We have two Joseph Bouldens n our data base. Neither seems to be the one you are looking for data on. Feel free to check our data at www.bouldenhistory.org

Joseph Powhatan Boulden b Aug 1819, raised in Ohio, m.Susan Lee in 1838, died 1887 in Iowa. Could he be the father of your Joseph?
Joseph Louis Boulden, born 1838 in Ohio, fought in the civil war, lived for a time with his uncle Joseph Powhatan, then went on to Utah and m. Matilda Curtis, d. 1813 in Orangeville, Utah.

Has anyone stumbled across a John Tong Boulden born circa 1801 in Chart Sutton, Kent? My 5xGreat Grandfather was George Tong Boulden born 1807 in Marden, Kent (about 4.5 miles away). Given the matching middle name and close proximity I gather John Tong must be related but I can't find his birth/christening anywhere. I've found John in the Census of 1851 (and later) living in Marylebone, London and working as a Grocer.
If nobody knows about John perhaps somebody has access to Chart Sutton parish registers who wouldn't mind doing a lookup for me?

Kind regards
Nathan

Re: Bouldens from kent

The Iowa Bouldens we are aware of descend from William Louis Boulden, b. 1792, d. 1830. He fought in the War of 1812, then went west to settle in Piqua, Miami, Ohio. Married to Nancy Ann Patterson. They were my 3G grandparents.

Some years after 1830, several of his adult children moved to Iowa, settling around Council Bluffs, we believe. These included at least two sons, John Roger Boulden and Joseph Powhatan Boulden. Probably later, WLB's widow Nancy Ann went there, perhaps with her grandson, William. We know that Joseph P. and young William traveled to Utah in the late 1870s and spent a year or more with William's half-brother, Joseph Louis Boulden, my G grandfather.

If this sounds like it might be the family you seek, let me know and I'll see what I can do about getting some family group sheets and a pedigree chart for you. But my data will be primarily centered in the 19th Century.

Let me know either way, OK?

Larry Boulden
Cleveland, Ohio
bouldenfam@gmail.com

Edwin Wesley Boulden death 1920's in Calif (probably)

Am seeking death date and location and burial location for Edwin Wesley Boulden. He was born in about 1844 in Ohio to Edwin Boulden and Hannah C. ___. His first wife was
Emma Jane Service (a/k/a Emeline Jane Servis)[b-June 8, 1852, in Vinland, Winnebago Co., Wisconsin, to Charles Henry Service and his 2nd wife Nancy Ann Ford (Wheeler)]. Edwin Wesley Boulden and Emma Service were married June 4, 1871 in Winneconne, Winnebago Co., Wisconsin. Kids included (that I know about): Ed, Verny, John J., David R.. Wife Emma died March 7, 1898, in Vinland, Winnebago Co., Wiscconsin, and is probably buried there. Edwin Wesley Boulden married a second time in about 1899/1900 to a woman named Emma ___ (Sawyer) who was born in 1844 in Wisconsin. Assume they were married in Wisconsin, but I don't know that. She had at least 1 son from a previous marriage, by the name of James A. Sawyer, b-1887 in Wisconsin. Sometime between 1899-1910, Edwin Wesley Boulden and 2nd wife Emma moved to San Diego, California, where he was working in a Coal Yard.
The 1920 census shows him and 2nd wife Emma living with "step son" James A. Sawyer in San Bernadino, California, where at the age of 75, he had been working as a teamster for a feed and oil company.
I assume he died in San Bernadino between 1920-1930, because he does not show up in the 1930 census.
