I found this in a scrapbook. I am not a relation.
"Selina Bottomley was born in Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin, May 24, 1843. She passed away at her home in Riceville, Iowa, May 11, 1923, at the ripe age of 80 years, lacking a few days.
She was united in marriage to John William Gooder January 15, 1863, at Burlington, Wisconsin, and to this union seven children were born, four dying in childhood. Mr. and Mrs. Gooder spent the first years of their married life in Wisconsin. In February, 1871, they moved to the Riceville and McIntire vicinity, moving to Des Moines in 1898, where they lived 16 years, and then returned to McIntire and Riceville.
Mrs. Gooder in her early life united with the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a charter member of the Riceville M.E. church. She was president of the Ladies Aid Society at McIntire and at Des Moines. She was also a charter member of the Riceville branch of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society.
She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband, John W. Gooder, one son, Oliver L. Gooder of McIntire, and one who was as her own son, Harold Wright of Montana, two daughters, Mrs. F.E. Dunton and Mrs. Charles Mielitz of Riceville, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mary E. Burns of Burlington, Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held at the Gooder home, Riceville, Sunday May 13, at 2 pm (Mother's Day). Interment was made at the Riverside Cemetery at Riceville."
