I am still searching for the parents of Louisa Jane Boston. She was probably born or at least raised in Clay Co. Missouri, she states she was from Missouri on her marriage license to Robert H. Rawlings in 1875 in Jackson Co. WV. There is a Louisa Jane born in Ohio in 1859 but that doesn't fit because her daughter (my grandmother) Clara said Missouri. A couple of census say Ohio, perhaps grandparents in MO raised her?) If anyone knows anything please share with me. Thank you

Nancy Boston and Levi Floyd

An error that keeps circulating is that Levi Floyd of Worcester Co MD was married to Mary "Nancy" Boston. I am setting out my research here in order to allow all Floyd/Boston researchers to correct that error.

Levi Floyd was married to Anne "Nancy" Boston, daughter of Jacob Boston and Eleanor Bentson of Worcester Co MD. The name "Mary" is an error that was created by their granddaughter Mary Maddox, who said that her grandfather Levi Floyd came from Pennsylvania (actually Maryland), and that his wife was Mary Boston from Baltimore. There was a small town, now extinct, in Worcester Co that was named Baltimore Town, as opposed to Baltimore City (the one we know today). Mary might have heard her family talk about Baltimore and assumed it was the city. How she got Pennsylvania and Mary is beyond me.

As to Nancy's parentage, here's what I've put together:
1. Jacob Boston wrote two wills. In his first, he names his daughter as Anne; in the second, in 1788, just before he died, he called her Nancy. He also names his children in birth order, making Nancy the youngest, next to her brother Jesse. For some reason, Matthew Wise puts Nancy ahead of Jesse, but the other Boston children are in birth order so we have to assume that he put the two youngest in the correct order as well.
2. Nancy and Jesse were minors when their father died. Their mother had died earlier and Jacob had remarried to Sarah Merrill Henderson. When Jacob died, he made his eldest son Esau the guardian for Nancy and Jesse. Nancy and Jesse were probably very close as the two youngest orphans. Levi and Nancy named their first son Jesse. The relationship with the stepmother was not very good--a lawsuit over land dragged out many years.
3. Levi and Nancy named their second son John (probably Levi's father but not yet proven); the third son was Jacob (Nancy's father and an elder brother); their fourth son was William Smith (probably Levi's brother). Four of their children bear the same names of Jacob and Eleanor's children.
4. The will of Elizabeth Gunby (Woodford Co KY 1807) lists "friend Levi Floyd" and "Nancy Boston, wife of Levi Floyd."
5. Levi Floyd bought and sold property in Worcester Co MD in the 1790s. Jacob Boston lived nearby.
6. Jacob and Jesse Boston, brothers, moved to Spencer Co KY, just south of Shelby Co where Levi and Nancy lived.
7. Levi and Nancy's grandson Henry Clay Terrell, in his Civil War diary, notes that he had dinner in Shelby Co with his cousins Jacob and John Boston. These would actually have been his second cousins, sons of Nancy's brother Jesse.

The evidence, then, is that Levi Floyd married Anne "Nancy" Boston, daughter of Jacob Boston and Eleanor Bentson. No marriage records exist for Worcester Co prior to 1795.

If you are interested in more Levi Floyd information, check out my post of 28 June 2008 at the Floyd surname board.

James McKinney m. Sarah Boston on 22 Oct 1832 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Her father, James Boston, gave consent in writing.

Mary Ann McKinney m. David Carmichael on 26 Dec 1834 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Her father, James McKinney, gave consent in writing. He also posted bond.

Narcissa McKinney m. Charles White on 10 Mar 1842 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Her guardian was David Carmichael who gave consent and also posted bond.

I would guess that Narcissa was a younger sister of Mary Ann (McKinney) Carmichael. Was James who m. Sarah Boston the father of Mary Ann and Narcissa and the marriage to Sarah Boston was a second (or third) marriage? Or was he an older brother?

Who was James Boston and what happened to his daughter, Sarah, who m. James McKinney / McKenney?

