On my great grandfather, William Boss, the 1901 British census lists him as born in Ireland. I can find nothing on him in Ireland. The church registry record for his 1874 wedding lists his father as John Boss. I found a John and Mary Boss on the 1841 census about the correct age to be his parents, both list they were born in Liverpool. They are listed in the West Derby Hundred, the same area that William and his wife Ellen lived in. It sure seems like they might fit but that nagging entry on the 1901 census for William, born in Dublin Irelanf. Is it possiblr / probable that it is incorrect?
