Who were William's parents? Somebody please help.

I recently broke through a brick wall and learned that William and Rachel were my Great-great-grandparents. They're all over District 5 of the Baltimore censuses from 1860 through 1920 yet I can't figure out who William's folks were.

They seem to live near Black Rock Road and Trenton Road as evidenced by the 1920 census. They're buried at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. If I'm correct, the Bosley Methodist Church is nearby as well.

My grandfather, William Raymond Harris, and his sister Rosa, live with them in the 1910 census so I know I have the right folks.

Send help ... I'm stumped ... again.

Reuben Bosley burial at Arvonia Cemetery

I am searching for family members of Reuben Bosley who is buried at Arvonia Cemtery, Osage Co., KS. Reuben had a son, Reuben and a daughter, Mary (who married a Cobb). Reuben was a Civil War veteran who served with the Co. E., 114th US Colored Infantry.

I am working on a book for the Osage Co., KS Historical Society that will cover the people who are buried at the Arvonia Cemetery, located near Arvonia, KS. I would like to include birth-death-burial dates, parents & siblings, cause of death and any interesting family information; such as where they came from, military history, family lore, occupations, etc. I will NOT be listing any birth dates of living individuals and any information used will be the type that is easily accessible by anyone.

I have a list of burials that is a compiled list from two different sources but it only covers up through the early 1990’s. I hope to complete this list to include all burials up until now.

If you would like to add any information to your ancestor/family member’s listing, please contact me directly at newtonmac@msn.com . Please type “Arvonia Cemetery” in the subject line so I don’t miss your email. With 800+ burials, I cannot list all the names here so I’m listing the surnames. If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to help. Keep in mind that most of the ladies are buried under their married names. If you’re not sure if your family member is buried in Arvonia, contact me and I’ll check for you.

Albert, Angles, Antrim, Atchison, Austin, Hart, Bailey, Barnett, Barr, Bebb, Behrendt, Benson, Blake, Bontz, Booth, Boring, Bosley, Botkin, Boyce, Briggs, Brower, Bugg, Campbell, Chambers, Clark, Clotfelter, Cosley, Cottrell, Cowden, Crabtree, Crippen, Davies, Davis, Decker, Dobson, Edison, Edwards, Elishan, Ellis, Evans, Felton, Ferguson, Frye, Funston, Gavin, Goodwin, Graham, Gray, Griffith, Griffiths, Hamman, Harris, Harvey, Hebbe, Henry, Herr/Haerr, Hilding, Hillis, Holmquist, Hooper, Hotchkiss, Hughes, Humphreys, Jenkins, Jennings, Jensen, Jeremy, Jernigan, Jessee, Jones, Kesler, King, Kirk, Knight, Larson, Leach, Lewis, Lloyd, Lowman, Maloney, Marker, Mays, Metzger, Miller, Mochamer, Monfort, Moore, Morgan, Morris, Moses, Near, Nesbitt, Newlee, Newman, Newton, Ormsby, Owens, Padgett, Parker, Parrey, Parry, Peterson, Pettay, Phillips, Pickens, Powell, Prentice, Price, Protheroe, Rees, Reynolds, Rich, Richards, Roberts, Robinson, Rouland, Rumph, Samuel, Sanderson, Schedel, Shepard, Shirley, Sloan, Small, Smith, Southworth, Spillman, Standiferd, Stephens, Sterrett, Still, Tankersley, Terril, Terrion, Thomas, Thompson, Trueblood, Umdenstock, Walker, Wallace, Ward, Watkins, Whaner, Whildin, White, Williams, Williamson, Wilson, Witherspoon, Woodin

Anita (Newton) McKinney
Colorado Springs, CO
Frances BOSLEY(?), 1693?-1758, Stafford County, VA

I just been told that Frances BOSLEY was the wife of William O'DANIEL, 1691?-1728?, of Stafford County, VA. The information is from HALBERT family tradition handed down in writing for about 5 generations. Frances' granddaughter, Elizabeth O'DANIEL, daughter of John O'DANIEL and Elizabeth MOXLEY, married Isaac HALBERT.

Does anyone have any information that may confirm BOSLEY, or another, surname for Frances? Any clues would be most appreciated.

Frances is my 5th great-great-grandmother, through descendants of her son, James O'DANIEL.

Bob Daniell
Thank you for your response. There were several Bosley families who settled in Grundy and Mercer counties, MO. I imagine they were all related in some way but don't know how. Even today, the many Bosley families who remain in this area do not know if or how they are realated. Grundy county, MO, is in the early process of compiling a history book on any family settling or living there in the past. I hope the Bosley family will be well respresented.

