Know that this is a very old post, but may have useful info on your "Amanda" Bostick. My info is actually for a person named "Elmira" Bostick, who married Hampton Tuten in Beaufort District SC in about 1848-1850. Elimra Bostick was a daughter of Littleberry Bostick, youngest son of Samuel Bostick and Ann Mary Maner. We believe Samuel Bostick to have been an elder brother of Richard Bostick, who was born 1758 in Onslow County NC and died near Robertville, SC in mid-1830's.
We have found no information on Littleberry's wife's name, but he appeared in four separate census records: 1830-1850 in St. Paul's Parish, Beaufort District; and 1860 in Talahassee FL. Whether Elmira had any siblings is unclear, as she was the only child that could be identified in the 1850 and 1860 census records living with Littleberry. Elmira appears to have had three daughters living with her and Littleberry in 1860.
From our research it seems clear that Elmira was a daughter of Littleberry Bostick, son of Samuel Bostick and Ann Mary Maner. Whether Littleberry had any other children is uncertain, but there were several minor males and females reported in Littleberry's household in 1830 and 1840, so it seems likely that there were several other children. Given the propensity for these families to intermarry into the same families, it seems very possible that your Amanda may have been a sister of Elmira, and that they may have married Tuten siblings or cousins. There was a fairly large Tuten family living in St. Paul's Parish Beaufort District, SC in the 1st half of the 19th Century.
Not sure whether this info is of any use to anyone, but we offer it as a possible lead for Amanda's ancestry. FYI, we have considerable research on Samuel Bostick and his ancestors, including his presumed brothers: John, Charles and Richard. Please feel free to contact us at