I am looking for anyone who may know the origin of the above person. she married lewis jones in culpeper county, va in july 1795 although the marriage record has her listed erroneously as bosts. nancy moved with husband to brown co. ohio in 1820 census and may have been there as early as 1816 when son william mason jones was born. daughter malinda jones married nehemiah dean in march of 1819. lewis jones and nancy boston moved to liberty twp. shelby co., ind and can be seen there for the 1830 and 1840 censuses. lewis jones dies in 1845 area and buried in brown co. , ohio. he was born between 1760-1770. nancy lives and is sen as 78 years old in the 1850 census in liberty, shelby co., ind. census with daughter elizabeth then 38 yrs. old. lewis jones and nancy may have had a son named reuben boston jones or Reuben B. jones and he married a nancy mcneely in 1839-40 shelby co. indiana. reuben boston is a name associated to the orange co., virginia boston family. reuben b. jones dies in 1844 and leave a probate with wife nancy as administrator...there were only three main brothers joseph, robert and a youell boston in area at that time of nancy boston's birth who would be the right age to be nancy's father...if anyone has data or knows what iam referring to please leave a post....the reuben b. jones link to lewis and nancy jones is not confirmed at this time only highlyprobable. thanks.

Franklin Freeman Boston b. 1884 IL - Anyone have info?

I'm Charles E. Boston, grandson of Franklin Freeman Boston b. 1884 in IL, d. 10jun1946 in Kern Co, CA. I've found a record of him being born in IL in 1884, without a date or birthplace. My father, Franklin's 2nd son, Andrew Jackson Boston b. 29oct1916 in OK, d. 1apr2006 in Cape Girardeau, MO told me long ago our ancestors came from KY to IL, then to OK, where Franklin and his soon to be wife, Charlotte (Lottie) Jane Bell b. 19aug1886 in KS d. 10jun1974 Kern Co, CA were married in 1909. Circa 1925-1930 (?) the entire family moved to Kern Co in CA, from the Okmulgee area of OK. If anyone has information about Franklin's mother and father or his name has shown up in their tree research, I'd appreciate and thank you in advance for a reply. :-) C. Boston

He married Rachel Rader in Fairfield Co. OH in 1825. The couple had 5 children: Mary (1830), Lucinda (1834), John A. (1838), Jacob (1840), and William (1842). They moved out to Huntington Co., Indiana by 1860. William died there in 1872, Rachel in 1870. William and his sons were woodworkers: carpenters, house joiners, cabinet-makers, and wheelwrights. So far I've been unsuccessful in finding information about his birth family and would be so happy to break through this brick wall.

Bostons from Orange County VA

I would be interested in any info on these Bostons. We believe that Joseph Boston (m. Rebecca Petty) is the father of Reuben Boston (m. Sarah Hawkins). The father of Joseph Boston is Robert Boston (m. Margaret Thornton, 14 Sep 1727, Richmond Co. VA. How does that match up with everyone else's info? My ancestor was Youell Boston (m. Jemina Petty) who is brother to this same Joseph Boston.

We do not know any further history of Robert Boston.
In the Boston surname DNA project, we now have dnas for a Joseph descendant and a Youell descendant. We hope to get volunteers of other Boston lines to participate in this testing and go back further into history.

I really appreciate any information any one has.

This site was chosen because this is where Eugene Preston Boston (1868-1923) of Kentucky moved and lived and where many descendants still live.

Please email me if you have any questions.

Charles Boston and Mary Lesperance were my great grandparents. Charles died in Detroit in 1914, Mary died in Detroit in 1911. I have much to share about their descendants. Also, I am searcing for Charles' and Mary's ancestors. The name Boston was changed from something french, but the original name was lost long ago. The name Lespertance, I believe, is French Canadian. Any help is appeciated.
Jim McMurdo

If someone has access to the book(s) "Deaths in the Town of Boston 1700-1799", could you/would you please check page 941 and tell me exactly what is said about an Andrew Wager (aka Walker/Waker) who was buried on 19 October 1717? I am trying to follow footsteps of another person to get my own documentation/versions to try to determine if it is or is not my Andrew Wager aka Waker/Walker. Is he mentioned in this book on any other page? (Hopefully there is an index). Thank you - appreciate the time and help.