Bosley-Cox

Hi Dennis, I think we must be related. Gideon Bosley married Martha Flint who was the d/o Richard and Susanna Greenwood Flint. Martha was their only child. Richard died in 1817 and Susanna remarried in 1823 to John Cox and had five more children. I descend from the Cox line thru John and Susanna's second child, Oliver H.P. born 1826. I also know from NARA records on John Cox, that Susanna died at the home of her grandson, R. M. (Richard Milton?) Bosley in Spickard, MO. There are still many relatives in that area, tho they don't know if or how they are related.
I also have a sort of 'dilema' with another Bosley family.
A Gideon Perry Bosley mar Cordelia Cole, had three children and only one son married--Paris and he had three children. Finally, I think I figured it out but have no one to bounce it off of. I believe Gideon Perry was the son of Joseph Bosley, a brother to Gideon (Martha's). G.P.'s first marriage was to a Catherine Cole (found in the 1870 census for Grundy county, MO) by 1880 G.P. was married to Cordelia. I am sure this Cordelia is Nancy Cordelia Cole and she was a first cousin to Catherine. Cordelia's father was David and mother was Nancy. Catherine was the d/o of David's brother, Malzar. Have you any info on this?
I have several copies of probate records, photos of Bosley graves all around Grundy county and obit copies, along with books from Grundy county. My parents still live in Grundy County, I live in the middle of cold KS.
Rachel Bosley NC, TN

I noticed in the Bosley family tree there are 2 Rachel Bosley's. Can anyone give me information on the first Rachel Bosley born in 1792? John Bosley and Deliah Robertson being her parents. I have a Rachel Scales (unknown maiden name), in my family line. I noticed that the Bosley family married several Scales. The Rachel Scales I am researching was born abt. 1790 and was living in Rockingham Co. NC in 1850. She was head of the household in the census. Rachel Scales daughter Jennetta Scales, married John Fair and migrated to TN after 1850. They settled in Greene Co. TN. My Fair's are burried in the Mt. Carmel cemetery. Rachel Scales was said to be Cherokee. Does Cherokee run in the Bosley or Robertson families? Please help!
Leanna
gfx@brightok.net
Both died and are bur in MO.
In my collection of Bosley obits, I have one for G.P. Bosley. From a son of G.P. Bosley's obit, I find that G.P. Bosley also used the name of Perry and his wife's name was Cordelia Cole. Is this G.P. another Gideon? and who does he belong to? G.P. Bosley has grandchildren living in Grundy county, MO that do not know how they are related to Bosley's in the northern part of the county. Can anyone help me with this?
Much thanks

Who does G.P. (Gideon) Bosley belong to??

A Gideon Bosley was born to Abraham and Harriet Childers Bosley in 1848, their third child and prob in Clay county, IL. Harriet's parents may be William Childers and Sally Greenwood. I have a G.P. Bosley who the family says was called Gideon who was born in 1848 and died in Grundy county, MO in 1910. Is this Gideon/G.P. the same person born to Abraham and Harriet? This Abraham, I think, is a brother to Gideon, who married Martha Flint and died in Mercer county, MO.
Collected many cemetery photos and probates in grundy and mercer counties this past summer, but can't place this G.P.
Can anyone advise?

Forest Bosley - Weston area of West Virginia

My Grandmother, Aileen Fogg of Lost Creek WV was engaged to marry Forest Bosely in the last 20s. I have many pictures of him, along with some other men who did some farming in the Harrison Co/ Lewis Co area of West Virginia. They refered to themselves as The Fergeson Company (after their Massy-Fergeson tractors!!) There was also the term "Tractor Skinners" on the back of one of the photos. If there is anyone interested in a copy of the photo please let me know. Also if you have information about this man, I would like to include his details as part of my Grandmothers life history.

BOSLEY, William S., Freestone Co., Texas

I found William S. Bosley and his wife Sletia Jackson Bosley on the 1920 census for Freestone Co., Texas. He is listed as being 52 years old and she is listed as "Slatie" and was 40 years old. They had 6 children living with them: Alf - age 18, Ben - age 14, Bailey - age 11, Inez - age 9, a son (unreadable) - age 6, and a daughter (unreadable) - age 3. His mother, Sallie - age 82, was also living with them. I am looking for information regarding this family, in particular, Sletia Jackson and her parents and siblings. I have some info on William S. Bosley's ancestry, but am interested in finding more about his descendents. I am also trying to find if at some point after the 1920 census, they moved to Navarro Co., Texas.
Thank you for your help.
Mary

Eliza Bosley md. to Olvier Price

Eliza A (Bosley) Price is listed as an heir of her father, Greenberry Bosley. Her husband is given as Oliver Price. I know that in 1872 Eliza was in Putnam Co, Illinois and more specifically in 1880 she was in Cottage Hill, Putnam Co, Illinois. But I cannot find she and Oliver in the LDS 1880 index. So did she remarry? You may email me directly at RizerK@erinet.com

Does anyone have a John Bosley, b. circa 1850,
possibly from Ohio, and married to Kate Kern?
My g-grandfather was Samuel Kern Bosley
(b. 1874, d. 1912), son of John Bosley and
Kate Kern. Sam lived near Johnstown,
Pennsylvania, but I don't know if he was born
there. He married Mabel Grace Pickerill. His
father John Bosley is a big mystery. Oral
tradition suggests he had something to do with
traveling theaters in Ohio and may have been
married to an opera singer (?).
