So I'm guessing here a little bit, but looking at the informationm I have and the Texas State Cemetery:

It looks possible that his wife must have died sometime in between 1876 (when his last child was born) and 1883 (when he immigrated to Tx). He had 5 children at the time he immigrated in 1883 which would have made them:

Cora - 15 (girl)
Charlie - 14 (boy)
Sue - 11 (girl)
Ada - 9 (girl)
Anna - 7 (girl)

I'm guessing he left all the girls in NC with a relative possibly which is why they only mention one know relative (charlie). I'll try and find the other kids and who he possibly left them with.
