This message will be pretty lengthy - but here goes. Bernice is my first cousin. Uncle Carl came from Germany with his mother (my grandmother, Helene (Suhr) Timm, in 1906. He was about 2-3 years old. My grandfather, Herman Timm, came here in 1903. They both came through Ellis Island. They settled in Hastings-on-Hudson. They had 10 children. Carl, Herman (nickname Harry), Robert (my father), Walter, Edwin (nickname Buddy) Herbert, Helen, Elizabeth, Margaret and Elinor. Aunt Elinor is the only one still living. Harry died on June 4, 1912 at the age of 5 years old. His death certificate lists "hemorrhage of stomach" as cause of death. Grandpa was born on September 20, 1875 and Grandma July 24, 1882. He died on March 17, 1958 and she July 29, 1950. Each of their surviving children married and had children of their own, with the exception of Aunt Elinor and Uncle Herbie, neither one married. At some point I can give you the names of all of my cousins - your second cousins. I'm curious to know -- did you know that Bernice's brother, Ernie, lives upstate near Poughkeepsie? I believe Eddie lives in Florida. I don't remember very much about Bernice - we were never very close and when Uncle Carl died we hardly saw Aunt Anna or the kids. Do you have an e-mail address? If so, may I have it? There are other names, dates, info I can give to you, but right now, it's just too much information. I didn't know that Aunt Anna's family came from Czeckoslovakia. We always thought she was Polish. She and Uncle Carl lived on Lockwood Ave. in Yonkers. I believe the house is still there. Where do you live?? Can you tell me about Bernice - what her children's names are, who they married, what her husband's name is, etc.? This is pretty exciting for me to reach a distant relative. Hope we stay in touch.
