Boswell Family

Hi

I'm researching my family tree and would like some help regarding the Boswell branch. I have been able to go back as far as solivano (b.1757) and comfort boswell. Unfortunately I have recently moved to Canada making this task more difficult. Any help on identifying ancestors of these people would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul
Sir William Boswell 1650

BOSWELL, Sir WILLIAM (d. 1649), diplomatist, was a native of Suffolk. He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, of which he was elected fellow in 1606. He subsequently entered the diplomatic service, and was appointed secretar}' to Sir Dudley Carletou, then ambassador at the Hague, to whose post he eventually succeeded, receiving the honour of knighthood in 1633.

I am looking for the parentage of Sir William Boswell...the mystery is his mother below is Frances Raymond ( no idea of her husband either ) I can find nothing on Sir Williams parents on the web..I assume Raymond is a 2nd Marriage Surname.

Suffolk Record Office:
Memo of nuncupative will of Frances Reymond, when she lived at Hartest (incl. reference to her son Sir William Boswell) and probate (Archd. Sudbury) by her dau. Eliz. Twidd alias Reymond, wife of Ralph Twidd. HA 519/438 1636 February 6

- Clif

It's been a long time since this post, but I am decended from James Hiram Boswell. His son William H. Boswell was my gg grandfather. He fought in the Civil War, and I have several letters he wrote to his future wife, Rhoda Hostettler. I do not have much if any information on his father James Hiram, and would love to find what you have. I know that he died with his wife of pneumonia in December 1876. His son William also died within days of his parents of the same illness while visiting them. His sister also died within days of her brother and her parents, but don't know for sure of the cause.

Elizabeth (or Eliza) Missouri McHenry,b16Sep1847,AL-d. 02May1899,MS married John P Beeson in Lauderdale Co, MS 25 Apr 1866. Their children, John Edward 25Jan1869-1946, R Taylor 25JAN1869-1919,Robert Lee 25Aug1875, 1944, and Sarah Ann (Annie)17Jun1879-1963. John left Elizabeth about 1879 and in 1880 was living in Ouachita Co, Arkansas.
She married Rufus Middleton Boswell(John P Beeson's 2nd cousin), son of Samuel Madison Middleton and Hanna A Beeson in Newton Co, MS on 16 Dec 1887, I think Rufus and Elizabeth has children but don't know. Do you have any documentation on Emily vs Elizabeth or her children with Rufus? I've seen John Washington Boswell and Sara Dorsilla Luker listed as her parents, but I don't think that is correct.
If you go to either Rootsweb or Ancestry Family Trees, and look for the descendants of George Wooley, there is extensive information on the ancestors of James Hiram Boswell, said son of John Boswell and Mildred Elliot, etc back in Maryland. If you have trouble finding this, let me know and I will see if I can help. Howard Boswell

Boswells in Georgia

I have several references to the maiden name of one of my ancestors as "Boswell." Her name is Mary Elizabeth Boswell who married abt. 1861 Daniel P. Butler and lived mostly in Monroe County, GA but moved in her later years to Holland, Bell County, TX with one of her sons (another of her 3 sons went to TX, too). She was b. 1843 GA and d. 1927 GA. Most censuses she says both her parents were b. GA.

I believe at this time that her parents are Elijah and Pheriby Boswell who resided in Morgan County, Georgia from atleast 1840 to 1880. She had sisters named Sarah W. Boswell and Eliza Boswell. They are all five in the 1850 census of that county. By 1860, Mary E. and Sarah W. have moved out but Eliza continues to live with her parents for decades. In the 1850 census there is a Sarah Boswell nearby who was born in 1797 in Virginia: could this be Elijah's mother?

Does anyone have records of this line of Georgia Boswells? Is there a Bible record out there somewhere??

Boswell / Collett / Dillingham

I am trying to establish the connection between John Boswell, a butcher in London in the late 17th and early 18th century, his son Dillingham Boswell, Elias Collett and Elias Boswell Collett and Oliver Dillingham of Upper Dean, Bedfordshire.

Dave Dillingham Wiltshire
dwiltsdill@ntlworld.com

Trueman Boswell

While researching this name I find that postings are made about his parents and it states he was born BEFORE his parents! I advise anyone doing research to look carefully at what you are cutting and pasting. I find so many errors in this type of research and your tree is only as good as the paper trail. RESEARCH, many sources and do not trust the cut and paste method. I have spent all day on this one name only to find so many errors. I spend much time with my paper trails and when I find something so erroneous I had to post something.
Di