Boston, Julia Lee in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA)

Boston, Julia Lee

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes).

I extracted all of the names (& some other information) from the yearbook & have put them on my genealogy web site (total of 13 web pages, containing over 1,900 records; sorted alphabetically by surname).

The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site, not just data about the families I am researching. I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Looking for BOSTON Family Slaves in Albemarle/Orange County VA c. 1830-1850

I am researching an ex-slave named Joseph Boston who was born in Virginia, but achieved a small degree of prominence as a state legislator during Reconstruction in South Carolina. Joseph Boston is my 2G Grandfather. Joseph Boston was born in 1843 and died in 1880. Joseph's mother was named Jane and she was born in Virginia around 1830. Based on the fact that there were several BOSTON families in the Albemarle and Orange County Virginia areas, I am focusing my research on these areas.

The South Carolina history books say that Joseph Boston arrived in Newberry, South Carolina around 1847. Before the Civil War, he was owned by William Daniel Reagin in South Carolina. Presumably, Joseph and Jane moved together to South Carolina since Joseph would have been about 4 and Jane would have been about 17.

Has anyone come across any wills, bills of sale, asset schedules or other documents that might refer to slaves owned by any BOSTONs in Albemarle or Orange County, Virginia between 1830 and 1847? Alternatively, does anyone know of any connection between the BOSTONs of Virginia and William Daniel Reagin of Newberry, SC?

Any leads or other assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Harvey C Boston of Washington Co IN killed in South Pacific

Harvey C Boston of Washington County Indiana was killed September 4, 1944, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is officially listed as missing or buried at sea. His name appears on the “Tablets of the Missing” at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life.

I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.

http://fizkid.tripod.com/

My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Zenas5@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Dave and Apple Dwiggins
San Pablo City, Philippines

My grandmother was part indian, and part black...so as you can see we may or may not be related..i am not sure this info may or may not help you, but with 18 siblings, and some living one lifestyle and the others living a different one, i am sure if we search deep enough it will show we each descend from the same group. Good luck on your search

I am looking for any information regarding Edward Boston. He was born circa 1870 and lived in Pisgah, Charles County, Maryland. His wife was Amanda (perhaps Amanda Smith) and they had 13 children. I would be most interested in finding out who his parents were and how he is related to Walter Alexander Chapman.

Rose Boston (Johnson)

Last year I posted a note asking for information about a Rose Boston and I am under the hope that I can again ask please please if anyone has any information about her to email me. This is the information I have. Edward Johnson and Ester Peterson married in Sweden they came to the US and had four children. They settled in the Chicago area. Harry,Rubuen,Rose and Lloyd. Rubuen was murdered in the 50's. Lloyd died at a young age. We do not know what happened to Harry but we do know that Rose married a man named Walter Boston. The family said that Rose had two daughters and moved to California but in the search I have believed I have found that she died in Michigan about 1992. My husband who was a Grandson of Rubuen would love to find the Rose's children before time runs out and there is no one to talk to.Rose did write some to my husbands father until they lost conntact in the 1960's. If anyone can help we will be very great full.

I'm looking for any information on my family, because they're all deceased and I have no one to ask. My father was John Abraham Boston, Jr. of Swampscott, MA, (died 1982) and his brother was George F. Boston (died 1965) My grandfather was John Abraham Boston, also of Swampscott but he may have been born elsewhere - he married Hilda (a Swedish immigrant). The only other info I have is that my father thought that my grandfather may have had a brother in Brooklyn, NY. If anyone has any information for me I'd really appreciate it.
