Hi Alice, I just now got your message. My internet was off for a day and a half. I do have a lot of Bossier family history. My mother is Donna Bossier Bebee. My grandfather was R.D.Bossier Jr. He was born in 1921 in Sabine Parish Converse La. His father and grandfather were also born at Sabine Parish. Before that his great grandfather Sylvestere Debrun Bossier born 1819, was born in Opelousas St. Landry Parish. This great grandfather died at Vickburg Miss serving the C.S.A. He is buried in Bossier cemetery in Sabine Parish close to Bossier Bayou.
My mother and grandfather also passed down this story about King Louis and our Bossier's being good friends in France. My mother's French teacher in highschool told her there were statues to some Bossier's in france. She wanted to take my mother to see.My mom wasn't allowed to go. I really wish I knew where in France these were. I am in touch with a Bossier in France. He interpurtes old French written Bossier papers for me. He dose not know of these statues. I will keep researching on that.
So how far back do you have on your side? If I can find a name I will know our connection. Jean Baptiste Dit Lebrun the first to come here from France in our family in 1718 I am told with Le Harpe the French explorer. He married a widow Marie Anne Chagneau, around 1726 or 1727,they had three son's Jean Baptiste (fils) Bossier (fils is french for Jr.) , Jean Pierre, and our line Francois Bossier (pronouced: Frans-wha). Almost always I can trace a Bossier back to one of these three.
Here is a great website a distant cousin of ours put together.
This is Jean Baptiste Bossier, one of nine born to Francois Bossier and Rosayle Charlotte Barre, he was my 8th great uncle.
He is confuised a lot with his nephew Gen. and U.S. Senator Pierre Evariste Jean Baptiste Bossier. My 7th double cousin. He was in the famous Bossier/ Gaiennie duel.

I also have a Bossier website at myfamily.com. It is private, and I can send you an invatation if you would like to join. I have a lot of family on there and quite a bit of Bossier history . I will invite you if you want e-mail me : colette95@msn.con...
