I see that we have a common interest as far as a family tree is concerned. My grandfather is Wendell J Sears. I have been working for years to put our tree together. I haven't come across the Bostwick name yet. However, I have recently found out that I myself have Brothertown blood. I did know that I was Oneidan, Cherokee, & Stockbridge by way of my mother. My grandfather actually lived on the Stockbridge Rez when he was a child & moved when he was 17 or so. He then married my grandmother, & well.... You get the idea. =) Either way, I am most curious to know the ties from my grandfather to you? Please feel free to message me. Take care & have a wonderful day!

You may be searching for my uncle, William Moreau Bostwick - who would have indeed been the "Third". He went by the name "Moreau"! He was my mother's older brother, born in Jacksonville, Florida in April of 1899 to William Moreau Bostwick, 2nd, and Rosa Alice Williams. He had siblings: Alice Drew Bostwick (my mother) who was born in 1900; brothers: John Middleton Bostwick born in 1905, and identical twin brothers, Thomas Wozencraft Bostwick and Robert Sturgeon Bostwick who were born in 1912. All in Jacksonville.

I do not know much about his military service, except that he was in the Army Air Force (?) but was not a pilot - he was an officer, concerned with ground crew activities in England.

If you think this may be the W. M. Bostwick you are looking for, please reply and I'll answer in more detail.

Ran across an old cabinet card photo of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bostwick taken in Carbon, Utah and I bought it. Doing further research, I do not think this couple had any children. I'm looking for descendants of either this couple or descendants of Clarence's sister Ida Ellen Bostwick.

Hi .... am a decendent of Isaac Bostwick who arrived in Parr Town, Nova Scotia (now St John, NB) with the Spring Fleet in 1783. Recently came upon a reference to a David Bostwick who (supposedly) was granted land with Isaac .... "David and Isaac Bostwick were grantees of town lots in Parr Town in 1783, that of Isaac being No. 1313." Have no records of this "David", nor can I find any. (Isaac was also granted farm land near Kingston NB) Was hoping someone out there could share some insight with me re: David

... thanks ... brian

Hi Mark,

It seems likely to me that you have been to www.bostock.net to see the Bostwicks of Silkstone. In case you haven't this gets you there, but it still doesn't find your relatives.

http://www.bostock.net/tree/bostgen/wtrees/silk.html

Roland@Bostock.net

Cynthia Bostwick (Cloyes) b. abt Feb 1812 CT from death record

During a search of Dodge Co.,Minnesota, death records I happened upon the following in the Dodge County Court House records in Mantorville : Death Register C Page 9 :

Cloyes, Cynthia Bostwick
white, female, widowed
d. July 31, 1902 age 90 yrs 4 mos. 27 days
dob UNKNOWN pob Brookfield, CT
father's name : Levi Bostwick b. Brookfield, CT
mother's name : Betsey Lobdell b. Brookfield, CT

last resided : Kasson, Dodge Co., MN
buried : Mantorville, Dodge Co., MN
died of old age & senility

I recognized her husband's name as possibly being related to the line of my 4th gr-grandfather James Cloyes b. 1742/1743, MA who married Mehitable Gates (b. 1746, MA) in 1765.

The death record details listed above are as found in the index - I do not pretend to know whether they are in fact correct nor do I have any further info on Cynthia Bostwick nee Cloyes.

I hope this is of interest to someone.

Bill Harvey
Hi Pauline,

I am actually a great great granddaughter of Isaac N Bostwick. I have been trying to get info on my grandmother Grace Marie Bostwick born in Oregon in 1920 sometime. Her father was Oscar C Bostwick, Isaac N Bostwick's son. Can't seem to find any information on her bith date. Can you help me? I never got to meet any of the Bostwick relatives, though I spoke to Uncle Ike, son of Oscar C. Bostwick,on the phone up until his death in 1994.
Thank you - Serena

Joseph Bostwick

In Stratford, Connecticut on 14 June 1698, Joseph Bostwick, son of John Bostwick and Mary Brinsmead, married Ann ____. Her last name "is almost illegible" described by Henry Anthon Bostwick in Genealogy of the Bostwick Family, publ.1901. He also states "is undoubtedly Burr, as there were families of that name there." I have looked at this well documented Burr Family. The only Ann Burr of the time and in the area did not marry Joseph Bostwick.
The Barbour Collection and others publications suggest the name is Bass, Buss, or Barr. I have looked for families of those names in the area and time, without success.
Does anyone have an original copy of the record so I could view it or know who this mysterious Ann is.
Thanks, James

In the case of Bostwicks, essentially all I know is on www.bostock.net. As I have no Elinor to match who you are looking for, I can't help.

On Bostocks it is much different, I have a lot more material than is currently posted on the site.

One day I will add an 'other surnames index', but that is way off for now.

Roland@Bostock.net
