher Hicks gives her age consistantly pointing to a birthdate @ 1834. The detail to the problem is that her listed father, George Bosher, died @ 1825. Mary Elliott later married William F. Hilliard. Any help regarding the actual parents of Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.

I have been working on the Bosher family for a while and there are about three John Bosher men that could be the father of Martha.
One is John Charles Bosher, b. 1787 in Cumberland and died in 1859 in Richmond. He worked at Bosher's Carriage factory, but I do not have any details for him.
Another is John Bosher b. 1780 d.1832, a builder and whose wife died of injuried in the 1811 Richmond theater fire. I do not have any "second wife" info for him.
Do we know Martha's mother's name?

Thanks,
Michael Tyler

Trying to determine the father of Royal Thadeus Bosher.
